The SUPSI strategy for 2017-2020 results from teamwork involving SUPSI staff members and our local territory partners. All these contributions have been developed and summarised in a map. When delineating our strategic plan, our starting point was our identity, together with the concept of a university of experience firmly rooted in the local territory and open to the rest of the world. We want to propel ourselves into the future. Discussion regarding the paths to follow, and the choice of these paths, led us to focus on five fundamental strategic directions. And then we paused to consider the perspectives for outcome analysis and evaluation, identifying four in particular. This matrix generated sixteen objectives, coherent with the fundamental strategic directions and with the four dimensions. The SUPSI vision focuses particularly on relationships with partners in the territory and on exploiting the full potential of its valued position in the national and international academic community. This aspect is essential for emphasizing its nature as a vocational university, prominent for its ability to create collaboration networks and ensure vocational education, applied research, and services, in different ways, structured to meet each subject area's specific requirements and professional context. The role of SUPSI as an agent of change for its various target groups is strengthened by leveraging on the aspect which, through time and experience, has transpired to be one of the University's strong points: its ability to create networks, system and to trigger research synergies between different subject areas, partners and projects. Integrity Responsibility Collaboration Image Ethical code SUPSI has operated in Southern Switzerland for the last 20 years, plus many more if we consider the history behind the institution's establishment. In its primary role, the University supports the development of our society using its activities in education, research, and high-level technology transfer, in an ever-increasing range of professional contexts. This is why the SUPSI Board and Executive have decided that it is essential to codify the three guiding principles, a source of inspiration for everyday University activities: integrity, responsibility, and collaboration. The ethical code summarises and clarifies the code of conduct around these three cardinal guiding principles and the most critical organizational principles to which all those operating in SUPSI must refer, accepting roles and responsibilities that apply both internally and externally. Simultaneously, the code defines the SUPSI commitment toward its students, partners, and other stakeholders in the territory and the national and international scientific and academic communities. Understanding and adhering to the ethical code, which integrates and reinforces the principles described in the regulations and directives, are fundamental conditions underlying the reputation of SUPSI. A university subsists first and foremost because of its students, who must be engaged in its daily activities in order to experience a sense of belonging to the institute they will attend for the duration of their study programs. The SUPSI objective for its students is twofold: their education should equip them with the proper professional skills, but they should also become citizens who are informed and able to build up valuable knowledge in terms of personal development and the development of the community of students to which they belong. The educational agreement initiative is based on these considerations. It is also marked by the desire to remodel the teacher-student relationship approach, requiring the latter category to assume responsibilities while at the same time providing them with adequate responses to their learning needs, provided by their instructors in the classroom, in the partner companies or virtual spaces, and also utilizing high-quality services to support them in their personal development and transform the period of study into an experience of life and participation. On the one hand, the University constructs the contents and the learning environment. On the other hand, the students construct their learning process based on their motivational thrust and assuming responsibility for themselves, others, and general for the community in which they live. SUPSI is an autonomous organization established under public law in Canton Ticino, including its departments and associated schools, which are run by private institutions but are integrated into the structure and culture of SUPSI while maintaining their own administrative and financial autonomy. Relations with Canton Ticino are governed by a performance contract that defines cantonal contributions based on the number of students and the volume of acquired projects. The Swiss Confederation also contributes to finances. For the rest, SUPSI administers and organizes itself autonomously and pursues objectives of growth and self-financing. Strategic direction and control are the SUPSI Council's responsibility, composed of people not working at SUPSI and appointed by the State Council (Government) of Canton Ticino. The operative direction is the responsibility of SUPSI Management, including directors of departments and affiliated schools. Departments are structured by academic discipline (Institutes, Laboratories, Centres of Expertise) directly responsible for the first level modules, continuing education courses, and applied research projects. All teachers, researchers, and other collaborators of SUPSI report to these departments. The faculty of SUPSI is composed in a balanced proportion, depending on individual disciplines, of internal teachers-researchers and active external professionals. The professor's title does not distinguish a function. However, it is conferred as an honorific title by the SUPSI Council to collaborators who have not already obtained it elsewhere and achieve effective teaching and applied research goals. Departments have the support of advisory committees.- university

