About Me

  1. From the very start, back in 1874, Andrews University has placed severe scholarship, quality research, and a strong focus on practical Christianity first on the list of things we think are essential about attendance at a Christian university. We started small. Mr. Goodloe Bell, a teacher, started a small school with only 12 students in Battle Creek, Michigan. This was the birth of what we now know as Andrews University. Today, Andrews is the best-known Adventist educational institution in the world. At Andrews, we are serious about giving you choices. We offer options in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies. If you feel like spending a year abroad, you can choose from an impressive range of opportunities at Andrews affiliate schools or service posts around the globe. We are real people at Andrews. Whatever it is you choose to do here, we aim to make sure that you achieve a balance between theory and practice, and experience growth on your spiritual journey. We are named after John Nevins Andrews (1829–1883), the most prominent thinker in the 19th-century Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was also the first sponsored missionary that the Church sent overseas. J.N. Andrews' example of careful thought and compassionate action in Christian life is something we have taken to heart. Our motto is "Seek knowledge. Affirm Faith. Change the World." Students from across the United States and around the globe are attracted to Andrews because of what we stand for and what we offer. "U.S. News and World Report," says that Andrews is one of the most culturally diverse universities in the nation. Andrews University, a distinctive Seventh-day Adventist institution, transforms its students by educating them to seek knowledge and affirm faith to change the world. Andrews University is a Seventh-day Adventist institution. As a Christian school, we encourage strong moral principles and a close relationship with God. We celebrate the diversity of faiths represented at Andrews and respect the differences of persuasion that are present. We believe in a holistic approach to life that balances body, mind, and spirit so that students are fully prepared to serve the world when they finish their studies. Andrews University is a Christian institution representing diversity across global, racial, economic, gender, religious, and generational lines. As a Seventh-day Adventist institution, we are rooted in biblical teaching, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for all are one in Jesus Christ" (Galatians 3:28). This is demonstrated in the life of Jesus Christ himself as He crossed barriers, challenged prejudice, and embraced the marginalized groups of his day. Compelled by his gracious example, we outlined in our mission to carry the gospel to people of all cultures around the world. Accordingly, we celebrate the richness of diversity at Andrews University and endeavor to develop cultural competence and intelligence through curricular and co-curricular experiences. Student Activities coordinates social and recreational activities and works with almost one hundred campus clubs and organizations. Student Activities coordinates social and recreational activities and works with almost one hundred campus clubs and organizations. The Howard Center is open to the campus and community. It hosts several prominent classical and Christian artists each year. The Office of Research and Creative Scholarship (ORCS) seeks to promote excellence in research and creativity and foster an attitude of scholarly inquiry within the community of faculty and students of Andrews University. The office supports the full spectrum of scholarly activity, including the Scholarship of Discovery, the Scholarship of Integration, the Scholarship of Engagement, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. This is done through conferences and symposia, grant awards, and much more. Andrews University offers many unique opportunities for Undergraduate Research, including participating in the J.N.Honors Program and presenting at the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters. Graduate students account for approximately one-third of the entire student body at Andrews University. They are involved in various research projects, both independently and in cooperation with Andrews's faculty members. Our staff comes from a myriad of backgrounds, including emergency services, military, and education, and through these experiences, we seek to serve our campus from a multi-disciplinary perspective. We are committed to providing professional safety-related services to foster a safe learning and working environment. To ensure that the campus is made aware of emergencies, severe weather, and timely warnings, Andrews University has established a mass notification system called AU Alert. Individuals on our campus can register to receive messages at AU Alert. The Andrews University Office of Campus Safety is committed to the safety and general welfare of each campus community member. The following resources are provided as educational tools for prevention, preparedness, and response techniques for many emergencies. These situations include, but are not limited to, fire safety, hostile threat, inclement weather, theft deterrence, and vehicle safety. At times, emergencies may occur on campus. While we cannot prepare for every eventuality, there are measures to be taken during any emergency, and some steps to be taken for specific emergencies.
