  1. MBIS is a well-established and highly respected school in Cairo, offering a first-class education to expatriate children. Our friendly, multi-cultural school truly represents the spirit of internationalism with nearly 330 children aged 2 to 13 years from 40 different countries. The highly experienced British staff and small class sizes ensure individual attention, excellence in teaching, and enjoyment of learning. Our children also benefit from specialist teachers in ICT, music, second languages, drama, and PE. We combine high standards with a rich and broad range of learning experiences based on the English National Curriculum. Our very attractive, well-resourced, and stimulating learning environment encourages children to explore, question, experiment, build confidence and acquire independence. At MBIS, children quickly identify themselves as enthusiastic and effective learners, fully developing their potential within a framework of caring values and mutual respect. MBIS provides a secure environment for children adjusting to relocation or starting school for the first time. Our door is always open. We recognize that parents and teachers need to work together to ensure all our children enjoy a happy and successful time. Maadi British International School provides children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding that will empower them to be well-rounded, successful members of an ever-changing, culturally diverse world community. At Maadi British International School we are committed to providing a happy, positive learning environment where children, teenagers, and adults are: Successful independent and collaborative learners Confident, cooperative team players and responsible leaders Flexible, resourceful, and resilient Reflective, honest, and trustworthy Responsible, caring global citizens The English National Curriculum (ENC) is widely regarded as a rigorous program that ensures a high-quality provision. It is recognized and valued by the international community. As a British school overseas, our curriculum is firmly based on the ENC and fully reflects recent changes made by the UK government. Equally, our curriculum is very much a learning program for the 21st century, carefully tailored to meet the needs of our global students. In other words, whilst the ENC directs what to teach, our curriculum provides a unique vehicle of delivery, the how to teach. At MBIS, the programs of study carry the learning objectives of the ENC through topics that have real appeal and relevance to the children. The children are truly ‘hooked’ by what they are learning and consequently, their motivation, application, and quality of learning are all enhanced. In our creative curriculum, the teaching is thematic, with subjects across the curriculum meaningfully linked, supporting children’s understanding of ‘the big picture. Learning is making connections and our creative curriculum explicitly supports this. MBIS has a deserved reputation for the highest academic standards and a caring and inclusive approach to education. Expansion and relocation have allowed us to combine this with excellent facilities including spacious classrooms, an indoor 25m swimming pool, multi-purpose hall and theatre, two computer suites, a science laboratory, art and design center, a cookery room, a specialist Nursery section, and well-equipped play facilities. With each stage of our growth, we have built confidently upon our achievements to enhance the learning experiences of our children. A future-focused approach to school development will ensure the continued success of MBIS.
  2. At MCS we provide a caring learning environment, where our expectations of the students – both academically and personally – are challenging. We explicitly teach Intellectual Character Virtues to our students, supporting them as they develop Intellectual Courage, Curiosity, Carefulness, Fair-mindedness, Tenacity, Humility, and Honesty. We also encourage our staff to continue to grow their faith and develop their professional skills through in-service training and external accreditation. The school uses the British National Curriculum for England & Wales and aims to meet or surpass the British National standards we are not a postal service delivering a curriculum, we are here to facilitate, inspire and challenge our students to greater heights, more complex questioning skills, critical thinking, and understanding. Each teacher has the target statements or key objectives for Maths and English, Science, etc made available to them and receives training on this during the induction week in August before school begins. This training runs alongside a focus on brain-compatible learning, modalities, and so on. The children come from over 11 different countries. We set standards as though the children are all native English speakers and the majority of our children speak English fluently. There is a minimum level of English, which children need to have before they can enter the school although we have seen an influx of families from non-English speaking countries and therefore we have expanded our EAL provision. Extra curricula activities always vary. We have had Dance, Music appreciation and composition, Still-life drawing, Eco Warriors, Choir, Violin, Guitar, Trumpet, Soccer, Basketball, Chess, Drama, Pickleball, Four Square, and African Drumming clubs. The PE program has included tennis coaching, gymnastics, swimming, basketball, and badminton. Many students also participate in extracurricular sports run in Maadi by parents from various schools. These include baseball, soccer, and basketball at various times during the year. We are committed to incorporating the explicit teaching of our seven intellectual virtues throughout all key stages: intellectual courage, intellectual carefulness, intellectual tenacity, intellectual fair-mindedness, intellectual curiosity, intellectual honesty, and intellectual humility. Maadi Community School educates students to become independent thinkers, life-long learners, to respect others, and to integrate a Christian worldview into their lives – focussing on the ‘whole child. Our Mission is that Maadi Community School will: Integrate Christian faith and dynamic learning in its curriculum and teaching. Encourage students to reach their potential through excellence in curriculum, teaching, and management. Aim to exceed internationally recognized academic standards through excellence in teaching, studies, and school administration. Create a nurturing Christian environment. Equip students to influence their world through Biblical thought, action, and character. MCS provides a positive spiritual and diverse educational experience for all students and their families. MCS primarily serves the children of expatriate development workers in unison with local & international churches, which extends to and includes the wider community. The core structure of the curriculum at Maadi Community School is the National Curriculum for England and Wales. To this, we add the ACSI Bible program and the study of the Arabic language. We are now offering International General Certificates of Secondary Education (IGCSEs) to Key Stage 4 students. We have partnered with NorthStar Worldwide, an online British curriculum provider that provides excellent qualified teachers. KS 4 students are fully immersed in MCS school life as they enjoy supplementary tutoring from our subject specialist teachers and participate in Art, PE, CAS, field trips, and break times with the other secondary pupils.
