About Me

  1. Our whole school community makes St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School special – the students, the parents, the staff, the old scholars, and our supporters. If you have a community that values rigor and excellence in education, safety, and hope for children, you will have successful children. Everything we do is focussed on that partnership, the ethos of the community. We are blessed to develop young lives in a beautiful physical setting surrounded by superb buildings and gardens. It is undoubtedly a stimulating and creative environment for our future leaders. While we love our local area of Glenelg and our state, we are also an International Baccalaureate Organisation World School that offers the Primary Years Program, one of many recognized throughout the world. We are an internationally-minded educational institution, part of a much wider universe and culture. We will nurture our students to be happy, knowledgeable, and creative young people who care for others and make a positive difference in the world. Our Values are Approaching each day with curiosity and appreciation, sharing fun and happiness, and expressing gratitude. Always doing our best being honest, strong and standing up for what is right. Being true to yourself, appreciating other people and cultures, and caring for the environment. Helping others, contributing to the community, and being a good citizen. SPW encourages students to find joy and enlightenment in their education, giving them the best opportunity to leave school feeling happy, confident, and ready to face the world ahead. We believe that a child is born with an intuitive sense of wonder and happiness at being alive, and a school’s most important job is to nurture and foster that daily sense of delight. At the same time, we have a solemn responsibility to reveal the accumulated experiences we have gained – how the world works, how change creates opportunity, and how diversity adds richness. Most importantly, we want our students to understand how the values of tolerance, compassion, and respect underpin our relationships. SPW is built around the values and traditions of the Anglican Church. The fundamental Christian teaching “love God and love your neighbor” underpins the school's philosophy and programs. The values and beliefs of our church are integrated across the teaching curriculum, and there is a weekly service held in the Chapel. SPW is part of the Anglican Parish of Glenelg, and as the original Parish School, we proudly participate in parish activities. View full school
  2. St Peters Lutheran School has been providing a Christian education for children from Dimboola and surrounding districts since 1958. Our school is unique as it is a small school with small classes and a low teacher to pupil ratio. This creates a sense that the school is a family with a personal and caring approach. We are well equipped with updated resources, including computers and interactive whiteboards in each class. St Peters offers a safe Christian environment that endeavors to provide a diverse learning environment that nurtures mutual respect, love, and care. Over recent years we have upgraded a range of facilities, with the most notable being a new synthetic playground surface and basketball court, new computers, and iPads for students to use in class. At St. Peters Lutheran Primary School, we have a rigorous and challenging curriculum. Our experienced and carefully appointed teachers have a wide range of expertise, skills, and knowledge, which we have incorporated into our broad and stimulating curriculum. For many years St. Peter's congregation was very conscious of its responsibility for Christian education and had already organized a Saturday School to overcome the limitations of a Sunday school. Progressively, this forward-looking congregation realized the Saturday school's limitation, so the next step a Christian day school. Ownership and ultimate responsibility for St. Peter's Lutheran School rest with St. Peter's congregation, which regularly appoints a School Council to discharge the responsibility of overall care of the school. Day to day internal running of the school is undertaken by the appointed Principal. St. Peter's Congregation has generously supported the school financially since its inception in 1958. St. Peter's Lutheran School was opened in 1958. A year earlier, the St. Peters Lutheran Congregation had set to establish a Christian day school on a Mallee block just east of the Churchyard. Initially, classes were held in the hall until a portable two-classroom school was built and delivered by Stawell Timber Industries of Lake Road Stawell. View full school

  7. We, the family of St Peter’s, united in faith by God strive to learn and grow together to be the best we possibly can every day. This is our school, where we are all stars in God’s eyes, where we should try our hardest in our work and our play. With Jesus in our hearts, help us to treat each other with respect, even when we find it hard. The School Council is a very active and vocal part of the school community, who meet frequently to discuss the issues and concerns that have been raised by members of the school community. School Councillors are elected by their classmates to: Attend school council meetings and take part in discussions. Share the views of others in their class. Speak to special visitors. Be involved in different projects that the school council runs. At St Peter’s we take pride in our uniform. We want our children to look smart. Our school uniform can be bought from Castle Green School Uniform Shop. The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values”. The importance of these values has been reiterated by the Prime Minister this year. Protecting children from the risk of radicalization is part of St Peter’s Catholic Primary's wider safeguarding duties, and is similar to protecting children from other forms of harm and abuse. During the process of radicalization, it is possible to intervene to prevent vulnerable people from being radicalized. Radicalization refers to the process by which a person comes to support terrorism and forms of extremism. There is no single way of identifying an individual who is likely to be susceptible to an extremist ideology. It can happen in many different ways and settings. The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places a duty on school staff to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. Known as the Prevent Duty. School staff should use their professional judgment in identifying children who might be at risk of radicalization or extremism and report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. It is important that when required as parents you return signed slips of acknowledgment by given deadlines to ensure you are fully aware and support planned events and/or have acknowledged you have received specific information. There is a weekly newsletter sent out which is a record of school life for that given week and it also gives details of clubs and other activities that are occurring for the week. Please ensure that you read the newsletter each week. Each year group sends out a letter for the term/half term, showing topic coverage and the expectations and suggestions of ways in which you can support your child. We are a signpost school for the local community, so there always leaflets and posters in school promoting activities and events in the local area.