  2. St Andrews is a unique and captivating place, and the University is a crucial part of its charm. Seven centuries of history link the students with the town, leading to today's ancient and yet modern institution. For those interested in visiting or moving to St Andrew's, we recommend looking at the town information, which describes the facilities and opportunities open to the local community. The University of St Andrews embraces sustainable development across all of its operations, fully integrating it into everything we do. We have a mission to be recognized locally and internationally as a world-class institution that leads by example, actively implementing imaginative solutions and initiatives that achieve a more sustainable society. Our three-part strategy to become carbon neutral for energy production: Behavior change: encouraging reduction in energy consumption such as the inter-hall energy competition in residence halls, which last year achieved savings of 48 tonnes of CO2. Energy efficiency and investment: ensuring the highest energy efficiency in the built environment. Micro and macro renewable energy: investing in solar thermal heating on our residential and science buildings, solar photovoltaics (PV) electrical generation, and ground source heat pumps on site. Our macro renewables plan will lead to a carbon reduction of 27,000 tonnes per annum through the Guardbridge Energy Centre and Kenly wind farm development. Life here is centered around an internationally renowned teaching system, but only St Andrews can provide a massive range of additional opportunities, which creates a unique experience. Because St Andrews is a small university, students can interact with staff, integrate, and feel a sense of belonging. They are active in politics, charity fundraising, volunteering locally, and playing a governance role in how their services are run. We have a centuries-old tradition of bringing the brightest minds around the world to share their ideas. Here, as nowhere else, curious students can meet the best scholars and teachers worldwide and crucially find the thinking space to question what they are taught. St Andrews is the most international Scottish University with staff and students from over 120 nationalities. Students from all over the world, and from a wide range of backgrounds, come to study with us, and many find St Andrews becomes a second home to them. We celebrate our student diversity and support many international students' pathways to join us, whether they are applying through an exchange or study abroad program or studying through our many different degree routes. St Andrews encourages students from different backgrounds to apply and offers scholarships for international students. Studying at St Andrew's offers a truly unique experience: you will live and study in the intimacy of a small town but be surrounded by peers and teachers from all over the world who will cultivate your cultural awareness. Long before the arrival of those first students, Presbyterians across North Carolina, laity and clergy, had committed themselves to this new adventure in higher education. The history of St. Andrews began in 1896 with the founding of Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, NC. In 1958, Flora Macdonald College merged with Presbyterian Junior College in Maxton, NC, to establish St. Andrews. 5. What is significant about any school is what is at its heart. The College's Mission Statement: 'Celebrating the Gospel, Nurturing the Individual, Empowering Lifelong Learners' stands as a firm statement about what St Andrews is on about and has been at the heart of our College since its inception. St Andrews strives to provide high-quality education in a Christian context. We value a holistic approach and encourage students to develop values that enrich the intellect, nurture the spirit, develop social responsibility, and create healthy lifestyles. Located on the Gold Coast's southern end, St Andrews has beautiful views of the Tallebudgera Valley. Our modern campus is growing all the time, opening a brand new state of the art Library Resource Centre for the Middle and Senior School in 2009, a highly functional Multi-purpose Hall in the Junior School in 2010, and a superb Covered Outdoor Learning Area in 2012. In the middle of 2014, the College opened 'The Learning Hub,' a learning space in the secondary school that clarifies that learning is our core business. In its design, the Learning Hub incorporates the best of formal and informal learning, independent and collaborative learning, ubiquitous anywhere, anytime learning, and visible learning. As well as learning spaces, 'The Learning Hub' also incorporates a new Tuckshop with indoor and outdoor eating areas for students to come together to eat and build their sense of belonging and connectedness. Our Early Learning Centre offering Pre Prep and Junior Kindy opened at the start of 2015. With its well-equipped modern learning and play spaces for experiential and play-based learning, the ELC provides exciting and flexible opportunities to play, develop, and learn second to none. It truly is a child-centered facility. In 2016 we undertook a total refurbishment of the Junior School, including doubling the library's size and creating a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) room specifically for Junior School. In 2017 we opened a new Secondary School facility for music, dance, highly innovative Business Studies labs, and a 300+ seat Theatre. St Andrews is a school that seeks to provide an environment where each person is valued and accepted as a child of God. Each is challenged to discover, develop, and use their gifts and abilities for personal growth and service to others. We hope that the enriching and fulfilling opportunities experienced in our community stay with students for life. Our three sub-schools: Junior School (Prep-Year 6), Middle School (Years 7-9), and Senior School (Years 10-12), mean that teaching and learning are tailored to the developmental stage of students. The Junior School, using the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Program (PYP) as its framework, places a strong emphasis on developing both the fundamentals of numeracy and literacy and critical inquiry skills. Middle schooling methodology, covering a broad curriculum, is practiced in Years 7, 8, and 9 to guide students through those early adolescent years. Encouraging students to take responsibility for learning enables them to move towards being independent learners in preparation for senior schooling. Senior School students select a pathway that reflects their academic and vocational needs. Information communication technologies are integrated across the curriculum for all year levels. Both the Middle