The Montgomery Academy (MA) is a K–12, co-ed, nonsectarian day school serving the River Region community since 1959. Montgomery Academy (MA) prides itself on outstanding academics. Our Upper School offers more Advanced Placement (AP) classes than any other private school in the area. Our college acceptance list is impressive—with seniors admitted to some of the country’s most prestigious colleges and universities.
This excellence begins in kindergarten. Faculty is MA’s most vital asset. They are highly skilled, dedicated, caring, creative, and passionate educators. Teachers prioritize seeing each child as an individual and tailoring their teaching style to target their strengths, interests, and areas for improvement.
Instructional Coaches in the Lower School and “coach classes” in the Middle and Upper Schools provide customized learning opportunities for students who need either enrichment or extra help. This personalized approach extends beyond the classroom into the art studio, music room, playing fields, and the college counseling process.
Technology is incorporated throughout the Lower, Middle, and Upper School curriculum is intentional and strategic ways to enhance teaching and learning. MA students learn to learn. They develop critical thinking and communication skills, problem solving, character, and habits of mind that set them up for college success and their lives.
Montgomery Academy is the whole package: academics, arts, athletics, and abundant opportunities to get involved outside class. Campus organizations—sports and clubs, theater and music, debate, and student leadership—give students valuable opportunities to develop skills, make new friends, and try new activities.
Fun is also high on the agenda. Favorite traditions include Homecoming and Eagle Day: a field day of athletic events between the Cardinal and Navy teams. Each new student is assigned one of our school colors. This then becomes a student’s Eagle Day team. The winner of the day’s events, held each spring, claims the victory flag, which is flown over the school during the next academic year.