Jesuit education's grand tradition goes back over 400 years when the Jesuits, an order of Catholic priests and brothers founded by Saint Ignatius Loyola, opened their first school in Messina, Sicily. Ever since students have been learning and growing in ways that have helped them change the world. In 1872, Saint Peter's Prep opened, offering those same opportunities to young men from throughout the region. Every day, students and teachers are challenged both inside and outside of the classroom to seek God in all things. It is difficult, to sum up in a few sentences all of the good things happening here at Prep. Even a glance at the website will give you a good sense of how diverse our student body is and the myriad academic, athletic, and co-curricular programs they enliven and succeed in every year. Our campus ministry programs allow all of our students to grow in faith and commitment to God. Over the decades, Prep has changed, and so has our historic Paulus Hook neighborhood, as an alumnus who has not visited for even a few years will tell you. Yet what remains is the faculty's commitment to continue the mission of Ignatius and the early Jesuits of academic excellence in the context of faith and service to others. The truth is, you must do some investigation and then make that comparison yourself. Every student is different, and so only you can tell if a school is the right fit. You may hope to be challenged academically, or you may need some extra help with your courses. You may be interested in one particular club or want a wide variety from which to choose. You may love an individual sport, or you may want to play several during the year. The Jesuit network of schools embraces over sixty countries. While most of our activity is centered at Grand and Warren Streets in the heart of Jersey City, we strive to expand our students' horizons to embrace the whole world as St Ignatius wanted us to do. As part of a Jesuit, Catholic, college preparatory school, the Guidance & College Counseling department concerns itself with our students' care and development. The primary goals of the department are academic and personal counseling. We seek to assist students in making decisions that affect their education and implement programs that will enable them to reach their full potential. Counselors offer academic counseling that deals with the student's practical needs: study skills, student/teacher relationships, course selection, peer relationships, career information, testing, and college selection. The goals are achieved through individual meetings and a comprehensive group guidance curriculum across four years. Prep's guidance program is an integral part of the overall educational program. As an academic course, group guidance is a scheduled class that every student takes throughout his four years. Students meet with their counselor once every cycle. The curriculum is structured, developmental, and flexible at every grade level, enabling the counselors to address the students' various needs effectively. Our office interacts with students in countless other ways between those two critical chapters. We organize co-curricular activities and student programming, advocate on behalf of students, oversee various student services, including the nurse's office and transportation issues, and are responsible for ensuring students' excellent behavior. In concert with the school's faculty and staff, our goal is to help students reflect on who they are and assist them in charting a course toward whom they want to be. We work to be student-centered, that is, to be available to our students and their parents as mentors and guides. We hope to animate an environment where students can be themselves and achieve their potential in a way that is true to our Jesuit ideals.

In the 1920s, people in St. Petersburg began to talk about the need for higher learning institutions to provide job skills training to residents of modest means. At the time, higher education only was available to those who could afford to travel to distant cities and stay there long enough to complete their studies. So in September 1927, with the backing of local business and political leaders, Florida's first two-year institution of higher learning, St. Petersburg Junior College, opened in a new wing of the then-new St. Petersburg High School. Enrollment: 102, taught by a faculty of 14. The first college president was George Lynch, who also served as Superintendent of Public Instruction, St. Petersburg Public Schools. There were 48 members of the first graduating class in 1929. More than half received state teaching certificates. At the time, the need for certified teachers in Pinellas County was great and growing, and a two-year college diploma was all that was needed for certification. In 1931, the college, which was now in its building overlooking Mirror Lake in downtown St. Petersburg, became accredited and has remained so to this day.
