  1. Since the Independence, a large number of educational and research institutions have been established in Pakistan. While this represents a massive achievement, there remains a considerable shortfall in the quality of tertiary education. Existing institutions are constantly beset with problems, which have led to rapidly deteriorating standards. As a result, it has been difficult for these institutions to meet Pakistan’s need for the development of professional manpower. Needless to say, a country, which cannot develop its peoples’ intellectual and scientific potential, is bound to be left far behind in today’s increasingly competitive world. The college opted to offer degree courses of the University of London, International Programmes, FDA and ACCA from ACCA and CA from Pakistan and CFA from the USA. This is the only college entirely devoted to the provision of UK tertiary education in Islamabad. UCI has CertHE in Social Sciences teaching status for the University of London. Academic direction for these programs is provided by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). UCI also has CertHE in Common Law teaching status. Academic Direction for this program is provided by six the University of London Colleges with Law Schools or Departments, collectively known as the Laws Consortium. Mature students are welcomed. Access to our courses is deliberately flexible so that we admit not only the bright school and college-leavers but also those with non-traditional qualifications who can benefit from BSc and LLB of the University of London and ACCA/FDA, qualifications from ACCA, UK. It was summer 1992 when the plan for establishing the University College of Islamabad was finalized. The best brains and minds of the country were involved, with the ultimate objective to provide quality education of the British standards at an affordable cost in Pakistan. We decided to offer the University of London International Programmes. Our hard work of 25 years has resulted not only in establishing our credibility but also in setting high standards for the delivery of British-type of education in Pakistan. UCI launched ACCA courses in 2001. UCI has been present in all events that have been organized by the University of London International Programmes. New developments and changes to the Programmes were discussed with all institutions.
  2. The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology enjoys the unique distinction of being the first-ever university in Pakistan, which ultimately uses Urdu as the primary language of instruction and teaching. The university was established on 13th November 2002 under Ordinance No. The President of Pakistan promulgated CXIX of 2002. As per the provision of this Ordinance, the university has its principal seat in Islamabad. The university started functioning in November 2002 by taking over two federal government colleges, namely Federal Urdu Science College, Karachi, and Federal Urdu Arts College, Karachi. The principal seat of the university at Islamabad commenced its teaching programs in November 2003. First, the university established two faculties viz Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science, with an immediate focus on teaching the subjects of Business Administration and Computer Science. The university may establish any number of colleges, institutes, and campuses anywhere in or outside Pakistan as may be prescribed.
  3. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was established in March 1991 for the promotion of higher scientific education in the country, especially in the fields of science and technology, by providing a stable and disciplined academic environment together with need-based research, pertinent to industrial requirements. The University was granted its Charter in 1993. Over the years, the university has expanded in scope, services, and stature and has emerged as a leading comprehensive University in the public sector. Within two decades, NUST has achieved important milestones and gained immense significance as an institution of higher education in Pakistan. The University produces professionals and researchers of high caliber, capable of developing indigenous technologies to meet the growing demands of the 21st century. It is envisioned to grow as a center of excellence for the country’s scientific and technological progress. An outstanding feature of the University is that while maintaining traditional values of excellence in teaching and research, it challenges conventional practices and creates new ways of developing and delivering courses, about emerging and cutting-edge disciplines, on most modern lines. NUST is a new-age university defining new frontiers in teaching and research. The programs are distinctive for their high-quality research orientation. Notwithstanding the significance of undergraduate courses, there is an ever-growing emphasis on postgraduate studies and research output. Creativity and innovation are embedded as core values in all scholastic activities. The conducive academic environment at the campuses facilitates educational pursuits. NUST has developed linkages with international universities of repute to ensure a two-way flow of knowledge and to be in step with modern trends. Split programs and visits of eminent professors from reputed foreign universities are a regular feature of the academic activity. These eminent scholars deliver lectures on the latest developments in their respective fields and also help update and review the academic programs. It is indeed a privilege to lead Pakistan’s most vibrant institution, which shines as a beacon of excellence on the horizon of higher education. From a modest beginning with military engineering colleges, NUST has gained towering stature, both at the national level as well as internationally, addressing the needs of a fast-changing world. The University's main campus continues to expand, both academically and in terms of the physical environment, whereas, our commitment to scientific leadership continues to grow unabated. Over the years, NUST has developed a knowledge ecosystem that inspires entrepreneurship and stimulates high-impact research. It is now recognized internationally as a research-led, socially engaged university, distinguished by its multi-disciplinary programs and focus on emerging technologies. We have research collaboration with 109 universities worldwide, with 175 faculty members and 76 students studying in foreign universities. NUST is poised to play a leading role to propel the country into a knowledge-driven economy, thus improving the lives of masses and contributing towards the betterment of society, through need-based innovations, nurturing versatile and creative young minds who have the will and enthusiasm to make a difference and stride confidently into the future as society’s torchbearers. The University’s future roadmap will be aligned to spearhead national efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and Vision 2025 of the Government. The manifestation of this Vision is imbibed in our plans to establish Pakistan’s first Science and Technology Park, aimed at transiting the country towards a high-tech export-oriented economy. God willing, I foresee NUST attaining these sublime objectives by synergizing its strengths in pursuit of its defined vision. The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) aims to emerge as a leading research-intensive university of Pakistan, comparable to the top universities of the world within the next 10 years. It will be a comprehensive, residential university, responsive to technological change, dedicated to excellence, and committed to international education perspective. The University will fulfill its responsibility of graduating culturally enlightened, technologically knowledgeable, and academically competent, and research-oriented productive citizens who are prepared to lead, inspire, and serve humanity. The University commits itself and all its resources to this trust and responsibility. To develop NUST as a comprehensive, research-led university with a focus on Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Community Service.
