We do not want you to have that feeling for long, which is why 100% of our students receive some form of financial aid. Whether you live on campus or off, in the residence halls or the apartments, students are what makes student life happen. From carnivals to concerts, from Sutton Center to Campus Life, the Office of Student Affairs is available for you, the student. Through Student Affairs, Southwestern College offers students many avenues to pursue diverse interests, explore new possibilities, and become active in the world outside of the classroom. Reasonable and appropriate accommodations and services are provided on an individual basis for students with documented disabilities. Federal law requires students with disabilities to be allowed to use reasonable methods to meet educational requirements. Students must self-disclose the need for accommodations and provide the appropriate documentation. Southwestern College has its roots in the tradition of the Methodist circuit riders, whose love of education helped shape the educational landscape of the 19th century. Founded in 1885 by the Southwest Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the college graduated its first class of three students on June 3, 1889. The City of Winfield contributed resources to the original campus. In 1909 its name was changed from Southwest Kansas Conference College to Southwestern College, and in 1917 the school earned accreditation by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. Today the college thrives both on the main campus and throughout the world. Traditional-aged students are housed and educated on a wooded 85-acre site in Winfield, Kansas. The curriculum and extensive co-curricular activities are designed to prepare Southwestern’s graduates for “leadership through service in a world without boundaries,” as its vision statement declares. The college has been forward-thinking in its approach to technology and was the first to issue laptop computers to all students. Campus facilities have seen significant upgrades and expansion during the past quarter-century, with the most recent addition being the complete renovation of Richardson Performing Arts Center and the construction of Richard L. Jantz Stadium. Working adults of all ages complete college degrees through the Professional Studies program. On-ground centers are in several locations in Kansas and Oklahoma, but most learners choose to complete classes online. The college commitment to accessibility and logistical ease has led to leadership in educational options for military personnel. View full university
  2. We welcomed our first students in 1916, making KCU one of the nation's founding colleges of osteopathic medicine. We've been at the forefront of health care ever since. We are continually creating new programs such as the Clinical Psychology Doctoral program, an MS in biomedical science, and specialized dual degrees. And we're continually renewing our commitment to research and our communities, most notably with our new campus in Joplin. We offer more than a degree. We offer a student experience; for a century, we've been devoted to a purpose – the education and training of caring, compassionate osteopathic physicians. Today, that purpose includes training students in bioethics, biomedical sciences, and psychology. KCU is the second-largest provider of physicians in Missouri and Kansas, with 72 percent of alumni practicing in primary care specialties and 24 percent in rural areas across the nation. The KCU student community is routinely cited as one of the most welcoming of its kind—and it shows. The relationships you make with your peers will make you a better student in and outside of the classroom—and provide you with a professional network for life. As a KCU student, you may seek medical services for acute care or short-term treatment at any of our affiliate locations. If you require chronic care or need to be seen during off-hours, please contact your provider. Student health services, through an on-site clinic, are not provided or contracted by KCU. However, KCU students may seek health care through a group of off-campus, endorsed clinical providers who have affiliations with the University. As a KCU student, you may seek medical services for acute care or short-term treatment at any of our affiliate locations. We encourage all KCU students to establish a health care home with a primary care provider. Frequently, being an established patient enhances how quickly you can be seen for a problem. If you require chronic care or need to be seen during off-hours, please contact your provider. The following clinics' information is given to provide you with some available options. Students need to present their insurance card when seeing any health care provider. All expenses for health services are the responsibility of the student. KCU students are required to maintain personal health insurance. The University has partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City to offer a student health insurance plan to all students. All KCU students are enrolled in the plan, but the University does allow students to opt-out of the plan should they already have a health insurance plan that meets the KCU's minimum coverage standards. KCU-Kansas City students and faculty members have the opportunity to learn about and participate in research. Participation in the research process enables students to develop additional knowledge and critical-thinking skills that may improve patient care. It also continues the lifelong learning process for faculty as mentors. Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences is a community of professionals committed to excellence in education, research, patient care, and community service while improving the well-being of the communities we serve. Our vision is to become the most student-focused health sciences university in the nation by delivering value cultivating team spirit, and becoming a trusted partner. Our core values are: Integrity: Demonstrating respect, honesty, and professionalism Compassion: Caring for students, patients, colleagues, and all humanity Excellence: Achieving quality in all that we do Collaboration: Working with others to recognize diverse perspectives and achieve mutual goals Intellectual Curiosity: Pursuing personal and professional growth Innovation: Embracing new practices to improve outcomes Heritage: Remain true to our Midwestern values and the guiding principles of osteopathic medicine View full university
  3. The mission of Kansas State University is to foster excellent teaching, research, and service that develop a highly skilled and educated citizenry necessary to advancing the well-being of Kansas, the nation, and the international community. The university embraces diversity, encourages engagement, and is committed to discovering knowledge, the education of undergraduate and graduate students, and improvement in the quality of life and standard of living of those we serve. Kansas State University is a comprehensive, research, land-grant institution serving students and the people of Kansas, the nation, and the world. Since its founding in 1863, the university has evolved into a modern institution of higher education, committed to quality programs, and responsive to a rapidly changing world and an increasingly diverse society's aspirations. Together with other major comprehensive universities, K-State shares responsibilities for developing human potential, expanding knowledge, enriching cultural expression, and extending its expertise to individuals, business, education, and government. These responsibilities are addressed through an array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, research and creative activities, and outreach and public service programs. Its land-grant mandate, based on federal and state legislation, establishes a focus on its instructional, research, and extension activities, which is unique among the Regents' institutions. Through quality teaching, the university is committed to providing all students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills characteristic of an educated person. It is also pledged to prepare students for successful employment or advanced studies through various disciplinary and professional degree programs. To meet these intentions, the institution dedicates itself to providing academic and extracurricular learning experiences that promote and value both excellence and cultural diversity. K-State prepares its students to be informed, productive, and responsible citizens who actively advance cultural, educational, economic, scientific, and socio-political undertakings. Research and other creative endeavors comprise an essential component of K-State's mission. All faculty members contribute to the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge, applications, and products. These efforts, supported by public and private resources, are conducted in an atmosphere of open inquiry and academic freedom. Essential to this mission's pursuit is the university's commitment to broad-based programs in graduate education at both the master's and doctoral levels. Faculty, staff, and administrators share their expertise through service to the university and disciplinary organizations via outreach, engagement, and extension-related activities. Their work supports numerous projects related to the goals, missions, or aspirations of the departments, colleges of the university, and the members of the professional community. Through outreach and engagement initiatives, partnerships are established with various stakeholders to translate knowledge and basic research into applications that address public needs. These service activities are integrally related to the land-grant mission. The extension is governed by Kansas statutes that empower elected county councils and district governing boards with authority and responsibility to assess needs and conduct a local educational program in cooperation with Kansas State University and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). A network of local extension professionals and volunteers link Kansas State University faculty, the National Cooperative Extension System, to the USDA, which produces high-quality educational programs. If the proof is in the numbers, our case is clear. K-Staters are known for aiming high and then looking even higher from first-year students to tenured professors to entire departments. K-State is consistently ranked in the top 10 for many prominent Princeton Review rankings. We boast some of the highest numbers of national scholars in a public university, and our experts are called on to solve problems worldwide. How do you know if you are Wildcat material? It is easy. Wildcats are family. We are welcoming and inclusive. We believe in the greater good. We are the