We also have a course and program offerings at our partner locations, Normandale Community College and Mesabi Range Community & Technical College. We believe that place-bound individuals in the Twin Cities should have access to the quality education offered by Minnesota State Mankato. That's why we have established partnerships and an additional location in the Twin Cities—so that we can bring our face-to-face programs closer to you. From its founding in 1868 as Mankato Normal School, serving 27 students, this has been an institution where big ideas meet real-world thinking. The school became Mankato State Teachers College in 1921, Mankato State College in 1957, and Mankato State University in 1975. In 1998, it took the name that stands today—Minnesota State University, Mankato. Although our first graduates earned one-or two-year degrees to become teachers, the University has been granting four-year degrees in a growing number of disciplines since 1927. The first master's degrees were awarded in 1954, and the first doctorate was conferred in 2009. Minnesota State Mankato is led by Dr. Richard Davenport, who became the University's 12th president on July 1, 2002. President Davenport and the faculty, students, and staff are committed to solving problems, finding solutions, and making life better for people throughout our state, our region, and our global society. 16. All students should be encouraged to become well-rounded citizens who contribute positively to their communities. Achieving academic excellence and acceptance to top universities is a priority of The International School. Students and parents who share the values and aspirations of the school are at the right school. With parental support and students’ willingness to work, The International School spares no effort to ensure that every student achieves their full potential. In fact, throughout the SABIS Network, educators foster learning and provide academic support with the following motto in mind: “No child fails in peace.” The mission of The International School of Minnesota is to be recognized as a provider of top-quality education to a highly diverse student body. We prepare all students for college success, equip them with the ability and desire for lifelong learning, and strengthen their civic, ethical, and moral values.
