Qatar's premier technical College, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q), has an outstanding obligation to the State's students and industry. In addition to diploma programs in Business Studies, Engineering Technology, Health Sciences, and Information Technology, CNA-Q offers a full range of student activities and clubs.
The one-year Banking Certificate in Banking is designed to give students a background in today's banking environment's technical and service skills. To be competitive, banks require employees with good problem-solving abilities, who can work in a team and adapt to changing environments.
The Banking Certificate program is designed to give students real-world skills by providing hands-on laboratory activities to apply real-world banking principles. Graduates from the one-year Banking Certificate will be prepared to enter an entry-level position in Qatar's growing banking sector. Students looking to progress in the Banking sector are encouraged to complete an extra year to achieve a Banking Diploma.
The School of Engineering Technology and Industrial Trades programs allow students to gain experience in world-class laboratory labs equipped using the latest industrial equipment. All programs are designed to help students launch into careers in Qatar's growing Energy and Industry sector. To achieve technician-level credentials, our programs are usually two-years in length. To achieve technology-level credentials, our programs are usually three-years in length.
Programs offered at the College prepare individuals for maintenance and operator positions at the technician and technologist level. The program structure allows students to progress from the technician diploma to the technologist designations in specific disciplines. Disciplines include Chemical Processing, Electrical, Mechanical, Process Automation, and Telecommunications. The requirements for operations training are addressed by the Chemical Processing Technician and Technology programs.
Engineering Technology programs are designed to meet internationally recognized standards. The following programs have been accredited: Electrical Engineering Technology and Process Automation Engineering Technology by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB).
For those wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree, university transfer agreements are in place that make it possible for college three-year diploma graduates to attend Canadian universities. A variety of options are available. Typically, one additional year of study is required to obtain a Bachelor of Technology degree (www.mi.mun.ca).
Articulation agreements have also been signed with institutions in other countries that also provide avenues for graduates from the three-year Engineering Technology programs to complete a Bachelors and Masters degree.
A current list of post-secondary institutions offering admission and transfer credit to CNA-Q graduates who meet the entrance requirements is available from the Registrar's Office or the Career Counseling and Resource Centre. Staff in both these offices will provide support and assistance to CNA-Q graduates seeking to further their post-secondary studies.
The School of Health Sciences of the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar is recognized as the premier institution for developing world-class allied health care professionals in the State of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Guided by the National Health Strategy and the Qatar National Vision, the School of Health Sciences enhances Qatar's national health care workforce by delivering current, internationally accredited educational programs.
The School of Health Sciences offers education in various health professions designed to meet Canada's rigorous health standards while recognizing and respecting local cultural attributes. The programs include comprehensive didactic sessions, hands-on skills training, and clinical field rotations.
Technician Certificate Program was designed in partnership with Qatar Petroleum to prepare students to work as technicians in Qatar's energy and industry sector. This specialized program trains students in world-class shops laboratories using the latest industrial equipment.
Academic Preparatory Studies helps students meet the requirements to enter or complete their chosen program by offering foundation English, Mathematics, and Science courses. The School is committed to delivering high-quality, innovative, student-centered English language education. The School enables learners to develop the necessary language competencies, study skills, and attitudes to succeed in their technical and academic pursuits.
The School will be recognized as a leader in English language training in the Gulf region. It will exceed international standards for excellence while responding to the needs of individual learners. It will reflect quality program development and feature innovative teaching, learning, and assessment approaches while contributing to and developing the best practices in language learning. It will ensure that our learners are prepared to succeed in English language environments and to contribute to the growth of business and industry in the State of Qatar.