- Franklin University Switzerland is an education that explores and goes beyond boundaries. It is a school where nationalities and cultural perspectives meet and create unique experiences. It is a learning method that incorporates travel and interdisciplinary study into the core of the curriculum. We refer to our methodology and mission as the international imperative in education. The mission of Franklin University Switzerland is to provide cross-cultural and multinational learning and living environment that inspires students to engage the world. We challenge students through a curriculum that integrates the liberal arts with professional pathways and classroom learning with Academic Travel to destinations worldwide. Franklin's education produces critical thinkers who are culturally literate, ethically aware, and intellectually courageous. We prepare students to become responsible, compassionate, and collaborative leaders in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. We, the Franklin students, seek an outstanding liberal arts education in a new era of globalization. An insatiable curiosity about the world drives our shared passion for traveling. On-campus, during academic travel, and during our independent excursions, we encounter cross-cultural experiences daily. We use the world as our classroom and approach learning opportunities and challenges with a keen sense of adventure. We, the Franklin staff members, contribute our expertise, compassion, and commitment to creating a supportive environment for students, faculty, parents, and alumni in which we may all learn and grow. We, the Franklin professors, are driven by our passions for producing and imparting knowledge in equal measure. As teachers, our many roles sustain us: we foster the bright and demanding energies of our students and are fostered in turn by them. As colleagues, we respect and thrive in the many worlds we offer each other. As employees, we receive and give, in turn, the encouragement to jointly shape an intellectual environment that enables us all to flourish. We, the Franklin trustees, strongly believe all students should have an international educational experience that imparts knowledge, respect, and appreciation for cultures other than their own. As such, we strive to ensure an environment that allows students to become articulate, informed, and productive leaders of their communities. We, the Franklin alumni, recognize the great gift of a Franklin education and want to see others benefit from the exceptional, international learning community that is the Franklin family. Grateful for the confidence and zeal we have gained, we contribute to the University's continued vitality as ambassadors, volunteers, investors, and stewards of its mission so that future generations may join us as life-long explorers. Franklin University Switzerland students come from all over the planet to have an immersive, international learning experience. Your classes will be filled with people from different countries and cultures who discuss new perspectives on each topic you study. At the same time, your campus life will include academic events and social activities that reinforce cross-cultural understanding. Choose the kind of education that will open your mind, widen your perspective, and give you the tools to excel in your career path. Whether you seek a bachelor's or a master's degree, you gain a new perspective and a better understanding of other cultures at Franklin. From 9/11 to the Syrian crisis to Brexit, recent events make international education programs more essential than ever. Franklin has emphasized thinking internationally since it was founded nearly 50 years ago. Our international study programs provide cross-cultural perspectives and affect the direction and meaning of your university experience, life, and career. The best example of our approach is the Academic Travel program: Each semester, students go on 10-day to two-week study tours. Academic Travel is required and included in your tuition to ensure numerous possible destinations. Each travel course is an exploration designed by faculty with specialist expertise in the area visited and covered. This experiential learning element fits into the context of a semester-long course devoted to the topic at hand. Our commitment to providing you with an international experience is enhanced by mixing interdisciplinary study into the curriculum. Just as knowing about other cultures enriches your education, so does know about studying areas outside your major. Employers are looking for graduates with a broad knowledge that empowers them to think on their feet and apply values that consider their decisions. Guiding students to identify their values requires sincere interaction with professors, advisors, and peers. Our exceptional student-faculty ratio of 10:1 is central to the individual attention you receive. Learning at Franklin is an intensive and personal endeavor. You get to know your professors and are part of the same tightknit community. A Franklin education produces competent and critical thinkers that can navigate international settings. Our graduates are prepared for life and progress in rewarding careers. The association aims to create opportunities for members of the local community to support and engage in the University's life and for the University to engage in the community's life. Franklin is delighted to offer distinctive benefits to the local community, such as access to university courses and public lectures/cultural events, faculty expertise, collaboration and partnerships, qualified student interns and volunteers for local organizations, and the use of university facilities for private events, among others. Franklin's Friends are united by an interest in the University's activities and the University's role in the local artistic, cultural, socio-economic, and political landscape. Members act as ambassadors for the University, fostering understanding in the greater community of the nature and value of Franklin University Switzerland as a unique institution - a private, non-profit university based on an Anglo-American model that emphasizes attention to students, small classes, critical thinking, intercultural experience, social responsibility, and intense global engagement. At Franklin, curiosity is required. You will take an Academic Travel course every semester, seeing places you have studied with your own eyes. You will attend class with international faculty and students from over 50 countries. You will have the opportunity to travel independently and to do internships internationally. You will do research and will develop a critical perspective. You will graduate with a degree that is accredited in both the United States and Switzerland. You will have learned the art of adapting to any situation on the fly. You will be a world traveler. You will have everything you need to be successful. Come with us to Greece, Malawi, France, Japan, Scotland, Iceland, Korea, Botswana, Italy, or India, and above all, come to study in Switzerland, a real crossroads of languages and cultures in the heart of Europe. Take advantage of the opportunity to get an education like no other.