and Senior schools use the renowned teaching and learning framework known as Dimensions of Learning to facilitate a constant focus on student learning. The St Andrews staff are motivated by a genuine sense of helping each child realize their potential. As a learning community, our staff is engaged in ongoing professional development and refinement of our programs to ensure that we improve the quality of learning experiences available to our children and young people. St Andrews is widely regarded as a caring school. We place a high priority on pastoral care. In recent times we have begun to implement Positive Psychology, an approach that seeks to build well-being and resilience proactively. Our staff works hard at developing nurturing relationships with students because encouraging and affirming relationships lie at the heart of effective learning. At St Andrew's, we celebrate and share the "Good News" of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We see each student as a unique creation of God, as a person he loves and with whom he desires a relationship. Through regular worship and our P-12 Christian Studies program, we aim to provide students with a thorough understanding of Biblical Christianity and trust that the Holy Spirit will work faith in their lives. Christian teaching at the College is based on the doctrines of the Lutheran Church of Australia. However, students from a variety of church and non-church backgrounds are welcomed into the community. St Andrews is known as a community where people matter. No-one is lost in the crowd at St Andrew's. Most of our enrolments come about through word of mouth: we are recommended by parents and students who, quite simply, love the College. Each staff member makes a special effort to know and care for the individual students in their charge. The staff does not follow a "one size fits all" approach but strive to develop individual pathways for students according to their particular interests and talents, especially in secondary school. Because we believe that all useful knowledge and learning is a beautiful gift of God for our growth as human beings, we value academic excellence. We also recognize that each child has different but unique gifts that need to be identified and developed to the fullest. Thus we provide a wide range of curricular and co-curricular activities at all levels and empower students to strive towards their own personal best in their chosen fields. In our classes, learning how to learn is emphasized so that young people have the skills to become lifelong and life-wide learners. View full school

Students thrive in a safe and caring environment, and at St Andrews Christian College, where all our students are known, we partner with parents to support and nurture our children to become the young men and women God intends them to be. We desire that our students become leaders in our society, citizens who influence others rather than following and being influenced by the changing values and expectations of the world around them. We help students discover their purpose in this world and offer an education rich in hope and purpose that delivers more than just good results. Our Purpose To honor and glorify God in all we do at St Andrew's Christian College To learn the truth of the gospel and how to apply this into everyday life To provide a safe, nurturing learning environment that encourages students to know, love, and serve God and to know their purpose in the world To learn to love and serve others in an environment of grace, acceptance, truth, justice, and mercy To support parents as the prime educators of their child To aspire to educational excellence that enables each child to fulfill their potential academically, spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and culturally To be a leading provider of Christian education and academic excellence St Andrews Christian College commenced in 1983 at Surrey Hills in response to a growing demand for a distinctively Christian school in the area that reflected and supported Christian family values and provided an education that helped students realize their potential in all areas of the curriculum. After a period of steady growth, the College moved to the premises in Burwood in 1998. In 2000 the College was also able to offer secondary classes. In 2010, following much hard work, perseverance, and prayer, the College moved to its present site in Wantirna South. This enabled the College to continue fulfilling the vision of establishing a robust Christ-centred Prep to Year 12 college in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs. View full school

Advisors seek to promote better cultural exchange in the St. Andrews family and the wider local area. A member of the faculty serves as an academic adviser for each student. The adviser helps the student plan a curriculum best suited for his/her needs. Members of the student development staff are available for counseling in student life, career interests, and personal concerns. The health center provides minimal health services and arranges off-campus medical care when needed. In September 1961, the first students stepped onto the grounds of a spacious, lake-centered campus that had been named St. Andrews Presbyterian College only a short time earlier. Andrews. In 1996, St. Andrews celebrated the Centennial Anniversary of its heritage by hosting various events and celebrations. In honor of the occasion, 800 plus alumni, faculty, students, staff, and friends gathered for this birthday party to recognize the three institutions' shared history. The history of St. Andrews offers a consistent record of academic innovation, recognitions, and accomplishments far out of proportion to the college's small size and limited human and financial resources. It has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to recognize needs that were not being met by the prevalent higher education cannon of pedagogical strategies, texts, programs, or assumptions. It has also combined its visionary thinking with successful academic planning to translate insights into concrete, efficacious higher education innovation. Andrews University, a branch of Webber International University. As part of the transition from college to university, St. Andrews offered its first graduate-level program, the Master of Business Administration program, starting in 2012. For over 50 years, St. Andrews has provided students with a close-knit educational environment that is slightly different from other small liberal arts and science schools. At St. Andrews, what you learn both inside and outside the classroom creates a sense of intellectual and social engagement that will empower you to make a difference in your community, profession, and the world.

