The UNIL seeks, in particular, to encourage a cross-disciplinary approach to research.
      3. At Business School Lausanne, we approach business education differently. Building a new generation of leadership has become essential to create learning programs that address the fundamental changes of working in the 21st century. This includes focusing on how digital transformation, current economic trends, societal structure changes, and environmental concerns have transformed the business landscape. Based in Switzerland, we are a truly global learning lab. Students from sixty nationalities with diverse backgrounds join our experienced faculty in a co-creative approach to learning, focusing on topics as broad as leadership, systems thinking, economics, and business-driven sustainability. Our faculty comprises individuals who have run successful businesses and have practically applied what they teach in real-world situations, ensuring our students are taught the most cutting-edge business thinking. BSL is committed to creating a personalized and focused learning experience for each of our students. This is why we insist on keeping our classes small. So each student has the opportunity to truly participate in seeking new ideas for measuring the role and impact of business in today's society. We endeavor to create a space where all of our students, professors, staff, researchers, and stakeholders, feel free to come together to ask courageous questions and maximize solutions through values that matter because the connection is key to tackling issues for the common good. We teach our students big picture thinking to develop innovative cross-sector solutions, which we believe will help them realize their true potential in whatever avenue of business they choose to pursue. Pursuing a BSL degree gives you the chance to live and study in Switzerland, a multilingual country with a culturally diverse population and a growing ex-pat community. You will have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, enhance your cross-cultural skills, learn new languages, and develop a global mindset. BSL students benefit from the school's proximity to many international organizations and large corporations in the Geneva Lake region. With its banking, commercial, and tourism infrastructure, Switzerland ranks among the world's 20 largest economies and hosts 15 Fortune 500 companies. We are committed to creating and maintaining a civic business school with an international reputation for shaping responsible management behavior. Our Mission is to provide a learning platform that enables individuals and organizations to thrive by co-creating viable business solutions for our planet and its people. We aim to: Deliver teaching and learning opportunities of the highest quality. Be recognized internationally as an innovator in responsible business education. To be relevant to industry so that they value our opinion and our graduates. Our six values support our three cornerstones and allow us to measure our intentions, behavior, and actions. These commonly developed values have been guiding the collaboration among all our stakeholders – from students to professors and administrative staff and our business partners, parents, and friends of our students, our suppliers, and partners in society. BSL's student council is responsible for organizing events and cultural activities on and off-campus throughout the year to bring students together to build relationships and network. You can look forward to welcoming parties for new students, our much-loved Culture days, BBQs, and many other exciting social events. Our council is also dedicated to giving back, so they have some humanitarian projects they are involved in, and we encourage our full student body to get involved. BSL offers a dynamic and enthusiastic team of professors. In line with the school's pragmatic approach, they have been carefully selected based on their abilities to combine real-life experience with classroom learning. All are current and accomplished business professionals, incorporating today's issues and challenges into their lectures. As seasoned business professionals, BSL professors live in a world of bottom-line responsibility and effective management. They originate from many cultural backgrounds, and most have practiced business in two or more countries. This level of diversity and multicultural experience provides BSL students with unique perspectives on problem-solving. BSL professors are excellent communicators and mentors, often working one-on-one with students. Their goal is to see students succeed, and they provide a continuous assessment of students' development. Students are trained and assessed based on their ability to be successful in today's business environment. At BSL, we are all bound by our shared passion for conducting our business (and indeed our life) in a way that does good in the world. Through these stories, we discover the infinite number of different ways that diversity can make this typical goal manifest itself. Humans of BSL celebrates this diversity and commonality and slowly reveals through its wonderfully unique Humans, the Soul of BSL.
      4. Innovation and Technology Transfer in our complex world can only be successfully achieved in close relation with industry. The Vice Presidency for Innovation (VPI) is dedicated to enhancing the innovation process towards the market place. The team of Large Enterprises deals with extensive national and international companies interested in strategic collaborations with EPFL, including installing corporate R&D activities on the campus at EPFL Innovation Park. Tailored partnerships are one very efficient approach to innovation. It encompasses research collaboration, technology transfer, visits, and exchanges of crucial personnel. Universities and companies will need to be even more creative in the future to improve innovation. EPFL is convinced that future breakthroughs will be made by linking transdisciplinary domains and facilitating communication between people with different expertise and backgrounds. EPFL is willing to bridge the innovation gap by inviting companies on and around its campus to improve the innovation process further. The VPI Network and the Strategic Initiatives will play an essential role in this effort. We gladly welcome opportunities for our students to work on real case studies. Finding real solutions to real problems is indeed the best training they could have to face the challenges that lie ahead in their professional path. For the first analysis during a 4-month Semester project or a more in-depth study for their Master project, students are enthusiastic to try new ideas with our professors' assistance. It has been experienced many times that such work can lead to significant developments in further research stages. Furthermore, students may have the willingness and time to explore new avenues of research or promising trains of thought that your staff may not always have the time or the resources to explore. Students can also complete their education with a 6-month internship in the industry to gain first-hand knowledge and experience in a real working environment. Meanwhile, their presence in your company can be refreshing and positive synergies may emerge from their contact with the company's permanent staff. Hybrid collaborations of this kind are significant vectors towards innovative ways of thinking. If you are interested in proposing a subject of study or an internship in transportation to our students, please send an email to [email protected] to discuss the various ways our students could bring added value to the research projects that you wish to push forward. Initiated in 2009, the Transportation Center of the EPFL (TRACE) is an interdisciplinary center attached to the VPI. Its primary mission is to become the interface between EPFL and the outside world for all topics related to transport and mobility of people and goods. Bringing together close to 40 member laboratories and thus relying on a combined workforce of more than 560 top-notch researchers, the Transportation Center can provide a wide range of competencies and expertise to address the increasingly complex challenges associated with people's mobility and goods. The transport sector is profoundly transversal, and therefore gathers actors from a broad range of disciplines. In addition to developing multidisciplinary research of high caliber in order to bring added-value solutions to societal problems, TRACE aims to strengthen the visibility of transport research at EPFL and bring out the added-value of existing and new synergies from the joining of very diverse core competencies distributed across a wide range of laboratories throughout the different schools. The EPFL Transportation Center addresses all issues related to transport and mobility. Its prominent role is to foster technology transfer in this field by initiating partnerships with industrial and public authorities. About forty laboratories from five faculties at EPFL are affiliated and lead interdisciplinary research projects. Over 110 projects have already been initiated in areas such as robotics, information and communications technology, land use, energy efficiency, urban sociology, or areas such as security and comfort in cars and trains. Discover TRACE.

