  1. The Students' Union is a dynamic organization where values count with a vibrant culture and environment that few places could match. Our staff frequently say that the people they work with and the supportive atmosphere are the best things about working here. We have been audited as a Very Good Students' Union by Quality Students' Unions with a "significant number of areas of excellence," meaning when you work here, you know your work makes a meaningful difference to students' lives. Not only this but one of the areas we scored "Excellent" in was people, so you can be confident that this is an excellent place to work! Working or volunteering with us can be a great way to make new friends and have a good time while you're at Sussex. We have various locations, all on our campus on the edge of the South Downs close to Brighton & Hove - we are also the only university in England located in a national park. The Union is all about working with students to help them get the most out of their time here at the University of Sussex. To achieve this, our recruitment and selection process aims to recruit skilled, friendly, and highly motivated people who share our purpose and values. Many students within the University of Sussex are concerned about ethical and environmental issues, whether it be decolonization, energy usage, biodiversity, or fair labor conditions in their supply chain. Do you have an idea for planning, running, and leading a project, initiative, or campaign on environmental sustainability? Or maybe you would like to be involved? The Students' Union is always keen to hear from students to support you to drive positive change. Join like-minded students on Facebook in the "green community on campus". Go Green Week is a week dedicated to events centered around sustainability in February. We have previously had cycle-powered karaoke, paperless bingo, eco-crafternoon, clothes swaps, and more! Funding and support are available for you to put on events, fundraisers, get guest speakers in, and more. View full university

Sussex was the first of the new wave of UK universities founded in the 1960s, receiving its Royal Charter in 1961. The University of Sussex has more than 15,000 students, of which over a third are postgraduates. Creative thinking, diversity in our teaching, intellectual challenge, and interdisciplinarity have always been fundamental to a Sussex education. Our goal is to deliver teaching and learning programs informed by current research, attractive to students from all socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and deliver life skills. Situated in rolling parkland on Brighton's edge, the campus combines award-winning architecture with green open spaces. The campus is surrounded by the South Downs National Park but just a few minutes away from the lively city of Brighton & Hove. Designed by Sir Basil Spence, the buildings that make up the campus's heart were given listed building status in 1993. Falmer House is one of only two educational buildings in the UK to be Grade I-listed to recognize its exceptional interest. Sussex has a long tradition of engaging with business and the community, which continues today through the Sussex Innovation Centre, public lectures, and services to the community. Our goal is to help businesses and organizations in the region develop higher staff skill levels through training and stimulate innovation through partnership with other institutions outside Sussex to benefit the wider society. 4. Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is an equal partnership between the Universities of Sussex and Brighton and NHS organizations throughout the South East region. The school's governance arrangements reflect this approach, and students are awarded joint BM BS degrees of both universities. The school is fully committed to the principles of Tomorrow's Doctors. We endorse the value of medical education in a multi-professional context and promote the highest possible standards in our teaching, clinical practice, and research (both fundamental and applied). We admit approximately 150 students annually to our BM BS degree course. BSMS has proved exceptionally popular, and in recent admissions rounds, we have continued to achieve one of the highest application rates of any UK medical school. Students spend their first two years primarily on the universities' campuses at Falmer; after that, the focus shifts to the associated teaching hospitals and community settings in Brighton and the surrounding area. We have purpose-built teaching facilities in all areas. Our curriculum emphasizes early clinical involvement, a broad range of experience, and a firm foundation in basic science. Led by the Department of Medical Education, we employ a wide range of teaching and learning approaches appropriate for the particular circumstances we are not committed to a single method of delivery. Feedback from the National Student Survey has demonstrated an exceptionally high level of student satisfaction, with BSMS students consistently returning overall satisfaction rates above 90%. Our postgraduate courses provide a range of opportunities from taught and research Masters courses to diplomas, certificates, and individual continuing professional development (CPD) modules, allowing us to meet the needs of health professionals at all levels in a continually changing healthcare sector. As we respond to this sector's needs, our courses continue to evolve, with new courses being added as a need is identified. We offer a range of clinical specialties, including anesthesia, cardiology, and dementia, and professional courses ranging from medical education to public health and global health. Our partnership with the Universities of Brighton and Sussex and overlapping research groupings offer a productive research environment for students wanting to pursue a research degree, and we offer PhDs, MDs, and MPhils along with our Masters in Research. The research undertaken at BSMS aims to make a genuine contribution to the evidence and science underpinning clinical practice and to benefit people and patients in their health and wellbeing. We have made significant investments in research infrastructure, including a world-class Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre (CISC) housing a 3T and 1.5T MRI and a PET- CT scanner and a Clinical Investigation and Research Unit (CIRU) dedicated to patient-orientated research and early clinical trials. Our key domains of research strength are recognized locally, nationally, and on the international stage. These are represented by our departments of Global Health and Infection (including HIV and sexual health), Neuroscience (including mental health and neurology) Clinical and Experimental Medicine, Medical Education, Primary Care, and Public Health. BSMS offers an Academic Training Programme aimed at doctors who are considering an academic career in medicine. The program is jointly overseen by BSMS and Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex and in close collaboration with the relevant partnership NHS Trusts (Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust and Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust).
  5. Northbrook was formed from the West Sussex College of Art & Design (founded 1912) when it merged with the Chelsea College of Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering and Worthing College of Technology in 1986. Northbrook remains the most prominent provider in West Sussex of undergraduate degrees for the creative and cultural industries and a long-established specialist in automotive engineering. Northbrook's courses are industry-led, with an emphasis on employability, enterprise, and entrepreneurship. Many of the lecturing staff are practitioners with current links to the creative industries. Courses include live projects and work placements, and many have the endorsement of professional bodies. Students benefit from the personalized academic and pastoral support offered by a relatively small institution. The College provides individual support through small group teaching, personal tutors, and generous contact teaching hours per week.

