  1. Everyone Counts, Everyone Contributes, Everyone Succeeds. These are the words that look down on us when we come together for our daily assemblies, break, and lunchtimes. We take great pride in these sentiments which form the core ethos of our school community and represent the essence of life at Newman Catholic College. I am proud to lead a school where the care and support for each individual are combined with an insistence upon the highest standards of achievement and progress for boys of all abilities. The College is an institution where care and support for each individual are combined with an insistence upon the highest standards of achievement and progress for students of all abilities. Our ambition is to highlight each student’s strengths and build on the skills that they need to develop to achieve academically and be successful contributors to their family life and the wider community. In practical terms, this means that our ethos has wide support amongst the community and ensures that the school welcomes young people of all faiths and backgrounds. Newman Catholic College is a happy and positive environment in which to study and work. Attendance is above the national average and the school is growing rapidly. We firmly believe that the excellent relationships that exist across the school community form the foundation of success for all. We place academic achievement at the heart of all we do and celebrate pupil success during every assembly. The school formally assesses all pupils six times during the year including two internal examination weeks. We strive to ensure our recent successes in academic attainment and progress continue to grow. Newman Catholic College seeks to develop the whole person. We are a Catholic School inspired in our mission by the vision of life that is found in the teaching of the Gospel, the Church, sacramental life, and in Jesus Christ, who came that we ‘may have life and have it to the full’. We work in partnership in mutual service for the benefit of all. We prepare our young people for life beyond school as citizens in the community and to enable them to serve as examples to moral and spiritual values in the world, developing a sense of justice so that they ‘act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God’/ Our charity work demonstrates our willingness to help others outside the school community, whether locally, nationally, or internationally. Our students participate in a wide range of charitable events and fundraising activities. Our support of CAFOD in its efforts to relieve poverty in the developing world also educates our students. At Newman Catholic College we are proud of our diversity and inclusivity. We encourage our students to adhere to 'Newman Values', which is how we link British Values with our Catholic Ethos. Newman values are: We are all responsible for our actions and the impact they have upon others. We respect the right of others to learn and are prepared to learn ourselves. We actively contribute to the life of the school and the wider community. We respect the faiths, cultures, and values of others in our community. We recognize that the purpose of rules and laws is for the good of everyone. We treat others as we would like to be treated. The curriculum allows each student to experience a broad, balanced, insightful, and challenging curriculum whilst developing their interests and talents to the best of their potential. We follow the national curriculum and this is reviewed annually. The curriculum is organized into a two-week timetable and lessons are taught in one-hour periods. Most lessons are taught in singles and doubles for relevant practical lessons. To ensure all pupils are equipped to achieve academic success NBC sixth form students developed into global citizens well prepared for the next stage of their lives and active members of our school community. Our Sixth Form is a vibrant, diverse, and successful community that consists of 140 young people male and female who have chosen to continue their studies with us at an advanced and intermediate level. I am proud to say that we have students from all over the world currently studying with us. A vast number of our students are comprised from the lower school however we fully welcome applications from external students and those who have previously studied abroad.
  2. Founded in 1903, Isidore Newman School is a co-educational independent school that serves high-achieving and highly motivated students in Pre-K through 12th grade. In 2015 we opened Green Trees Early Childhood Village for children ages six weeks to four years old. Newman is located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans, blocks away from Tulane and Loyola University. With a current enrollment of just over 1,055 students, Newman is the only accredited co-educational, non-sectarian, independent day school in New Orleans. Our School enjoys a national reputation for excellence and achievement in academics, athletics, and the arts, with our students matriculating to the most selective colleges and universities in the country. At Newman, we believe that the most fundamental teaching and learning element is the relationship between student and teacher. We recruit nationally to attract the most talented educators. Our students engage and thrive at Newman because our teachers challenge them and care deeply about them as scholars and people. Essential to our school culture at Newman are high expectations in all endeavors and all school areas. Newman values each individual. Newman is committed to the intellectual, ethical, emotional, and physical development of each student. Newman instills in each student the School's core values of honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility, and develops in each student self-confidence and an appreciation for cultural and personal differences. Newman offers a challenging, comprehensive, and sequential curriculum from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, which encourages creativity, critical and independent thinking, and different learning ways. Newman promotes academic excellence and celebrates participation and accomplishment in the fine arts and athletics. Newman admits students without regard to physical handicap, race, color, gender, national and ethnic origin, or sexual orientation to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to students. It does not discriminate in the administration of educational policies, financial aid programs, athletic programs, or any other school-administered programs. With a passionate, experienced faculty and a rich and challenging curriculum, Newman provides the ideal environment for students to achieve their full potential. Students are encouraged to work hard, dream big, and see academic success as an exciting and worthwhile pursuit. Nearly one-fourth of Newman students have received National Merit recognition in the past five years, and Newman counts three Rhodes scholars among its alumni. Academics at Newman provide the foundation needed for success in college and the 21st-century global community. Newman provides a sequential, strategically aligned curriculum in the School's four divisions, beginning with children six weeks old and continuing through 12th grade.
