- Architecture is the science and art concerning the design, technical, economic, ecological, and social planning of buildings. This involves identifying and coordinating many complex requirements. These include everything from the historical and social environment to functionality, design, and economics to suit the means and materials used. The quality of architecture, including interior architecture and urban planning, is measured by the careful consideration of and provision for all of these requirements. A general education makes way for a flexible career after graduating. Jobs in architecture and construction range from architectural artists and design architects, who concentrate on architectural theory and visual arts, to engineers, who technically design buildings or furniture, to construction site supervisors. The University of Applied Sciences is situated in Stuttgart, the "City of Architects." It is a university with a nationwide reputation that unifies all multidisciplinary construction skills in one location. The bachelor/master system offers challenging courses in architecture, interior architecture, urban planning, and project management, where students will be imparted solid knowledge on design, technology, and organization. Focus is on a robust, practical approach to planning and construction and other integrative teaching methods. Students work intensively on campus, in the studio, and in small groups. All of this is with direct supervision from professors and visiting lecturers from the departments of architecture, interior architecture, urban planning, project management, and the neighboring specialized departments of building physics, civil engineering, and surveying. At Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, study courses are characterized by the depth of training and close relationship to practice. Optimal support by professors is guaranteed at all times due to the limited number of students. Often a specialization and setting individual priorities are possible already in the Bachelor's degree. Civil engineers accompany construction projects from the planning, design, and construction to completion and billing for construction services. Thus, extensive knowledge, construction and statics, building physics, and the appropriate legal and safety regulations are needed. You can find civil engineers in management positions of all construction industry sectors, such as construction companies and planning offices, institutions, and authorities of the municipalities, states, and government. The Bachelor's degree course in civil engineering focuses on structural engineering, water and transportation, and construction management. The Bachelor program Infrastructure Management combines civil engineering course contents with topics from urban planning, energy supply, and project management. The budding infrastructure managers are educated to combine the interfaces between the project stakeholders optimally. Potential employers are infrastructure businesses like public utilities and transportation, utility companies, and the public sector. Graduates of the Bachelor program Civil Engineering and Business Management are educated in studying content from civil engineering and business administration both on the energy-efficient development of building projects and economical property management. Through the holistic view of the planning and construction and the facility management, they are qualified to take on management tasks in the construction and real estate industry. After a successful Bachelor's degree and possibilities in practice, a series of consecutive Master's courses will deepen the knowledge. The Master course Civil Engineering/Tunnel Building educates students for tasks with constructive-geotechnical focus. - The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, with a history extending back over 250 years, is one of the largest art academies in Germany. With 20 academic study programs in Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, Art Education, and Art Related Studies-Conservation, it provides a broad spectrum of educational and research opportunities to approximately 900 students. ABK Stuttgart provides an outstanding teaching and learning environment. One of its "trademarks" is interdisciplinarity – meaning there are interdisciplinary courses and seminars and joint projects of the individual study programs. Students study in small course groups, which allows professors to provide intensive support. We are focused on developing students' creative and artistic skills and imparting technical, practical, and professional knowledge. The other "trademark" of the Academy is its over thirty workshops. They allow students to implement their ideas and concepts using analog and digital techniques. The workshops are of fundamental importance for the students' education and are interdisciplinary activity places, a specific trait of ABK Stuttgart. ABK Stuttgart provides experimental ground to the unity of teaching and research and promotes innovation in art and design. It also emphasizes academically sound teaching programs. It further offers the postgraduate study course "Meisterschüler/in as part of the Weissenhof Programme of Fine Arts" to promote innovative projects and outstanding artists. ABK Stuttgart is one of the few art academies in Germany entitled to award doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. The many contacts the Academy has made with national and international universities worldwide and the exchange programs allow students to study abroad. However, they may also gain intercultural experience while studying at the Academy. The international stance of ABK supports students in establishing a broad professional network for their future activities. The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design is a legal entity under public law and a state-owned institution. It has the right to institutional self-government within the framework of the law. Its status is equivalent to that of a scientific university. The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design offers several awards, prizes, and scholarships to support young artists and recognize excellence in artistic ability. In this context, we often work in close cooperation with external partners. This includes the Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship), the Scholarships from the State Graduate Sponsorship Programme (Landesgraduiertenstipendium), the Baden-Wuerttemberg Scholarship (Baden-Württemberg-Stipendium), the DAAD Prize, and the Fukuoka Scholarship. Further prestigious awards are The Academy Prizes given by ABK Stuttgart on the occasion of its annual "Tour" and the Erwin Heinle Prize, the Herta Maria Witzemann Prize, and the Forder-Koje Prize offered by the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Academy. Naturally, the Stuttgart Academy keeps reacting to new aesthetic tendencies and technological developments in the liberal and applied arts. The variety of teaching positions - this polar, objective tension of which Heuss spoke - still marks the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design today. There is no strict school formation; there is no binding Academy style; instead, there is a pluralism of styles and schools of thought, enabling the continuation of the proven and appropriate and creative reaction to new challenges and impulses. The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design has opened itself up increasingly in recent years. Contact with foreign institutions now exceeds 50 cooperations within and outside of Europe. The share of international students has been approximately 10% for many years. Representatives of 20 nations from all around the world are studying at ABK Stuttgart. View full university