  16. St Mary’s and St. Peter’s is a voluntary aided primary school founded by the Church of England to provide education for the children of Teddington. The school is sponsored by the two Parish Churches of Teddington, St. Mary with St Alban and St Peter and St Paul with St Michael and St George. Children will start full-time in September following their fourth birthday. St Mary’s & St Peter’s C E Primary School is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School, sponsored equally by the two Teddington parishes reflected in its name St Mary’s with St Alban’s and St Peter & Paul with St Michael & George. At St. Mary’s and St Peter’s Church of England Primary School, we aim to provide a vision that is deeply Christian, whilst at the same time serving the common good within our community. We take the words of Jesus in John 10.10 promising ‘life in all its fullness’ seriously and believe that all within our community should be able to flourish and achieve their full potential. St Mary’s and St Peter’s Pre-school is located within the grounds of St Mary’s & St Peter’s Primary School. It provides for the educational and developmental needs of pre-school children (aged 3 and 4) and maintains very close links with the main school. It is, however, currently run independently as a registered charity by a management committee of school governors, teaching staff, and parents. St Mary’s and St Peter’s Primary School fully recognize its responsibilities for safeguarding and child protection. The Designated Safeguarding Lead is the Deputy Headteacher, Mrs. Justine Bateman, and the Assistant Headteacher, Miss Marie Richardson and the Nominated Governor for child protection is Rev’d Mary Hawes and Mrs. Anna Harrison. The role of the Nominated Governor is to meet regularly with the DSL to monitor that appropriate policies and procedures are in place and that they are being implemented correctly. Places will be considered for those children whose parents/carers have expressed a preference for St Mary's and St Peter's CE Primary School by submission of the common application form (CAF) to the Local Authority naming the school. If you are applying for a Foundation Place, the supplementary information form should also be completed and this should be returned to the school (not the local authority) by the published deadline so that the governors may give full consideration to your application. The school maintains a waiting list for children who are not initially offered a place. Parents need to inform the school if they would like their child to be kept on our waiting list. This does not happen automatically. The lists are kept indefinitely and parents are asked to inform the school if they would like their child’s name removed. Parents have the right to appeal against a decision not to offer their child a place at this school. The school operates according to the Local Authority’s appeals procedures. The school will provide the children with fruit for morning playtime in the Foundation Stage and KS1. There will be a different type of fruit each day. Children are always supervised at playtimes and any problems are dealt with quickly by the teacher on duty. Bumps or grazes are promptly dealt with by members of staff who are first aid trained. You will be informed in these situations. The reception classes have their own outdoor space. During the first few weeks, the children will have their playtimes in this area. As their confidence increases the children will gradually integrate with Year 1 and Year 2 into the main infant playground. The reception playground is specifically set each day as an outdoor classroom so we respectfully ask that you do not allow your children to play with the activities set up in this area before or after school. The Governors of the school are responsible for the strategic direction of the school and are very involved in the whole of school life. They meet as a whole group twice a term and in addition to this, they meet for regular sub-committees and serve a four-year term of office. The Chair of Governors can be contacted via the school. All Early Years providers complete an EYFS profile for each child in the final term of the year in which the child reaches the age of five. For most children, this is the Reception Year. The primary purpose of the EYFS profile is to provide a reliable, valid, and accurate assessment of individual children at the end of the EYFS. The profile describes each child’s attainment against the 17 early learning goals together with a short narrative about their learning characteristics. This information is reported to parents in the child’s end-of-year report. St Mary’s and St Peter’s Church of England Primary School (SMSP) is a mainstream school for children aged 3 to 11 years. The School’s vision statement ‘life in all its fullness’ encapsulates our belief that all within our community should be able to flourish and achieve their full potential. We are well supported by Achieving for Children to ensure that all our pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. We strive towards being as inclusive as possible in following the SEN Code of Practice (2014) and towards being able to meet the needs of all of our pupils with SEND.