first to volunteer for demanding tasks. We love a challenge. We think before we act, and our actions are rooted in integrity and compassion. Being a Wildcat means taking chances to solve complex global challenges while still taking the time to do the simple things that make a big difference, like smiling at a stranger. No matter who or where you are, there is a place for you at K-State. We want to give you the tools you need to have an unforgettable college experience, land your dream job, and help change the world for the better. That is the Wildcat Way. It does not matter if you ask a long-time professor, recent graduate, passionate alum, or a fresh-eyed freshman. Pick a member of the K-State community at random and ask him or her what it means to be a Wildcat, and you will most likely get a one-word answer: Family. K-Staters consider themselves family, and that belief shines through contributions as diverse as our members. Researchers invent solutions to problems that could save a life halfway across the world, and students band together on a Saturday morning for community service. Thousands of Wildcat fans pack our stadiums shouting in unison, and our leadership guides us in ways befitting the obligations of a land-grant university. These obligations could be considered our family values, and the many ways we achieve them are the Wildcat Way. We invite you to come along for the ride because there is always room for one more in the K-State family. View full university

  5. Welcome to the Kansas City Art Institute. We are glad you are here. We want to get to know you and work with you to create a personal path for your future. KCAI provides a rigorous, diverse curriculum and an immersive studio experience for students passionate about the realization of their ideas. Of all the schools you will explore, we are confident that none offers more personal guidance, artistic tools, and resources, or opportunities for creative stimulation than you will find here. No question, the Kansas City Art Institute has the most beautiful, visually inspiring campus of any art and design school in the country. But that is not the reason that ambitious artist should insist on coming here. The real motive is more fundamental. It is about fashioning an idea into matter. KCAI is, above all, a makers' school. Our faculty recognizes the need for all tools – traditional and digital – to facilitate the teaching and creative process. We know students still want to learn how to make things. KCAI offers exceptional resources for both handcrafting and digital production, including a woodworking shop, kilns and, individual studios to facilitate physical construction, along with a state-of-the-art digital studio in the center of campus that houses highly sophisticated, 21st-century instruments, such as 3-D printers, a digital loom, and CNC routers. Finally, it is an enormous advantage that KCAI is uniquely situated between two exceptional art galleries—a world-class encyclopedic museum and a renowned contemporary art museum. Here, students can intimately experience the latest contemporary art trends on one side of campus and collections of Impressionist paintings or ancient Chinese sculptures on the other. KCAI is a studio between two showrooms—a place where passionate students can learn to transform powerful concepts into works worthy of notice, even acclaim. The mission of the Kansas City Art Institute is to prepare gifted students to transform the world creatively through art and design. The vision of the Kansas City Art Institute is to be an innovative leader in art and design education. In 1885, an enterprising group of Kansas Citians with a mutual appreciation for art decided formed a Sketch Club. They had no idea this Sketch Club would lay the groundwork for an institution that would become a distinguished four-year college of art and design. Notable names associated with the Kansas City Art Institute include Walt Disney, who took Saturday classes here as a child painter Thomas Hart Benton, who taught here from 1935 to 1941, multimedia artist Robert Rauschenberg, who studied fashion design at KCAI sculptor, conceptual artist, and writer Robert Morris celebrated, present-day performance artist, noted fabric sculptor and more recent KCAI graduate, Nick Cave, and the list goes on. Today, KCAI is an impressive reflection of its 130-year history and the community in which it evolved. KCAI is a four-year college of art and design. In any significant you choose, you will benefit from the immersive, professional studio environment, and learn-by-doing discipline at KCAI to earn your B.F.A. You will also feed off of the energy of your fellow students while being challenged, encouraged, and directed by your instructors. All of them are accomplished artists, designers, illustrators, photographers, and scholars. Your experience here will begin in the foundation program, where you will be confronted with challenges to your creative thinking and your ability to sense the possible. As a severe student passionate about your art, please make your future dreams a reality and apply it to KCAI. All applicants must have completed a recognized, secondary school program, or equivalency. The most important criterion for admission is your potential for success. The admissions committee seeks severe and motivated students willing to take creative risks. The committee understands that each student's level of