  19. St Andrews is a unique and captivating place, and the University is a vital part of its charm. Life here is centered around an internationally renowned teaching system, but only St Andrews can provide a vast range of additional opportunities, creating a unique experience. Because St Andrews is a small university, students have the opportunity to interact with staff, integrate, and to feel a sense of belonging. St Andrews encourages students from different backgrounds to apply and offers several scholarships for international students. Studying at St Andrew's offers a truly unique experience: you will live and study in the intimacy of a small town but be surrounded by peers and teachers from all over the world who will cultivate your cultural awareness. 21. Listed below are key points that reflect our community's core values and significant components in fulfilling a St. Andrew's education. We believe in and practice the concept of "students first" and strive to ensure that all of our decisions — academic, fiscal, and philosophical — emanate from this conviction. We are committed to a curriculum that prepares young men and women for life and ensures that all who seek access to higher education will be sufficiently prepared. We value a community as diverse as the world in which we live and therefore accept students based solely on their capacity to learn, grow, and flourish because of our educational approach. We pledge to offer sufficient financial aid to fulfill our mission. We uphold the conviction that our students learn best in a small, intimate environment that allows for personal attention and ongoing interaction with faculty. We seek to create a campus-wide environment that fosters growth in all its dimensions — intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual — and promotes learning in the classroom and beyond. We embrace the arts, athletics, and community service as essential elements of a St. Andrew's education. We strive to enhance our students' spiritual, moral, and ethical development by offering courses, programs, and activities that nourish not just the head but the heart and soul. We recognize the importance of recruiting and retaining the very best faculty and staff, and we work diligently toward that end. Our students come to St. Andrew is from both public and independent schools, searching for new academic adventures, more personal instruction, and more excellent camaraderie with classmates. St. Andrew's commitment to tailored teaching is matched only by our care in crafting an essential curriculum. As a result, our graduates leave us with both a bedrock education that serves as an adequate foundation for college and a set of personal strategies that equip them for a lifetime of continued learning, adaptation and intellectual evolution. Just as important, our students take from St. Andrew is a guiding sense of self — and awareness of their strengths and passions that they use to chart a confident path forward. All St. Andrew's students benefit profoundly from the day and night access to faculty members, from peers who offer diverse perspectives and uncommon kindness, and from extraordinary extracurricular opportunities to go, see, serve, and experience together. Our boarding atmosphere bonds our students into a tightly knit learning community, which, in turn, empowers everyone to rise to greater expectations and meet higher academic standards.

  24. Welcome to St Andrews Christian College our Mission is to educate our students so that they are well-skilled, understand life-based on biblical truth, and are motivated to walk with God and serve Him in their lives to be a positive Christian influence in the world. St Andrews Christian College is a school of teaching and learning excellence, where Christ is central in all we do. Although known for our academic rigor, we are a school community that nurtures the whole child and seeks to provide an environment where students are inspired and encouraged to grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, creatively, physically, and cognitively.
