      1. The National Protestant College, a firm believer in equality among all people regardless of color, religion, social status, or allegiance, is an institution with an educational, humanitarian, and patriotic mission that aims at nurturing open-minded, conscientious, and compassionate citizens who will respect and understand individual differences. The National Protestant College School Committee oversees the policy and direction of NPC. The committee members are chosen from the National Evangelical Church congregation and adherents. They are prominent members of society who have a passion for education and a recognized record of service to the community. The National Protestant College was founded in 1949 in the Ras Beirut area in the heart of Beirut. The school began as an elementary school for girls that was also known as Mrs. Jraidini’s School after the name of its first principal, Mrs. Rida Jraidini. The NPC implements the Lebanese curriculum as modified to conform to its educational philosophy with an emphasis on character education and foreign languages. English is the language of instruction for all subjects except for Arabic and Social Studies (History, Geography, and Civics). Students also learn French as the second foreign language throughout the school grades beginning in Preschool. NPC language department has embarked on a new teaching process that has adopted drastic changes on various levels, and which has been manifested through the reduction and change in nature of homework assignments, integration of subject courses, focus on students' linguistic performance, and the radical changes in studying habits. To avoid any ambiguity and to reinforce the critical role of parent's involvement in the learning process, the language department has deemed it necessary to present NPC's language teaching vision and stages. Teaching languages completely differs from teaching any other subject, since languages are at the core of these subjects. Consequently, a better command of the language enhances the students' performance in Math, Sciences, Sociology, Economics, and Philosophy, and drives students to continuously incorporate language skills throughout their academic year. It is also crucial to understand that the new approach is a slow and painstaking process whose benefits will be reaped very gradually, but also very steadily. The main underlying objective behind teaching languages is the building of communication skills, which include oral expression, writing, and reading comprehension. Hence, dictation, grammar, and vocabulary serve only as tools that enable students to master the language. The other minor objective, the official exams, is considered less demanding of the enormous efforts invested by both teachers and students and is the unprompted outcome of the first objective. 3. We have been a state-accredited university since 1971. The German Council of Science and Humanities has rated our educational quality as excellent. All programs of study are accredited. We are a small university with around 1000 students. We still take great care to foster close contact between students and lecturers, avoiding anonymous and impersonal mass events and overcrowded lectures. With our hands-on practical training, we ensure a fast career entry: 89% of our graduates have entered into employment within a year after graduating. Our research is carried out on an international level under the umbrella of FIVE – Forschungs- und Innovationsverbund a der Evangelischen Hochschule e.V. (Research and Innovation Group at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg), with the critical research areas revolving around gender research, childhood education, civil society, and demographic change. We also have a lot to offer professionals: Masters's degree programs, certified advanced education, qualifications, and symposiums. We make obtaining a doctorate possible through cooperation with universities and universities of education. Internationalization is actively engaged throughout the whole university - for international and intercultural competencies are essential for (almost) everyone nowadays, not only when planning to work abroad. All Bachelor programs include the option of theory- and practice-oriented semesters of study and internships or short programs to be carried out abroad. We cooperate with around twenty partner universities worldwide: Belém, Copenhagen, Seville, or Vienna. Starting with the winter semester 2015/2016, the Bachelor program Social Work has offered the special certificate "International Social Work." Students opting for the additional qualification RECOS – cooperation between universities from the Germany / France / Switzerland tripoint - will gain knowledge about the political, economic, legal, and social situation in our neighboring countries and the challenges that social work and education are currently facing. Studying abroad does not leave you strapped for cash; we offer financial support in the form of various scholarships or grants: ERASMUS+, Baden-Württemberg scholarships, UNIBRAL, PROMOS, and Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World – Protestant Development Service). Students completing their degree in Germany without an integrated study abroad program are still able to gain international and intercultural experiences at our university: we invite lecturers and students from partner universities to Freiburg regularly, as well as experts from foreign companies and institutions, which allow them to share their perspectives and worldviews with us in seminars and lectures. The International Office of the university gives advice and support to students with an immigrant background and students from abroad. Our special offers include support by student tutors and lecturers, seminars "German for non-native speakers," and special scholarships from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). Our university offers various formats to pursue advanced scientific education for different professional fields: ranging from symposiums or seminars to Masters's degree programs. Advanced training offered by the IfW (Institute for Further Education) in Case Management and Palliative Care. Further education at the EH Freiburg gives professionals the chance to specialize in various subject areas. In some cases, individual modules can be opted for. The curriculum can be shaped flexibly. MASTERS IN SOCIAL MANAGEMENT, Our innovative qualifications for people in leading and management positions are based on a Christian worldview and understanding of humanity and considering ethical issues.