  8. Cumnor House Sussex is one of the country’s leading independent day and flexible boarding schools for children from the ages of 2 to 13. Situated at the heart of the Ashdown Forest in Sussex, we provide an empowering education for active and ambitious boys and girls. The Cumnor House Sussex motto - ‘Aim High, Be Kind, Dare to be Different’ - sits at the heart of our School and, combined with a teaching environment and facilities that demand excellence and an unrivaled breadth of the offer, is what makes Cumnor unique. We look forward to welcoming you to the school and to helping you understand what we think education for a young child can be. To understand how Cumnor is different, it is simplest to go back to our motto ‘Aim High, Be Kind, Dare to be Different. We ‘aim high’ for every child. We expect parents to be ambitious for their children and we support that ambition. We want each child to be the best possible version of themselves, academically and socially. The school offers a breadth of the curriculum delivered within a timetable that might see a 10-year-old bouncing from maths to music to Latin to swimming to design technology within a single morning. We believe, whilst resolute of the importance of literacy and numeracy, that all the subjects we teach are of similar importance and consequence. It may be that the confidence a child needs to progress academically may come from their love of swimming or drama equally, the confidence that being a sound mathematician brings maybe that which allows a child to dive into the pool or stand in the spotlight. Secondly, nothing is more important to us at Cumnor than that the children should ‘be kind’ and considerate with one another. The core of our belief is that you should treat other people as you wish to be treated. This is the essential Christian value but, of course, one that is validated in every major religion and society. If a child feels warm, safe, and happy then they are likely to be more relaxed in class and to learn more easily. A caring environment in which the children are surrounded by staff living up to the same ideals is the perfect starting point. Our unwavering commitment to promoting the positive mental health of our children and the individual support needed is something we are uniquely placed to do at Cumnor. The final part of our motto, ‘dare to be different, suggests that children should be prepared not to follow the crowd. We appreciate individuality and encourage children to be prepared to do what they feel is right rather than what they feel will please or amuse others around them. We also challenge the children to recognize that there are no stereotypes of perfection – everything that is done with conviction, enjoyment, endeavor, and respect is to be valued. Our motto, which sits at the heart of our School, a teaching environment and facilities that demand excellence, and our unrivaled breadth of offer are what make Cumnor unique. Success, to us, is happy and confident children who are more likely to develop into rounded and thoughtful adults. At Cumnor House Sussex, the size of our school means we are well placed to make this our aim. We are focused on individuals and every child is known to us. We are trying to make the world a better place, one child at a time!

  11. Sussex Christian School (SCS) was founded in 1982 and has been dedicated to providing an excellent, caring, and student-centered education ever since. We offer quality education for children in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. SCS students are nurtured in a way that helps create confidence that prepares them to take their special place in the world. You will find SCS to be a place where the Christian faith meets excellence in academics. We are excited about offering a program to the community and around the world that educates the “whole person”. Our teachers are innovative and excited about preparing our students for future success. Our school promises to be an extension of your family, academically and spiritually. We believe God entrusts children to families and it is our job to come alongside, not only to teach all academic subjects with excellence but also to mold outstanding character. We can’t think of a better school for students to attend in Canada. At SCS, we promote and deliver critical thinking skills, excellence in academics, travel programs for students 5-12, drama, athletics, biblical integration, chapel, and deep care and concern for your child(ren). Students are courted to gain an understanding of the purpose that God has created them for and then we work to get them prepared for that journey. SCS graduates go on to any post-secondary school and professions that they desire. Alumni have been invited and received scholarships from the University of New Brunswick, Crandall University, Kingswood University, Dalhousie University, Liberty University, New Brunswick Community College, Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Holland College, Houghton College, University of Toronto, St. Thomas University, University of Waterloo, and many more. Within these schools our students have studied law, early childhood education, computer science, journalism, education, biology, kinesiology, electrical, engineering, theatre, art, music, counseling, psychology, business, policing, paramedic training, nursing, theology, English, and agriculture. Sussex Christian School students are nurtured in such a way that they breed confidence and are being prepared to take their special place in the world. Please let me know if we can assist you in any way. The purpose of the SCS Jr. Kindergarten is to assist families by providing a program that gives preschool-aged children the opportunity for social interaction, a caring and loving learning atmosphere, and academic exposure in a Christian environment. JK-3 offers a themed approach with a new theme each month and a weekly letter and number to focus on. JK-4 offers instruction in reading readiness, social development, and personal development. The curriculum includes A Beka’s: “ABC-123” for phonics and number skills “Readiness Skills K-4”, which provides practice in fine motor skills such as cutting a straight line, coloring, etc. “ABC Writing Tablet” for beginning practice in letter formation and A Beka Bible (Character Development). Since the Sussex Christian School Junior Kindergarten is a service for three and four-year-olds, the Province of New Brunswick states that the program falls under the Day Care Act, and as a result, must be licensed by the Province under that act. Therefore the NB Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care must be employed. SCS combines many of the concepts of the play-based ideology outlined in the NB Framework throughout the daily routine as we work toward the educational goals of the school as laid out above. SCS has several activities that our students can participate in throughout the school year. We encourage our students to take part in extra-curricular activities as these activities help students to develop into well-rounded individuals. Sussex Christian School offers a vibrant, caring, nurturing, and highly academic program for students who want to study on the East Coast of Canada. 12.
