St Aidan’s Voluntary Controlled Primary is a small, Church of England school in North London, serving the local community. It has a strong network of staff, parents, and children who work together to make the school a happy and vibrant place. We are extremely proud to have been awarded Outstanding status in our most recent Ofsted inspection. Our vision is to provide high-quality education in an inclusive and caring community, where children can realize their full potential and secure their future as life-long learners. Recognizing its historic foundation, St Aidan’s aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. Celebrating individual achievements and giving feedback so that children know how they are progressing and how they can improve. Open communication between parents, children, and teachers. Offering early support for children with additional educational needs. If a child becomes unwell or has an accident in school, he or she will be seen by one of our first-aiders. The parents or carers will be contacted immediately if the child has been involved in a serious accident or is too ill to remain in school. It is therefore vital that parents and carers complete and returns the Welfare Form which contains, along with relevant details of the child’s medical needs, parent and carer contact information. This form is issued when the child starts school and it must be kept up to date. We follow the LA’s guidance on giving medicines in school. Medicines needing to be administered during school hours must be given directly to the Accident Reporting Officer along with precise delivery instructions a form giving consent for the medicine to be administered will also need to be signed. This is reflected in our Collective Worship, our teaching and learning, and how we treat one another. At St. Aidan’s we seek to work together with parents, parishes, and the local community to create an environment where we can all grow together, feel valued and develop self-esteem and a sense of responsibility. We aim to be worshipping, celebrating, reconciling school, living, and growing with Christ. Children at St. Aidan's have the benefit of a broad and balanced curriculum. As well as giving all the necessary attention to the core subjects, we are particularly keen to develop children's interest in Music, Art, P.E., Drama, and Dance. We aim to ensure children receive a rich curriculum by organizing extra-curricular events such as school trips to the theatre and a range of educational and interesting places, and by inviting visiting performers to the school. St Aidan's is a Prep to Year 12 Anglican day school for girls, with a co-educational Kindergarten. It is located in Corinda, with approximately 800 students, reflecting our belief that students experience many smaller school benefits. St Aidan's was established in 1929 by the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent, an order of Anglican sisters committed to serving God through nurturing and serving young women. On day one, Sister Elisabeth was Sister-in-Charge at St Margaret's, and Mrs. Christine Hartland was Headmistress at St Aidan's. They both upheld the view that education for girls needed to equip them for life. To this day, the school's mission remains the same: to encourage confidence and success in students by pursuing their academic, sporting, cultural and community pursuits within a caring environment. St Aidan nurtures each student's aspirations within a vibrant learner-centered community. St Aidan's strives to provide excellence in education in a caring, friendly environment, where each individual, nurtured and shaped by the values of the Christin Faith, has the opportunity to achieve her full potential and to develop a passion for life and learning.
