Izhevsk State Medical Academy is a leading higher medical education provider in the Russian Federation. It is proud of its highly-qualified teaching staff, advanced researchers, and experienced physicians whose names are world-famous. The academy was established in 1933, and for 80 years, it has trained more than 21500 doctors and nursing managers. Nowadays, 351 teachers, including 86 Doctors of Medicine and 212 Candidates of Medicine, provide a high teaching process at 52 departments and 28 clinical bases of the academy. Over 2800 students study at the academy, including the foreign ones. The academy has been training international students since 1988. Students from 113 states of the former Soviet Union, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa have studied at our academy. Over this period, 3000 physicians, dentists, and pediatricians have been trained for foreign countries. Much is done to organize international exchanges for students and young doctors. The academy has general agreements of educational and scientific cooperation with the University of Pecs, CVI, Semmelweis University (Hungary), Medical University of Silesia (Poland), Oulton Instituto de diagnostico y tratamiento (Argentina), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), Novi Sad University (Serbia), Belarus State Medical University (The Republic of Belarus), University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Ivanovo-Frankovsk State Medical University (Ukraine), Samarkand Medical Institute (Uzbekistan) and others. During 25 years, more than 300 students from Italy, Germany, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Spain, Finland, Denmark, Macedonia, etc., participated in externships at the academy. In its turn, more than700 students and young scientists of Izhevsk State Medical Academy participated in an externship in other countries. The education process is organized at four departments, including General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dentistry, and Department of Post-graduate and Professional Training. The academic staff regularly participates in international conferences and symposia. Practical courses are taught at the best city hospitals and out-patient clinics, which enables us to apply the most advanced teaching methods. Below you can find out brief information and contact details of each department. All students can also visit the center of practical skills. Every entrant can prepare for exams in the center of pre-academy and additional training where academy workers prepare them for entering examinations. Students can visit our newly built gym to play football, volleyball or try any of the 15 available sports sections. Our students participate in national and federal competitions. ISMA is an important research center, and we are glad that our students take an active part in the academy's scientific life. Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University was founded in 1952 in intensive industrial development when there was an increasing demand for highly qualified engineers capable of managing production processes. On its 60th anniversary, it was named after the legendary small arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov. At present, Kalashnikov ISTU is a leading higher educational institution in the region and one of Russia's leading technical schools, a training center for engineers and academics. Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University is a signatory of Magna Charta Universitatum in Bologna, Italy, and a full European University Association (EUA) member. Central Evaluation has accredited six bachelor's and one master's study program of Kalashnikov ISTU and Accreditation Agency ZEvA, Hannover, Germany, with the possibility to issue internationally recognized diploma supplements. Kalashnikov ISTU is entitled to provide educational services in 49 programs of bachelor studies, 38 programs of master studies, eight specialties of higher professional education, 48 specialties of Ph.D. and 18 specialties of Doctoral studies, 16 programs of secondary professional education, one program of primary professional education, as well as the programs of supplementary education (skill-update courses and professional retraining, additional qualification "Professional Translator," courses for prospective students). Currently, Kalashnikov ISTU educates over 20,000 students, among them more than 100 international students. The classes and research works are conducted in 8 buildings, and the new one opened on 1 September 2009. For over 60 years, more than 65,000 engineers have been trained at Kalashnikov ISTU. There are nine specialized Academic Councils for Ph.D. and DSc degrees here. Scientific schools have been organized in strength, reliability, complex automation, CAD systems, computer science, chemical technology, and complex machinery testing. The university scientific schools direct their efforts to solve machine-building, instrument-making, computer science, and ecology. Researchers of Kalashnikov ISTU successfully participate in grant and scholarship programs together with colleagues from partner universities, both local and foreign. The university has all modern facilities to assist students in their studies and research. Over 2,500 PCs and workstations of Kalashnikov ISTU are combined into over 80 LANs linked to the Internet via the university Internet-portal. In the frameworks of innovative activities, the electronic library of Kalashnikov ISTU, which currently comprises over 500,000 entries, was implemented and successfully functioned. In virtual laboratories of the university, young specialists can do research and exchange information with their colleagues worldwide via the Internet. Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University has been continually developing its international relations. Academic mobility programs are implemented and promoted. Students of the university live in comfortable hostels on campus. They have their meals in canteens and snack bars placed in the university buildings. The students have all the necessary facilities for going in for sports. The university has a stadium, eight gyms, a tennis court, and a brand new swimming pool at its disposal. For the students and personnel to have a good and substantial rest, there is the university sports camp on the river Kama bank. Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University is currently developing cooperation in education, research, and academic exchanges with 45 foreign universities and research organizations from Europe, Asia, the Near East, and Africa. Currently, over 260 international students from 29 countries are educated at Kalashnikov ISTU, namely from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Liberia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Slovakia, Somali, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe. From 2013 in the frameworks of cooperation with Egyptian-Russian University – bachelor programs «Civil Engineering,» «Mechatronics and Robotics» and «Info-Communication Technologies and Communication Systems,» and from 2015 – master program «Project Management in Construction.» Up to now, 62 ERU students were granted bachelor diplomas of Kalashnikov ISTU. In the academic year, 2017/2018, our university launches a new bachelor program in English – «Software Engineering.» Kalashnikov ISTU is actively developing cooperation with educational institutions and research organizations from China. Our university is a member of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU), taking an active part in all the events under its auspices. In April 2015, Mr. Zhao Gochen, Plenipotentiary Minister, Advisor on Education in the Chinese Embassy in Moscow, paid our university's visit. In 2014-2015 Kalashnikov ISTU signed the agreements of cooperation with Harbin Institute of Technology and Nanjing University of Science and Technology. At present, seven graduates of our university's bachelor and master programs are being educated at the Harbin Institute of Technology with the Chinese Government's scholarships.
