The key strategic positions and the mission of the FH BFI Vienna are laid down in the mission statement. Based on this, degree programs can specialize in their professional fields. Medium-term aims are established in the FH's strategic concepts according to the mission statement.
We offer academically well-founded professional education to working people and people without school-leaving exams who can then develop into internationally competent specialists and managers. It is a significant concern for the FH BFI Vienna to encourage both male and female students and students from various cultural backgrounds according to their needs. Through our courses and further education programs for our graduates (but not only for those!), but we also facilitate encounters in the "scientific community. "
Psychological counseling is available for problems related to studying (e.g., test anxiety, learning disorders, motivational problems, etc.), but of course, also for personal or work-related matters. Everything discussed at counseling meetings is subject to confidentiality.
The non-profit Fachhochschule des BFI Wien Gesellschaft m.b.H. (roughly the equivalent of a private limited company) acts as the course-providing body. In April 2002, our institution was accredited as a Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences).
The BFI Vienna (Berufsförderungsinstitut Wien / Vocational Training Institute Vienna) is the sole shareholder of the FH BFI Vienna. For more than forty years, the BFI Vienna has been actively promoting education and further education programs, which help turn employees into highly qualified, skilled employees who can rest sure of their business positions.
The FH Supervisory Council is in charge of the execution and the organization of teaching and exams. It consists of its head – Andreas Breinbauer, the program directors, representatives of teaching and research faculty, and student representatives. The collegium convenes at least twice a year.
The core tasks of quality management are quality assurance and quality development, for which our staff employs suitable processes and tools. Our students make a significant contribution through regular evaluation of teaching, membership to the UAS Supervisory Council, or participation in the development of degree programs. Alumni/ae and companies are involved in manifold ways such as direct integration of professional experience into teaching, cooperation within our networks, provision of internship opportunities, and many more.
High quality at a university of applied sciences can chiefly be seen in above-average results in teaching and research and how relevant stakeholders perceive them. High quality is the result of strategy-geared and process-oriented action taken by motivated and competent staff. The adequate equipment with resources is a prerequisite for quality at a university of applied sciences.
We perceive the standards for our quality management within the context of the European Higher Education Area. Thus, they are based on the 'European standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG),' which provide standards and guidelines for internal and external quality assurance within European Higher Education.
Our strategy for continuous improvement postulates how we put our understanding and standards of quality into practice. Standards and strategy are summarized in the document 'QM-Policy Strategy.'
Gender Mainstreaming is a strategy to press ahead of the social equality of women and men. Both genders should have the same chances for their professional, cultural, material, and psychosocial development.
As an educational institution, the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna takes over a significant responsibility for implementing social changes and has made the support of equalization the highest priority. Gender Mainstreaming is embedded as a cross-section subject matter in all departments of the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna. Gender know-how, Gender competence, and gender sensitivity are continually being enhanced.
The process management system PROMAS describes all relevant processes at the UAS and its interfaces to other processes in flow diagrams. For each activity, you can see who carries it out, who is responsible, who contributes to it, and who is informed about it. Additionally, it is possible to directly select and access relevant process-related documents (directives, drafts, etc.).
