      2. GIH is a public institution reporting directly to the Government. GIH confers degrees in all three cycles in the area of Health and Sports. Under the Vice-Chancellor, GIH is organized with one academic department that consists of three units. Coordination of programs across the three units is provided by Faculty Programme Directors (FPD). All administrative staff is organized in the Administration. A Programme Committee is responsible for the first and second cycle programs and courses, and a Research and Post Graduate Studies Committee has similar responsibilities in these fields. All units also are responsible for international cooperation and mobility issues within their competencies. The Student Union has taken on mentoring responsibilities. Internationalization activities are coordinated through the International Office. It combines academic and administrative competencies. Partner institutions are chosen according to the priorities outlined in the internationalization strategy. The Vice-Chancellor of GIH is responsible for signing the inter-institutional agreement. Faculty Programme Directors (FDPs) are responsible for the planning of the curricula and courses. A relevant FDP will, within his/her area of competence, process learning agreements for outgoing and incoming students. FDPs will have to ensure that courses given to incoming students are relevant for the agreed learning outcomes. The Learning Agreements will also include what courses are to be credited upon completing the studies abroad for outgoing students. In this, the FDP will have to obtain binding obligations from the teachers grading the respective courses. GIH is the only independent specialist college in Sweden. Its missions are to conduct training and research in sport, physical activity, and health. Research at GIH explores sports sciences issues with different starting points, human biology, humanities, and social sciences. The research at GIH often requires a multidisciplinary approach, in which various lines of research are mutually supportive. GIH benefits from the presence of multiple scientific disciplines since research is conducted both in human biology and humanities and social sciences. The research at GIH is organized in three different areas: Culture and learning Performance and training Physical activity and health GIH aims to be a natural partner for collaboration to both Europe and foreign higher education institutions that carry out high-quality research and education within the area of physical activity, sports, and health. The reference frames will be widened through international contacts and collaboration for students, teachers, and researchers. The international perspectives will also contribute to the understanding of other cultures. To allow for broadened capability among researchers to communicate in languages other than Swedish, GIH also enables teachers and students from foreign countries.
      3. SLU is a young university with a long history. It was founded in 1977 out of the agricultural, forestry, veterinary university colleges, the Veterinary School at Skara, and the Forestry School at Skinnskatteberg. SLU develops knowledge about using natural, biological land, and water resources sustainably. Education, research, and environmental monitoring and assessment are pursued at some thirty locations all over the country. The central campuses are Alnarp, Umeå, and Uppsala. SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use and management of biological natural resources. This is achieved by research, education, and environmental monitoring and assessment in collaboration with the surrounding community. SLU is a world-class university in the fields of life and environmental sciences. We dare to question established knowledge through critical thinking and an open, inquiring perspective. Our university produces world-class research. We ask the big questions about nature, animals, and life itself. Our knowledge forms the foundation of a sustainable, thriving, and better world. SLU values express the organization's common fundamental values. These guide everyday life by describing the starting point for your activity, for contacts with the outside world, and how we behave towards each other and others. All SLU employees are included in these values. The fundamental values are: Scientific approach Creativity Openness Responsibility. In addition to these four fundamental values, there are six fundamental principles: Democracy Legality Objectivity, factuality, and equal treatment Free formation of opinions Respect Efficiency and service. SLU is an attractive and stimulating workplace for our current and future employees. SLU is an attractive university for students and offers courses and programs of high quality with societal relevance. SLU's researchers have adequate access to research infrastructure, which allows ground-breaking, excellent research. SLU's collaboration will benefit society and be appreciated by stakeholders while the quality of our education, research, and EMA will be raised. Employees and students will know of and feel a commitment to SLU's activities and take joint responsibility for developing activities. Our activities affect the environment directly through our use of resources, travel, emissions, etc. However, we can also influence the environment indirectly through our unique expertise in the area. SLU contributes to ecologically, socially, and financially sustainable development. Environmental thinking and environmental aspects are integrated into all decision-making and are part of all activities within SLU's organizational units. SLU contributes to Agenda 2030 with innovative research, research-focused teaching, environmental monitoring and assessment (EMA), and more. Around 50 Swedish public authorities have come together to help bring about the transition needed in society. SLU's mission statement is closely linked to these global goals, and SLU was the first university to sign the joint declaration of intent. SLU's public sector role, which initially only concerned the land-based sector, is broader and more developed these days. The goal to clarify the consequences of various trade-offs between production and sustainable goals dovetails with Agenda 2030, which emphasizes the importance of integrated approaches and solutions to meet the 17 goals. Our public sector role also has a global aspect. Our areas of responsibility are connected to societal challenges such as food, water and energy supply, urbanization, climate change, the transition to a bio-based economy, etc. Collaboration with low-income countries is present within all research areas, and 20 percent of SLU's peer-reviewed scientific publications have co-authors from universities in low-income countries or from international research institutes that work with global development. SLU is the only Swedish university with a global development strategy. SLU Global develops these operations, among other things, by thematically prioritizing broad collaboration within SLU and with external parties. SLU's courses and programs at undergraduate and Master's levels comprise professional programs that cannot be found at any other Swedish higher education institution. Students can become agronomists, horticulturists, forest officers, veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and landscape architects. These courses and programs are essential for the national skill supply. SLU also co-runs two civil engineering programs and offers several Master's programs relating to its strong research domains. The number of international Master's students is high, and this contributes to global continuing professional development.