  17. St. Peter's ACHS College School is an independent academic Catholic day and or residential boys school grades 1-8. Since 1990, our school, with its small classes, has offered a unique and challenging academic school program using and combining Religion, sports, and a "hands-on" approach as a part of its academic base. Our unique program is designed specifically for boys "to put the fun back into learning" and has allowed them to progress at their speed and development rate. Our enriched academic program encompasses, and in many areas, has surpassed the Ontario Ministry of Education School Curriculum expectations and guidelines. Over the years, many of our graduates have found success and have experienced a smooth transition to high school. Much of that success is mostly partly attributed to the foundations gained through the unique and individualized program offered at St. Peter's ACHS College School. Our vision is simple "Create a safe, fun, interactive learning environment for boys with a strong emphasis on excelling academically and physically at their level and pace. Our mission is to provide a unique, innovative approach that makes students excited about learning. The House System at our school is a means of encouraging students to take an active interest in the school's life through their involvement in academic, athletic, and artistic activities. At our school, we have four houses. Each student is a member of one of these houses and will remain with that house for their entire stay at St. Peter's ACHS College School. Everything a student does during his career at our school is representative of the house. Students earned points through various areas and activities and are totaled at the end of the school year. The house with the most points will be presented with the Championship House Plaque. A-Rank Leadership System is promoted at our school. Just as sports teams have a captain and assistants, all our students at our school are encouraged to achieve rank status. The Rank system is set up to help other students, staff, and the school promotes high academics and leadership skills. The rank system provides students with a mentor and teaches them to resolve conflict and problem solve and set goals to improve. Ranks assist in school government and are taught to help the students around them. Students at our school are tested regularly. At ACHS College School, assessment is ongoing and is gathered from a variety of methods and observations. Parents and students receive a written report evaluating the students' performance and achievement a minimum of three times per year. Parents are kept up to date with daily log sheets, personal interviews, and phone calls. Our school life's academic component is focused, with our efforts aimed at assisting each boy in reaching his full potential. Students work independently at their level and speed in a highly disciplined environment. We appeal to all learning styles, enabling them to work more effectively, enabling them to experience tremendous success. The school has integrated various teaching philosophies in education and stresses maximum hands-on and visual concepts derived from the Montessori Foundations of education. Students have great influence in the school regarding its policies, discipline, conduct, and program. They take ownership of their education and assist in governing the student body. At St. Peter's ACHS College School, students are expected to work hard and can do so with confidence in a comfortable setting. Class size is significant at our school. To be most effective, we have set up our classes to have no more than 15 students per classroom for grades 1-2 and no more than 20 students per classroom for grades 3-8. The overall student/staff ratio is 10:1. Our classes are kept small enough to ensure that students get a great deal of attention, support, and individualized instruction from their teachers. Our school day begins at 8:15 a.m. sharp with our national anthem's singing followed by prayers and inspection. Most mornings are devoted to the study of communication skills, including Spelling, Grammar, Creative Writing, Reading, Comprehension, French, Computers, Handwriting, and Math. Afternoons are usually set aside for Leadership Development, Religion, History, Science, Geography, Health, Outdoor Education, and Art. Religion takes an active part in our school as part of the curriculum. St. Peter's ACHS College School is actively dedicated to teaching the tenets of the Roman Catholic Faith. Students are taught Roman Catholic Doctrines, Teachings, and Values. They are taught and expected to live a Catholic lifestyle, as per our Religion under Christ. As part of this, students are expected to attend Mass regularly to help develop their faith. Non-Catholic students are welcome at our school and would be required to take Religion as a subject. Our school is proud to have students in attendance from various religious beliefs. We will not force our religious beliefs on anyone that is not a part of the Catholic Denomination.
  18. Welcome to St Peter’s Church of England Primary School in Walworth. Our school is now entering an exciting new phase of development. All of our staff are committed to continuous improvement and providing the best opportunities for every child in the school. We recognize that this can only be achieved with the valued help and support of the whole school community. St Peter’s is an inclusive school located in the heart of Walworth, SE17. We are proud to promote Christian values against the rich, cultural background that we are fortunate to find around our local area. We aim to give our children a varied worldview, enabling them to develop as responsible citizens. We strive to reach the highest possible educational standards within a caring, Christian ethos. We want our pupils to feel proud to represent the St Peter’s Church community in all aspects of school life. We encourage our children to celebrate their academic achievements, to enjoy sporting success, and to support each other at all times. It is important to us that the children can learn in a happy and safe environment. Motivation within the school is strong. We work to develop self-confidence within each child and make everyone feel valued. The school recognizes the important role that it plays within St Peter’s Church. We share a wonderful working relationship with all associated with St Peter’s. Our children participate in daily worship and attend the Church each fortnight. We are committed to working alongside the families in the local area, and greatly appreciate the continued support we receive from family and friends. We want parents to have total confidence in the school. We hope that by sharing weekly information via this website, the school will be able to communicate the high standards we are trying to achieve. At St. Peter’s CE Primary School we take our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern multicultural Britain very seriously. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed, and lived out through the ethos and work of the school. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and, in particular, our RE, SMSC, and Philosophy lessons provide excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. Children embrace concepts of, Mutual Respect, Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs, Democracy, The Rule of Law, and Individual Liberty, with pride and we continuously encourage them to demonstrate a good understanding of the application of these to their own lives. Through our curriculum, we ensure children have exposure to a wide experience beyond their local community, during which these concepts are shown, through, for example, local community events and church events, class charity work, sporting events, a range of visits to and visitors from places of cultural and educational interests in and around London. Our school’s embedded values-based ethos gives them an excellent platform for embracing difference. Our Ethos Values are promoted and celebrated in everything we do each term: Respect Peace Joy Love Trust Hope Our integrated curriculum is broad and balanced and has been organized using a subject-focused/topic-based approach that incorporates progressively the key skills set out in the National Curriculum 2014. It is enriched with trips and visits, visitors to the school, growing vegetables and gardening, cooking, and extracurricular clubs and activities. There is a core text linked to the topic each half term, from which learning in English is derived. We would like to welcome you to the Early Years Foundation Stage and hope that your child will be very happy with us at St. Peters. We hope that the time your child spends with us will be both enjoyable and rewarding. ‘Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfill their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.’ Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships, and thrive. The three prime areas: Communication and language Physical development Personal, social, and emotional development We begin using the Letters and Sounds program in Nursery by exposing children to a range of everyday sounds and encouraging them to explore noises around them. From Reception, we begin to formally teach the graphemes, blending, and segmenting skills required for children to become competent and fluent at decoding. Phonics is taught across Reception and Key Stage 1 daily to ensure children are mastering these skills.