  3. The Jansen Newman Institute (JNI) is an academic institution with a strong industry reputation for launching and developing the careers of motivated students in counseling, psychotherapy, and community services. Using a skills-based teaching model, we offer a breadth of academically rigorous, practical programs from diploma to Master level courses. Each course offers an opportunity to enhance students' skills and abilities in listening, empathizing with others, and nurturing those in their care to guide individuals and communities through change, discovery, and development. We value students with rich life experiences and a strong desire to learn, grow, and improve others' lives. In turn, we are deeply committed to nurturing each student's journey as they work towards this path. Along the way, our students are encouraged to reflect on and develop their innate and practical skills during their course, both in class and through work placements and counseling services to the public. Our on-site clinic, The Wellbeing Clinic at Pyrmont Campus, is a fundamental component of our courses. Here students can fine-tune their counseling and therapy skills with real clients under the careful supervision and guidance of JNI staff, who are themselves qualified and practicing clinicians. These sessions and all our courses overall are focused on enhancing class learnings and providing students with the confidence to start practicing counseling and therapy immediately upon graduation. JNI has been transforming the lives of our students for over 30 years. Recently, JNI has broadened its course offerings to include a more comprehensive investigation of the social sciences, including Community Services. This has allowed our students to explore new aspects of human relationships while experiencing the rich counseling tradition that runs through JNI. We are proud that our graduates are skilled practitioners who care beyond what is expected. They inspire change by helping others be heard, and through this, make a real difference in the broader community. JNI is a leading academic institution that has been transforming our students' lives for over 30 years. We believe that emerging professionals do not just require theoretical knowledge but also a skills-based teaching model and supportive learning environment that nurtures each individual's potential to grow as an individual and professional. 4. From the beginning of their school experience, Newman students are engaged in becoming educated adults through their interaction with the exciting environment of one of the world's greatest cities, Boston. A recent graduate reflected that Newman is "not high school; it is a little university." The Back Bay neighborhood, which is our home, is truly the Heart of Boston, often referred to as "the Athens of America." The Boston Public Library is our library, and the Charles River Esplanade is our home cross-country course; the Charles River itself is the venue for our crew teams. Our students attend lectures by visiting scholars and regularly visit museums such as The Isabella Stewart Gardner and the Museum of Fine Arts. John Henry Cardinal Newman noted that a great city attracts the best minds, the most outstanding art, the most important political thinkers. He knew that education was about much more than the communication of facts: it helped the student become a fully human person, ready to make their contribution in life. At Newman, we will challenge you to grow, both intellectually and personally. We care what sort of person you will become, and we passionately believe that you have a contribution to make. We are sure that you need to learn to challenge yourself, lead others, and learn from others for you to make that contribution. At Newman, you will meet people from all over the world. Like you, they come to Boston to become a part of something tremendous and prepare to make their contributions. Sports, activities, community service, friendship, and support of teachers who care for you and are passionate about learning are integral parts of the Newman experience. We are a college-preparatory school, and a broad selection of course work helps students demonstrate their capability for success in colleges and universities. Currently, Newman alumni are enrolled at such schools as Harvard, Tufts, Cornell, Columbia, Boston University, Worcester Polytechnical, Brandeis, College of the Holy Cross, Boston College, Connecticut College, University of Michigan, McGill University, and the University of Southern California. Founded in 1945, The Newman School, an independent day school in the Catholic tradition, prepares young women and men from Greater Boston and worldwide for success in university and college studies and life. With a school culture that is uniquely welcoming and supportive, Newman provides students from broadly diverse backgrounds an opportunity to pursue serious studies in the company of like-minded peers and instructors. Studies are organized around the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme principles, and students have the option of pursuing the full IB Diploma or those portions of it that meet their needs and aspirations. Guided by Cardinal Newman's motto, Cor ad Cor loquitur - Heart speaks to Heart, the school believes that students can achieve their potential when pursuing their studies in an environment of mutual respect, integrity, and seriousness purpose, and civic responsibility. A vibrant program of activities and sports provides students with opportunities for personal growth beyond the classroom. The Newman School offers a rigorous traditional liberal arts curriculum in preparation for the academic demands of college. Steeped in an academic philosophy based on critical thinking, students are encouraged to reach beyond simple answers to the subject's root, developing the reasoning skills that fuel academic success. Students are challenged to strive toward academic excellence, social consciousness, integrity, and independence within an atmosphere of high standards and expectations. Through interdisciplinary learning, students make meaningful connections between their learning and their world, a process of discovery that encourages thinking of depth and purpose. In addition to a traditional curriculum, The Newman School offers an International Baccalaureate degree program that students may take advantage of in their Junior and Senior years. Students in both programs benefit from diverse elective options as they take advantage of all that the school offers, including athletics, community service opportunities, clubs, and academic teams. 