    Leidos Defense Sector is seeking an Earth Station Technician (EST) for assignment to Pituffik Space Base formerly Thule Air Base, Greenland.  The role of the EST includes, but is not limited to, communicating on a technical level with the Prime and US Government customers, monitoring the performance of transmissions to maintain trouble free access, initiating corrective action to restore interrupted service in the event of a failure in the satellite communications system, and general maintenance of the earth station facility. The EST carries a high level of responsibility to our customers’ satisfaction and business interests. Primary Responsibilities Provides 24/7 coverage through shiftwork and responds quickly to customers’ needs at all hours and on short notice. Completes shipping/receiving of equipment and supplies for site and manages site inventories. Notifies Operations Manager of any issues/concerns where assistance may be necessary. Ensures required reports/site information are provided in a timely manner. Monitors performance of customers’ signals to confirm they are operating within parameters and anticipates issues which could affect services. Initiates proper corrective action procedures in the event of a satellite communications or other transmission failure. Conducts IP network connection diagnostics using the ping and traceroute commands, and isolate location of the problem. Interfaces directly with customers in troubleshooting and resolving circuit problems at both the earth station and customer location. Installs and tests new earth station equipment. Schedules vendor access to earth stations for repair and maintenance. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on satellite communications equipment including high voltages, SSPAs, LNAs, waveguide, cabling and antennas alone and in a safe manner. Provides the Network Monitoring Center with an up to date and correct status of trouble repair, resolution, and times of trouble resolution. Basic Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience. US Citizen; Currently possess an active DoD Secret security clearance. The IFPC Inc 2 is a ground-based, mobile system that aims to combat cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft systems. As part of the Indirect Fire Protection Capability program (IFPC), the system protects and defends civilian and military infrastructure and bridges the gap between tactical short range air defense systems and our strategic systems. This Model-Based Systems Engineer will join a team of seven other systems engineers, led by a senior systems engineer. In this role the Model-Based Systems Engineer will work with the broader engineering team to develop systems engineering artifacts in a Model-Based Systems Engineering environment using SysML and Cameo, including Requirements Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Reports, and CONOPS. The selected candidate will interface with program management and design engineers to support a program’s systems engineering needs throughout its design life cycle, including modeling system behavior, defining the system architecture, dictating system interfaces, performing requirements verification, and helping develop test schemes. The selected candidate may present the systems engineering artifacts they have developed to the customer in formal design reviews and may serve as a customer liaison for MBSE content. The Model-Based Systems Engineer will need to work independently on these efforts, defining their own tasking derived from customer needs and contractual documents, but MBSE technical oversight will be provided when needed. Each effort will require different specific model artifacts, but broadly the Model-Based Systems Engineer will use Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML to develop requirements specifications, system architecture content (bdd / ibd), and system behavioral content (act / stm). This position does not necessarily require an MBSE Subject Matter Expert, but the role does minimally require experience working independently on MBSE models, some model customization, and the ability to communicate with non-Systems Engineering stakeholders who are less familiar with MBSE approaches. The Model-Based Systems Engineer will work in a matrixed organization, which supports multiple programs at once in a variety of engineering fields with all different team environments. When the efforts end, the Model-Based Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to support a different program in the matrixed engineering portfolio. A candidate with experience in other systems engineering areas such as Lead Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis will be treated preferentially. Basic Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 12+ years of experience or an MS with 10+ years. Experience using MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler and/or other Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) modeling tools Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment. Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area. Possess a secret clearance or ability to obtain. Preferred Qualifications Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master of Science in System Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, and/or have at least 2-4 years of direct systems engineering experience.