  19. Established in 1970, St. Peter’s School has grown and diversified throughout the years to include three programs of study: National Arabic, National English Language, and American Diploma. With an easily accessible location in the heart of Heliopolis, St. Peter's school has been providing quality college-preparatory education for the local community as well as neighboring areas. With forty years of educational experience behind it, St. Peter's School has a proven record of stability and quality that has led to the graduation and success of countless students over several decades. As School Administrators, leaders, and teachers, our core mandate is to educate society through the school system. We are proud of the work we do, making difference in the lives of others, and for doing it in an environment that is recognized now as more different and difficult than before. We cover distances sometimes on foot, we cross big rivers but without life jackets and yet we work in a service where in-service training, refresher courses, and overall professional development of teachers are consistently subject to success. We intend to channel a lot of resources into professional development for our teaming membership. We fully recognize that it takes a high level of professionalism to succeed as a school that provides Quality Education. The yearly training program organized for teachers will be improved upon and expanded. We will produce a quarterly periodical that will focus on professional development and modern methods of teaching. These will help members acquaint themselves with new ways of education delivery. As people who deliver education, St Peter’s New Administration has a responsibility to influence educational policy formulation and successful implementation. There have been many occasions where teachers have been left in the dark at the formulation stages of educational policies but we are charged to make the best out of them to provide our students with quality education. As a Big entity, St Peter’s School continues to improve administratively and in terms of infrastructure to keep pace with modern trends of Education. We started some administrative reforms in our first year and we intend to follow them through in our coming years. We intend to make the School very close and more responsive to the needs of our students. Leadership will be handy to attend to the needs of Team members at all levels. And as All School Members share common interests, it is our vision to strengthen all forms of collaboration so that with unity in diversity we can work together to move education forward. We will also work hand in hand with all members of the school to ensure that we always get the highest level of output from everyone around. Our vision is to build confidence in the teaching profession. We will work to achieve a profession whose membership will be respected by society under their professional capabilities, their work ethics, and their ability to inspire success in the next generation. We are planning to collaborate and dialogue with all parents to make and reach the best of our students. Issues of full utilization of instructional hours, pruning down of class sizes, advocacy for more funds for procurement of teaching and learning materials, advocacy for curriculum reforms, and teacher motivation are also going to be given due attention. By this, our research department will be empowered to be able to provide useful information that will help improve education all around the school. As we do agree that Education has dominated the world’s attention for the past few years and took a chunk of the Country's resources, we believe St Peter’s deserves even more in the post-2015-16 agenda. Therefore, we will not focus on just access to Education but access to quality education. Therefore, “The Move for Quality Education” will be our Slogan during the next phase. Indeed there are challenges ahead but with the support of everyone here, the sky shall be the limit.