imagination, innovation, and academic achievement is highly individual. Therefore, each applicant is holistically evaluated with sensitivity and open-mindedness. To start, set up a personal KCAI account. Then you can begin filling out your application and submit it with your application fee. Kansas City Art Institute is dedicated to helping students realize their educational objectives by providing scholarships, grants, loans, student employment, and other financial aid programs. KCAI helps over 98% of our students find the financial aid they need to pursue their B.F.A. degree. We awarded more than 12.5 million dollars of institutional aid in the 2015-16 academic year. The learning environment at KCAI is intense, but also fun. Many students love living their passion for art outside the classroom, while also taking time to enjoy new things, new friendships, and new experiences. All are essential parts of the journey, and the memories students will make. Students will find many opportunities to explore their interests outside the classroom, whether social, cultural, physical, or professional. One of the things that makes KCAI unique is our campus. The campus community is a tight-knit environment where faculty, staff, and fellow students care deeply about our students' success and strive to participate in and support the Kansas City art community. We also have a beautiful campus nestled in a historic neighborhood surrounded by two of the best art museums in the country, the Nelson-Atkins Museum and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. Students are often seen on the campus green, where they relax, play, and work. Our campus green is often the scene of Frisbee tossing, dog walking, kickball, soccer games, art installations, picnics, cookouts, parades, and study groups. View full university

Connect to a community that values and welcomes every individual – just as you are. Your interests. Your passions. Your aspirations. At Bethel College, we "welcome with open hearts, stimulate personal and spiritual discovery, transform through the power of community, and inspire tomorrow's leaders." Imagine combining your academic aptitude and extracurricular experiences to meet the world's needs – what do you see? Let us help. In 1886, three men stood on a knoll and surveyed a great sea of prairie grass — the center of an immigrant community that stretched for miles in all directions. Despite their differences, these people shared a commitment to educating their children. That meant a local college. Bethel College. 8. The story of UMKC is a story of partnerships and progress, expansion, and education. The University of Kansas City was chartered in 1929, and one year later, Kansas City businessman and philanthropist William Volker donated 40.8 acres to the University. In 1931, Volker acquired and donated the Dickey mansion, which would house the first library, classrooms, cafeteria, and administrative offices. UKC's first classes began in 1933, with 17 instructors and 265 students enrolled. In 1936, 80 students became UKC's first graduating class. With the founding of the University, UKC and Kansas City leaders wasted no time expanding, constructing three new buildings in three years. The first building constructed specifically for the University, Mannheim Hall, was built in 1935. Newcomb Hall came one year later, designed to be the school's library. Haag Hall was built in 1937. Students also wasted no time forming their identity. In 1934, the student council named "old gold and royal blue" the official school colors. And, in 1937, Kasey the Kangaroo became UKC's official mascot. The trustees approved intercollegiate athletics and fraternities and sororities in 1954. Academics expanded, too, as UKC partnered with area schools to add more divisions, programs, and majors. In 1938, Kansas City School of Law merged with UKC to form the Law School, and in 1941, the Kansas City-Western Dental College, founded in 1881, joined UKC. Today, the UMKC School of Dentistry is the only dental school in the state of Missouri. The University's dedication to the arts was born in 1942, with the Fine Arts Center's construction. The Kansas City Conservatory of Music joined UKC in 1959. In 1979, the James C. Olson Performing Arts Center was completed. Known as the "PAC," it's home to the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance and the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, helping UMKC become an integral part of Kansas City's cultural character. One of the University's most significant moves came on July 25, 1963, when UKC became a part of the University of Missouri System. Progress continued to follow, including the construction of Katz Hall (1965), Miller Nichols Library (1965), Royall Hall (1968), and the Education Building (1969).

By encouraging critical inquiry, innovation, and a global perspective, the Honors College significantly enhances the undergraduate educational experience at UMKC. The UMKC School of Medicine was founded in 1971, offering a unique and revolutionary six-year combined bachelor/M.D. Program. Located on the Hospital Hill campus, the Medical School has now graduated over 3,000 M.D.s. Recent advances, such as LEED® certified buildings and the 2009 establishment of the UMKC Foundation, have helped the University continue to serve students and the community and succeed in its mission to become the region's leading urban research university.