5. Founded in 1933, Newman University is grounded in Catholic values and traditions, yet is respectful of all faith traditions. At Newman, you'll find people, programs, organizations, and activities designed to educate your mind and inspire your spirit. The main campus is located in Wichita, Kansas, with outreach sites in Southeast Kansas, Western Kansas, Colorado Springs, Colorado. And Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Newman is a sponsored ministry of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, United States Region. Newman University is a Catholic university named after John Henry Cardinal Newman and founded by the Adorers of the Blood of Christ to empower graduates to transform society. As a Catholic institution of higher learning, Newman finds guidance in Ex Corde ecclesiae and other Catholic Church teachings and draws nourishment from its relationships with surrounding Catholic communities and dioceses. At the same time, our Catholic identity is distinctively shaped by the influence both of our founders and sponsors, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, and our namesake, the Catholic theologian and educator John Henry Cardinal Newman. From the Adorers, we receive our unique mission of developing and empowering our graduates to work for society's betterment—a mission inspired by the Adorers' founder, Saint Maria De Mattias. From Cardinal Newman, we inherit our university's vision as an institution that educates the whole person to seek the truth and lead a meaningful and purposeful life. Finally, with a strong liberal arts foundation, our curriculum honors our Catholic intellectual heritage's richness and vitality while affirming the value of dialogue involving persons of varied cultures and religious traditions. Following the ideals of Cardinal Newman, we seek to educate the whole person. A firm grounding in the liberal arts strengthens all our programs and instills habits of lifelong learning that will accompany graduates as they pursue various personal, academic, and professional goals. Newman's faculty strives to utilize best practices in instruction, the insights derived from scholarly research, and a culture of assessment to promote classroom and program improvement. At the same time, Newman's small college atmosphere facilitates the development of an active, dynamic learning community. Also, Newman University has a special mission—to make an environment of academic excellence available to a diverse range of students, and to empower those students through the education we provide, to transform the world. In sum, it is the development of the intellectual, moral, and spiritual capabilities of the entire university community combined with our collective dedication to promoting peace and social justice that characterizes academic excellence at Newman University. The passion for serving others is integral to the missions of both Newman University and the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. We actualize this mandate by fostering a distinctive culture of service in which each member of the community is encouraged to find personally fulfilling ways of growing through giving. Manifestly, gifts of time and talent are visible symbols of our commitment to transforming the human condition. Simultaneously, service is also transformative for the student who successfully develops a critical consciousness that hunger and thirst for justice and peace. Through our Christ-centered humanitarian commitment to serving the underserved, we honor that joint mission, which we share with our founders and sponsors, namely developing and empowering people. Newman University is committed to promoting an interdependent global perspective formed by a critical consciousness that hungers and thirsts for justice and peace. More than just an awareness of other cultures, such a perspective affirms all of creation's interdependent nature. At the same time, it speaks to the ideal of the educated person in the modern world: a person who possesses a strong sense of self yet embraces difference, a person who not only seeks knowledge but effectively applies it, a person of broad vision who remains well-grounded. To this end, we seek to engage a diverse array of students in outstanding educational experiences designed to cultivate the knowledge, skills, and values they will need to become leaders in transforming an increasingly complex and interconnected world. When the economy turns south, many adults seize the moment to rebuild or add to their core skill set. Newman adult students represent hard-working mothers, fathers, laid-off workers, soldiers, and others who want to further their education, certification, or training. High academic standards, faculty mentors, and small classes are vital components Newman provides for your success. College life is more than classes, books, tests, and residence hall rooms- it's connecting with other people, making lifelong friends and future colleagues, and building relationships with experienced faculty who can be a resource in your career and life for years to come. College life is spending time with your friends on the weekend, going out to eat even though you're broke, and still finding ways to have the time of your life. Also, it's finding ways to feed the spirit and the body as well as the mind.

View full university