  20. As a Church of England School, we seek to provide a Christian education for the children of the parish of St. Peter’s London Docks and for those who elect to come to our school. Children are presented with the teachings of the Christian faith as the revelation of God’s truth and are encouraged to grow in that faith, respecting the beliefs and cultures of others. Education is seen as being concerned with excellence in learning and for the spiritual and social growth of children, developing the individual potential of each child to the fullest. Every day at St Peter’s Primary School, the staff & governors work to make sure that St Peter’s children: Have respect for themselves and others. Are enthusiastic, enquiring learners. Know what it feels like to have done their best and achieve. Understand the value of prayer and its place in their lives. Understand the importance of goodness, honesty, and hard work. Have a clear set of values understanding their rights and responsibilities. Have the skills and opportunity to work collaboratively. Have shared friendship & learned how to get along well with other people. Have happy memories of their time with us. Have aspirations to embrace every opportunity to further their education, knowledge, skills, and interests, throughout their lives. At St Peter’s lots of learning takes place in cross-curricular lessons based on a theme. Each term every class studies a different theme, some are science-based, some are historical and others have a geographical bias. Our literacy work is often based around ‘Dramatic Improvement in Writing’ themes which feedback into our creative curriculum topic. For example, our year one child read ‘Whatever Next!’ and write about baby Bear’s adventures as part of their ‘To Infinity and Beyond!’ space theme. Literacy learning focuses on children rehearsing their ideas orally through drama and speaking and listening activities to fully engage children in the writing process and develop their technical and creative writing skills. At St Peter’s we view ‘learning beyond the classroom’ as an essential part of our children’s learning and development. We realize the importance of our children making links between what they have learned in school and their local community and beyond. As such, we actively build opportunities for regular trips and visits to museums, galleries, theatres, and places of interest. We think carefully about providing our children with ‘tasters’ for a wide range of culturally enriching experiences which include: our year 6 children annually attending ballet/opera at the Royal Opera house, our KS2 children visiting a West End production each year, and taking children to eat together at a restaurant. At St Peter’s we are a ‘Sing Up’ school as we value the shared experience that collective singing brings to our children and developing their sense of community. We seek out opportunities for our children, and our school choir, to perform to an audience as well as work in partnership with other local schools through projects such as ‘Tower Voices.’ Our Music coordinator teaches music sessions linked to classes’ creative curriculum themes. In addition, our lower Key stage two classes learn to play the guitar, whilst our upper key stage two classes develop their percussion skills through learning to play the Glockenspiel. The instrumental tuition is provided by high-quality professionals from the Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES). This includes opportunities for pupils to learn saxophone, keyboards, violins, and guitars after school. As a school with ‘Advanced Healthy Schools’ status, we focus on children’s personal, health, social and emotional development. Our PSHE lessons are focused on key aspects of developing a “whole child”, British values, and our school values. Every class takes part in regular circle time sessions and our values also feature regularly in whole school assemblies. The staff is proud that inclusion is at the heart of all our practice. We believe that an inclusive school is a successful, happy school. We aim to provide an environment that is a safe, respectful, and fun place for every pupil to learn. By staff ‘living’ the school's vision and values we ensure that all pupils are included in all aspects of learning and school life. Our values also inform how we work with parents and each other as a staff team.

  22. St Peter's is an established Roman Catholic high school providing excellent pupil care, high-quality teaching, and strong academic results. We offer our pupils numerous opportunities to fulfill their potential and develop their unique individual talents, through a range of extra-curricular activities such as sports. Indeed, St Peter's regularly achieves sporting success at the local, regional and national levels. St Peter's is an inclusive school. We work closely with our partner primary schools to support pupils in the transfer to high school at St Peter's we give pupils every assistance and encouragement to succeed and to proceed to one of our partner sixth form colleges, Loreto or Xaverian before they move to university or the world of work. St Peter's RC High School is a community founded on mutual love and care for the individual in which the Faith of the Church underpins all our activities. Christ is our model in striving for excellence in all that we do and in valuing the unique contribution and gift of every member of our school community. St Peter's is committed to working with home and parish to enable all pupils to succeed in life. All schools are required to promote British values as part of the ‘Prevent Strategy’ (2011), which was designed to prevent the extremism and religious radicalization of young people. The government defines British values as ‘democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.’At St Peter’s we teach the importance of British values within a broader framework of Catholic values. Drawing on the example of Jesus and his welcome and inclusion of all, we are guided by our mission statement ‘Stay with us Lord on our journey and by the Christian values of honorable purpose (vocation and service), respect, compassion, co-operation, and stewardship. The curriculum is outstanding and fully meets pupils' needs. Imaginative and bold strategies within the Pathfinder initiative enable pupils to follow programs that are tailored to meet the wide range of different needs – OFSTED Staff are sensitive to the needs of new pupils and ensure they are well supported as they transfer to St