- Since the 1st September 2001, Hochschule der Medien has brought together the combined know-how of the former University of Printing and Media, an educational institution with over 100 years of tradition, and the University of Librarianship and Information whose history reaches back to 1942. With 16 Bachelor's degree programs and 6 Master's degree programs, a part-time MBA, and a doctoral program, Hochschule der Medien covers a broad spectrum of media expertise: from printed media to electronic media, from mass media and media theory to media production, from media design to making media available. At Hochschule der Medien, students learn in modern lecture theatres and workshops and studios, at printing machines, or behind the camera. Exciting practical projects in the University's laboratories or cooperation with partner companies complement theoretical knowledge and scientific working methods. Initially, the University had two campuses. Since 2014 the University consists of one central campus in Stuttgart Vaihingen with a new faculty building, symbolizing "one media world". Exchange students can choose from a variety of English-taught Minor Programs. Each Minor is one semester-long set program. Most Minors run every semester and usually consist of 30 ECTS credits. Please note that it is NOT possible to pick and mix courses from different Minors. To be admitted to one of our Minors, we expect students to have a language level of B2 or higher in English (non-native speakers need to include proof of language proficiency in their application documents). The Minor Program Advertising and Publishing focus on planning, designing, and producing communications in advertising and publishing. It covers the relevant areas on the path from the "first idea, "via visual design, to the production and dissemination of the finished product. With the specializations Analysis & Strategy, Design & Advertising as well as Publishing & Production, students learn about all the phases which are essential in the conception, publishing, and distribution of printed and digital media, including mobile web-apps. During one semester, students become familiar with the most critical methods in research, analysis, and marketing and will gain insight into market communication strategies and psychology. They become acquainted with the various creative design processes, such as design trends, photography, and interaction design. Additionally, our students are involved in the different publishing and advertising stages - from the selection and production of appropriate contents, their preparation for the most diverse forms of distribution, to duplication and distribution. A parallel practical placement/internship in the printing workshop of the University helps to make the pre-printing, printing, and post-printing processes understandable. In this way, the path taken for an advertising campaign from conception to a printed poster can be touched, which is positioned in the right location – can be seen vividly. Students will also see how a book is transformed from an idea into a multi-media product that fulfills the needs of a wide variety of readers and users with texts, images, and sound. Business information is distributed all over a company's ecosystem: from operational enterprise resource planning (ERP) to customer relationship management systems (CRM) towards social media platforms and external open data or market research data warehouse systems. The Minor Program Business Analytics focuses on managing and integrating business information, which is stored in large heterogeneous and distributed information systems. The Minor Program Games Technology provides a sound introduction to game development's technological facets in theory and practice. Students will get a brief overview of the history of game development, an introduction to business aspects and the basics of youth protection regulations, and an introduction to games design. They will also obtain profound knowledge about the architecture of game systems and gain an in-depth insight into their components' functionality. The Minor Program Media Creation & Management allows international students to gain inside knowledge to create and capitalize media. This includes having the idea, putting it into practice with production, and managing the results and finances. If you are interested in different aspects of the media business, if you want to be creative while learning more about operating media services, and to invent new business models – Media Creation & Management is the right program for you. The Minor Program Visual Communication is available every winter semester with the subject of interface and interaction design. Students will introduce user interfaces, acquire methodological knowledge in user-centered design, design interfaces for desktop or mobile systems, and learn the necessary skills of scripting languages. Lectures in information technology and psychological processes in visual communication between man and machine will extend the state of knowledge. The program "Mobile Media" is no Minor program. This means that there might occur time conflicts between some of the individual courses listed below. There is, however, the possibility to select additional courses from the area of Language, Culture, and Society if a particular study load needs to be achieved. View full university

A year later, in 2003, the university was awarded the right to confer doctoral degrees in musicology and music pedagogy. In 2005, the university re-structured itself completely, giving rise to its current four faculties and eleven institutes. The infamous Bologna Reforms triggered the administrative changes of 2008 when under Pro-rector Prof. Dr. Matthias Hermann, the study's program was converted to the Bachelor and Master system. Alongside one active support association, the university has been fortunate enough to benefit from two universities' foundations since 2010. Concerning commercial concerns, the university utilizes its own company in the form of a GmbH, which it has been using as a subsidiary since 2006. The university's outstanding reputation is reflected in the countless first-rate appointments, the many successful international competitions, and professional public relations. Annually, the university receives some 2,800 applications for 100 possible study places, powerful testimony indeed of its reputation. The Bachelor of Music course enables you to study: all-instrumental subjects (except accordion), singing, orchestral conducting, choral conducting, composition, music theory, and elementary music pedagogy. The Bachelor of Music course has a total duration of 8-semesters and is an undergraduate program divided into 2-phases of 4-semesters each. Alongside your main artistic field of study and ensemble practice (orchestra/choir/chamber music), the syllabus in semesters 1-4 (essential undergraduate phase) includes the following modules: music theory (the rudiments of composition, study of harmony, counterpoint), musicology, aural training, and methodology as well as piano as a minor field of study. The primary undergraduate phase ends on the successful completion of your intermediate exam. Semesters 5-8 (the advanced undergraduate phase) concentrates more on your main artistic field of study and ensemble practice. Analysis and music education are reflection modules. Part of your intermediate exam will entail deciding on your main focus for your degree's advanced undergraduate phase: otherwise known as the profiling phase. In the profile phase, we offer a wide range of options to accommodate as many interests as possible. The profiles you choose will influence your final Bachelor's degree exams and can, to some extend, be considered as a move towards specialization in later postgraduate programs. View full university

In the Master course of structural Engineering, graduates of Bachelor of Civil Engineering can deepen their planning and construction of complex engineering structures. The Bachelor's degree's transport-related curriculum is picked up and deepened in the Master's program of Transportation Infrastructure Management. All modes of transport and the different forms of mobility are included in these master courses. The Masters of Environmental Protection, International Project Management, and Urban Planning are also available for graduates of a Bachelor of engineering. The researchers at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences conduct mostly interdisciplinary work, focusing on building research, and have developed and coordinated extremely successful national and international research projects in recent years. This success shall be expanded further.