Working for the Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) means being part of a prestigious school that consistently ranks among the top 20 universities worldwide. As a public university dedicated to improving the world around us, we have three missions: training, research, and technology transfer. We boast one of the most dynamic university campuses in Europe and employ more than 6,000 people. Our employees perform high-value-added work in teaching and research and the School’s administrative and technical services. Between our main campus in Lausanne and our satellite campuses in Geneva, Neuchâtel, Fribourg, and Sion, our workforce comprises more than one hundred different professions. At EPFL, we foster a culture of respect and inclusion in the workplace. We promote a healthy work-life balance through flexible working hours and on-campus daycare and sports facilities. Our planet faces multiple challenges to the environment, some of the major ones being - climate change, depletion of resources such as drinking water, increasing pollution, human population growth, and the loss of biodiversity. The problems related to the environment are not only varied but are also becoming increasingly complex. While the solutions to these problems involve human, economic, and social dimensions, they cannot be resolved without reference to the latest technological and scientific progress. At ENAC, four scientific communities come together under one roof: environmental engineers, civil engineers, architects, and social scientists. Combining disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary breadth, our teaching and research activities in architecture, civil and environmental engineering share the common goal of improving the environment we use, create, and live in. From fundamental to applied science, engineering, and practice, research at ENAC aims to be immediately relevant to society at large, offering solutions to meet a wide range of challenges: mitigating and adapting to global warming accommodating a growing population dealing with increasing land-use pressures and meeting the increasing demand for energy and transportation continually improving and maintaining the built environment preserving ecosystems managing natural and human-made risks These multi-faceted fields require long-term, multidisciplinary research at an international level, carried out as a creative interaction between art, science, and engineering. Since its creation, ENAC has demonstrated how the proximity between architects, civil, and environmental engineers, and the fundamentally interdisciplinary approach that characterizes the School support the emergence of new research domains at the interface between these traditional disciplines, uniquely positioning it to be a leader in these fields.

View full university

Lausanne Collegiate School offers students a distinctive learning community through an established tradition of educational innovation.