Peter's. When pupils begin in year 7 they are placed in sets based on KS2 SATs levels and reports from their primary schools. In year 8 there is an extended setting based on ability in individual subjects. Our broad and balanced curriculum covers the full national curriculum, and pupils have the opportunity to learn Spanish and French as a modern language. In year 9 pupils at St Peter's follow a 'Pathfinder' curriculum. This has some important differences from what is usually offered at Key Stage 3. The 'Pathfinder' gives pupils at St Peter's the opportunity to choose new subjects and to begin their GCSE and Vocational courses a year early in year 9. All pupils still follow a 'core' of essential subjects. Beginning the additional courses they wish to follow in year 9 rather than year 10 allows pupils to concentrate on what they want to do and to develop greater expertise in their chosen subjects. For a full account of the 'Pathfinder' curriculum, please download and read the key stage 4 curriculum options booklet which is given to pupils in year 8 to prepare them to make choices for year 9. In years 10 and 11 all pupils continue with the core of compulsory subjects and the optional subjects they have begun in year 9. The Pupil Premium was introduced by the Government in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to support pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as 'Ever 6 FSM'). Schools are encouraged by the Department for Education to use the money to 'narrow the gap' in attainment between pupils in receipt of Free School Meals or those who are 'Looked After' as nationally there is a disparity between their attainment at GCSE and their peers. The Student Council meets monthly to discuss positive changes that can be made to the school to maintain its high levels of attendance, punctuality, and behavior for all its pupils. There are two representatives from each year group who feedback the information to each form so that every pupil at St Peter’s has a voice. Sport plays an important part in the life of the school. All the pupils take part in a wide range of sporting activities both of a competitive and non-competitive nature. Pupils achieve extraordinary levels of success winning Manchester schools and Greater Manchester schools Championships at several sports every year. We have both boys and girls teams in all sports. We are regularly regional and North West champions at Athletics in several age groups. We have been playing rugby league for a few years now. The boys have won the North West schools competition for the last two years. The girls, however, have become one of the strongest schools nationally winning 3 North West titles this year and 3 national titles in the last two years. In cheerleading and dance, we have won 2 national championships. Here at St Peter’s, we are committed to keeping your child safe both in the time they spend with us and in their future lives. We strive to ensure that young people are alert to potential dangers in the world around them and can make informed and sensible choices. As well as weekly assemblies, dedicated Form Period sessions, and a strong Access curriculum, we engage with experts on a variety of issues to make sure all our staff can support young people in having a healthy lifestyle and fulfilling their potential.
  23. We are delighted, on behalf of all our Governing Bodies and staff to welcome you to St Peter’s R.C. Primary School. Our prospectus is intended to be a source of information, guidance, support, and assistance to enable you, your child, and your family to have a complete and personal educational experience with us. If your child is about to join us for the first time, we welcome you warmly as parents and look forward to a happy and successful relationship over the coming years. If you already have a child at our school, we hope this prospectus will contribute positively to you and your child’s journey as lifelong learners with us. The ethos and foundation of our Catholic School are embodied in the curriculum we offer to the children that we care for. We, in partnership with our parents and other stakeholders, encourage and enhance the spiritual, moral, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child. We strive to provide a safe, secure, stimulating environment in which our children are happy and develop at a pace that matches their potential. We have a committed and dedicated staff who care for, encourage, guide, support, and challenge, each child each day. We strive to offer each child opportunities for achievement and educational attainment that are of the highest standard. We have developed an environment where children are allowed the power of self-expression within clearly accepted boundaries. Ultimately we seek to be a community that complements the influences and example of home and the parish in attempting to live out the values of the Gospel. As a Catholic School, we believe that every child is unique and has God-given gifts, talents, skills, and potential. We all work hard to move towards the vision we have for our school through our mission statement. We would be pleased to have the opportunity to show prospective parents around our school when the atmosphere and ethos can be seen first hand. We welcome this as an opportunity to explain our aims, objectives and to be able to answer any questions you may have. Please contact the School Business Manager in the first instance. A mutually convenient time will then be arranged for an individual or family visit to the school in the company of one of our staff who will be able to expand upon our educational philosophy and practice, answer questions, and clarify any issues We recognize each child has one chance with their education. At St Peter’s we want to work in partnership with you to realize your child’s full potential. We believe that together we hold the keys to unlock the doors to your child’s future. We aim to make an impression and exert an influence upon your child that stay with them for the rest of their lives. An example of this is that this website has been developed, maintained, and funded by a former pupil of St. Peter’s who is now a director of his own company and has a family of his own. When I asked him why he wanted to support us in this way he said: “When I came to the school everything was different from what we had experienced to that point. The school and all the people who were part of it helped and encouraged me to work hard and do my best. It is a way of saying Thank You.”