  4. The foundation of the Islamic University, Islamabad, was laid on the first day of the fifteenth century Hijrah, i.e., Muharram 1, 1401 (November 11, 1980). Islamic Research Institute and few other units like Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue, Dawah Academy, Shariah Academy, and Institute of Professional Development are situated within the premises of majestic Faisal Mosque (spread over an area of 189,705 square meters), which is a symbol of International Islamic brotherhood and unity. In conformance with the Islamic precepts, the University provides academic services to men and women through separate campuses for each segment. To provide every opportunity for all-round and harmonious development of individuals and society and reconstruction of human thought in all its forms on the foundations of Islam in order to encourage and promote education, training the research in Islamic learning, social, natural, applied and communication sciences and other branches of learning to ensure the Muslim Ummah's ideological, moral, intellectual, social, economic and technological development following the values, ideals, principles, and norms of Islam. To optimize integration and Islamization of the contemporary knowledge and human thought from an international perspective through established institutions and academic endeavors to achieve excellence in all knowledge branches. It is our good fortune that with a faculty comprising scholars from many other Muslim countries of the world and from Pakistan itself, we perform the task of producing young Muslim men and women, graduates, post-graduates, and PhDs, armed with confidence in themselves and their Islamic heritage, to face the problems of a fast progressing world. The IIU web portal is meant to lay before the youth, the academicians, scholars, and the enlightened public of Pakistan, the aims and objects of the International Islamic University, and the range and scope of the disciplines it offers. As you will see, the International Islamic University is not a glorified deeni madrassah as some people think it to be, but an institution in the best traditions of learning among Muslims. These noble traditions have taught us that, to be adequately educated, they must be fully acquainted with the principles of their faith as well as prepared and trained to pursue a profession in the secular field of their choice, whether it is science and technology or computers or business administration or languages or any other. International Islamic University, Islamabad, is embarking on a new phase in the history of the University. We are busy making preparations for an expansion plan both in terms of education as well as in terms of physical development. A couple of years back, the University has shifted to its new campus in Sector H-10 of Islamabad. The vast and beautiful area allocated to the International Islamic University by the Government of Pakistan provides almost unlimited expansion and diversification opportunities for the next 25 years. The University was established in 1980 to commemorate the dawn of the 15th century of Hijrah. The new century was considered by many in the Muslim World to be the beginning of a new era of unity, development, progress, and reconstruction of the Muslims' institutions. The University seeks to promote this very objective on the intellectual plane. The hallmark of the University's educational philosophy is the integration of Islamic knowledge with contemporary intellectual achievements. The courses and Islamic programs designed by the University during the last 25 years reflect the thinking and aspirations of Muslim educationists, thinkers, and leaders of Islamic revivalism who guided the Muslim Ummah during the last century. In a way, the International Islamic University is a combination of the Aligarh Muslim University's academic and intellectual traditions, the Darul Uloom of Deoband, and the Nadwat-ul-Ulama other rich academic traditions of the Sub-continent. Thus, we aim to produce profound Islamic jurists, enlightened Islamic scholars, competent economists, professional business executives, articulate litterateurs, and perceptive thinkers, with an Islamic perspective on the one hand and professionalism and depth of knowledge other. We have endeavored in this University to set specific standards and succeeded.
  5. COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Pakistan's first exclusive Institute of information technology. The Government of Pakistan awarded the CIIT Charter in 2000, and in less than a decade, it has grown into a quality institution of higher learning. CIIT now has eight campuses in seven cities, a student population of more than 35,000, and a faculty base of 2,887. In addition to Information Technology, the Institute offers several bachelor's, master and doctoral programs in engineering, basic sciences, management sciences, and architecture. The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) is an international organization. 6. Welcome to Quaid-i-Azam University, the premier seat of learning in Pakistan. QAU has consistently been ranked the top university in the country by the Higher Education Commission. Besides, according to U.S. News and World Report, QAU is the only academic institution in Pakistan among the top 500 universities in the world. As a student here, you are a member of a privileged and distinguished group. Faculty along with students in our Masters, M. Phil, and Ph.D. programs produce world-class research, as is evident from the high-quality outlets in which their scholarship appears. Our faculty members have received numerous awards, both nationally and internationally for their research. Unlike many research universities, QAU views quality teaching as a pivotal part of its commitment to students. Faculty members are readily available and are often to be found in the late evenings working in their offices or laboratories. Nestled in the backdrop of the Margalla Hills, our seventeen hundred acre campus provides a serene environment for the serious scholar. The natural beauty of the campus in a near-rural setting belies the fact that we are only fifteen minutes away from the bustling, urban metropolis of Islamabad. Quaid-i-Azam University is an international seat of higher, advance, intellectual learning that illuminates the human minds and broadens the vision bringing back home all kinds of opportunities and development. Quaid-i-Azam University (once named Islamabad University) was established in July 1967 under the Act of National Assembly and started teaching and research programs for Ph.D. and MPhil degrees. It was, however, gradually and later decided to offer Master’s, graduate, and now undergraduate programs. The University, for its international repute, faculty and programs attract a large number of foreign students although it offers admission to a measured number of students from all regions of the country as it is a federal public sector university. It has been able to establish its links with some selected universities in Europe, South Asia, and the United States. The international educational and research institutions including UNESCO, IRSIP, Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion International (Spain), etc. collaborate their research activities with the Quaid-i-Azam University. Moreover, a reasonable size of faculty members of the University has been working in international universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Columbia, Heidelberg, etc. earning applause and awards such as International Peace Award from Brussels. Currently, the Quaid-i-Azam University has four faculties and nine other teaching and research institutes, centers, and Schools.