  24. St. Peter’s Primary is a Roman Catholic School situated in the Morningside area of Edinburgh. Our School aims to provide a learning environment where all pupils are happy, confident, and secure where each child acquires knowledge, skills, and understanding, to the very best of his/her ability, in an atmosphere that fosters concern for others and a sense of self-worth. At St. Peter’s RC Primary, we aim to provide a welcoming, inclusive learning environment of the highest quality where all pupils are happy, safe, confident, secure and where each child acquires the necessary skills for learning and skills for life. We strive to provide a learning community where everyone strives to reach his/her spiritual, moral, physical, mental, and educational potential. Our staff, pupils, parents, and carers all contribute towards building a positive ethos, which values and respects each individual and encourages working together in partnership for the good of all, by our Catholic faith. St Peter’s R.C. Primary School opened in 1910. A new school was built on the Morningside site, which opened in April 2005. The school serves a large catchment area in South Edinburgh, which includes the Roman Catholic parish of St Peter’s and parts of the parishes of St Columba’s, the Sacred Heart, St Albert the Great, and St Patrick’s. There are 21 class teachers, some of whom are part-time. The senior management team is made up of the Head Teacher, two part time Depute Head Teachers, and a Principal Teacher, each with a class teaching commitment, which allows them to support the learning and teaching throughout the school, in addition to their management responsibilities, and the Business Manager. Learners are further supported by a full-time Support for Learning teacher. The Nursery is staffed by one full-time teacher and two full-time Early Years Practitioners, as well as a trainee Early Years Practitioner. There is a part-time Physical Education specialist teacher (2 days). The teaching of Music is supported for 1 and a half days and Art for one day. Violin and cello instructors visit for one-half day per week. The Parent Council and the PTA play a very large part in helping to create the warm ethos which exists in the school. A busy calendar of family, social, and fundraising events is organized by the PTA. The Parent Council replaced the School Board in September 2007 as required by the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006. There is a very popular breakfast and after-school care club catering for pupils from P1 to P7. A wide variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs are available.
  25. Our children are at the heart of everything we do through Christian values and relationships, Living and learning together we celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of everyone in our family. We nurture a sense of self-belief, mutual respect, and belonging through Social Emotional Learning and academic excellence. We are dedicated to building the foundations for happy and successful life-long learning. As part of All Saints Academy, we have actively refurbished our building to make it a safer and more stimulating environment for our children. By heavily investing in high-quality resources and state-of-the-art ICT facilities we are providing the tools for our expanding staff team to deliver an exciting school curriculum. We are proud of the relationships that we have with all members of the school community and especially the parents. At the start of each year, we send our school magazine home which will include details of upcoming events as well as celebrating some of the exciting things we do. Every Friday we send home a school newsletter containing the latest information and celebrating the children’s success. As much as we would like to share everything we do in school with the children, we know that there is far too much that goes on to summarise it all in one booklet, magazine, or newsletter. This is why we believe conversations and building relationships are so important. Class-based staff is on the playground as you pick your children up and this a great opportunity to catch up with daily events. The Senior Leadership Team is always available at the beginning and end of each day at the gate. Christian values and relationships are at the heart of everything we do. The values of the Christian faith form the basis of how we treat each other and how we invest heavily in all our relationships. We have respect for all, regardless of religious denominations, faith, or no faith at all. Children are encouraged to respect the religious and cultural backgrounds of all people, noticing similarities between people, and celebrating differences. We have a vast range of extended school activities including breakfast clubs, after-school activities, and residential visits. We have strong links with our churches and are actively developing these partnerships to serve the local communities. The high ethnic diversity in our schools helps us to learn how to build and better understand cross-cultural relationships within our school family. This has aided our partnerships in Jamaica where we have well-established global partnership links with schools in Jamaica. our children’s learning as broad, exciting, and appealing as possible which in turn achieves high standards in every aspect of their learning. Our aim is for children to be inspired in all areas of school life and to become independent learners equipped for the future. Celebrating every child’s achievement is part of daily school life. We enjoy sharing the children’s successes both in and out of the classroom. We have regular celebration assemblies and invite friends and family to join us. Educational visits, outdoor learning, and residential visits are carefully planned which are a key part of teaching and learning in school. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is how we teach our children fundamental life skills. We believe it is important to teach the ‘whole child’ and not just focus on academic learning. SEL gives children the skills to develop self-belief, mutual respect, and belonging within our community. We cannot ‘teach’ these skills as a one-off. There is a need to revisit and develop the concepts, understanding, and skills over time, building on what has been learned previously. We give children regular, planned opportunities to refer to and make appropriate use of Social and Emotional Learning across the curriculum, and in the choices, they make about their behavior and attendance – only then can we honestly say we have equipped our pupils with the skills they need to realize their potential. We have high expectations of behavior and attitudes to learning and are working hard with the children so that they can independently make the right choices which will develop a culture of mutual respect between children, staff, parents, and the community. We believe that a strong partnership between children, parents, staff, and directors is vital if the children are to be happy and successful life-long learners. The world is rapidly changing and we need to prepare our children to succeed in all areas of life. We are committed to meeting every need of each pupil. We provide all the children with experiences that will encourage participation, enjoyment, physical development, social skills, and an independent interest in health and fitness.
