- We welcome you to Islamia Primary School. We are the first Islamic faith-based voluntary aided school in the UK, known around the world due to the school’s celebrity founder Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) who established the school 33 years ago. At Islamia Primary School, we focus on providing children with a holistic education, ensuring that they achieve high academic standards in all national curriculum subjects. Our broad, balanced and creative curriculum includes STEM subjects like Coding to enable our pupils to be active citizens in an increasingly technological society. They also use 21st-century skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, collaboration, creativity, and leadership to enhance their learning experience. Our religious and value-based curriculum helps our pupils to develop a sound understanding of the Islamic faith and other faiths, free from distortion, misconceptions, or extremism. They establish a strong spiritual connection with Allah (God), a love of the Qur’an, proficiency in the Arabic language, and learn that the best of actions are those that bring benefit to others. We have a strong emphasis on values and work hard in nurturing children to have exemplary behavior, to be focussed and disciplined, and well prepared for secondary school and life within modern Britain. Our impressive range of extra-curricular activities and enrichment programs allow pupils to take part in a broad range of activities every day. Our school ensures that no one is disadvantaged or discriminated against. We ensure that girls and boys are provided with equal opportunities and have access to all parts of our curriculum. Islamia Primary School is probably the best-known Muslim school in Britain. Islamia Primary School was the first full-time Muslim school of its kind in England and the first to get recognition from the government after a long and difficult struggle. The School opened in October 1983 at Number 8, Brondesbury Park, NW6. Since then we have moved to what was known as the Kilburn & Brondesbury Secondary School. At first just a Nursery, Islamia Primary quickly grew to an Infant and then a Junior School too. The school was soon known for its excellent results and was hugely popular and as a result needed to expand. Also, there was now a growing demand for a Secondary School. So in 1989, the Islamia Schools Trust bid for the Kilburn & Brondesbury Secondary School site which is now home to Islamia Primary School and the independent Islamia Girls Secondary School. The site had been an old, and rather exclusive, Grammar School with many prominent ex-pupils. It had also served as a Synagogue for a time, during the construction of a purpose-built Synagogue over the road, (which is now part of the Al-Sadiq and Al-Zahra Islamic School). Finally, in January 1998, fifteen years after the school was founded, the government granted it state funding. The school continues to maintain excellent academic and spiritual standards. Islamia Primary School is a fully inclusive, voluntary aided primary, Islamic faith school that admits pupils from reception to year 6. We aim to ensure that all pupils achieve their potential, personally, socially, emotionally, and academically in all areas of the curriculum (regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability, or educational needs). - Founded in 1989, our vision was to establish a school where students felt safe, cared for, and enjoyed learning. We sought to not only prepare our students for the academic assessments that lay ahead but equally to take a holistic view of life and place emphasis on their spiritual and moral wellbeing. We hoped to encourage our students to appreciate the gift of life and behave as model exemplars of humanity, equipped with knowledge, wisdom, and compassion. We believed then, as we do today, that to develop into well-rounded individuals, each student must experience life beyond our walls and learn about the world around them. Appreciating differences and respecting one another has always been a central theme in the school. To this end, our students take part in interfaith programs, sporting competitions, business challenges, and debating contests with other schools across the country. Rated Outstanding in all categories by Oftsed in 2017, proves that we are achieving our mission to be an overall provider of excellent education and opportunities. We aim to nurture a society of forward-thinking, conscientious young Muslim women who contribute positively and valuably to our multi-faith, multi-cultural Britain and beyond. Our mission statement encapsulates our approach to education. Providing a secure Islamic environment means a harmonious place where everybody is equal, respects one another, and is a setting that is conducive to learning. It also means we provide a holistic approach to education, supporting the personal development of each student spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally through curricular and non-curricular activities Our School provides an environment where students explore and have the freedom to develop their own identity whilst understanding that they are all equal, unique and valuable individuals each with different and valid viewpoints. We recognize that positive encouragement, appreciation, and respect lead to more contented, wholesome students which play a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve. Through the Religious Studies department, students learn about the integrity and spirituality of their faith and the importance in Islam of respect of other faiths and belief systems. Through our curricular and non-curricular activities, we aim to promote personal responsibility and accountability. Motivated by a team of dedicated and professional staff, the education offered at Islamia Girls School aims to produce mature young ladies with leadership qualities and the ability to contribute, as responsible citizens, to the well-being of our society. We want our students to leave our school with Adab, which is respect for oneself and others, a respect for elders, and a strong sense of empathy for those less fortunate. Finally, as a Muslim school, we encourage our students to always be mindful of Allah and hope that they carry this awareness into their adult lives. We try to impress upon them the importance of establishing regular prayers and maintaining a sense of awareness of a reality that is greater than themselves. The purpose of this is to try and earn the pleasure of Allah by doing good deeds, being kind to others, and caring for the needy. View full school
- Bahawalpur has always been a seat of higher learning. Uch Sharif (a nearby ancient town) had one of the largest universities in the world where scholars from all over the world used to come for studies. As a continuation of this tradition, a religious University (Jamia Abbasia) was established in Bahawalpur in 1925, following the academic pursuits of Jamia Al-Azhar, Egypt. The renowned scholars spread the beacon of Islam by teaching Tafseer of Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and History along with other contemporary subjects. Given the changing scenario, Jamia Abbasia was declared as a general University in 1975 and was renamed The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Initially, it started functioning at Abbasia and Khawaja Fareed Campuses with ten Departments. To construct a modern and self-contained campus, 1250 acres of land was allotted to the University on Hasilpur Road about eight kilometers away from the city center. The dunes have been converted into well-built faculties, green lawns, hostels, residential colonies, farms, and orchards. It is known as Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus. The University was started with ten departments and now this number has increased to 45 offering 74 disciplines. Apart from conventional disciplines of Religious Affairs, Languages, Social and Basic Sciences education is being imparted in the areas of Business Administration, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Computer, Law, Education, Fine Arts, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, and Sports Sciences. The University values quality education rather than quantity. Towards the achievement of this end, a team of highly qualified and committed faculty members has been engaged. Moreover, research is being made a cornerstone of the educational philosophy. To provide opportunities for higher education to the youth at their doorstep, two campuses were established at Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar in 2005. Initially, Departments of Management Sciences and Computer Science & Information Technology were established for which response was very encouraging. The number of Departments at Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan Campuses have been increased to seven and six, respectively. A university is ought to meet the changing needs of our country by building on innovation, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary. Its mission shall be to create and disseminate knowledge through research and creative inquiry, teaching, and learning, and to transfer our intellectual product to enhance society in meaningful and sustainable ways. Its mission shall also be to serve students by teaching them problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork skills, and the value of commitment to quality, ethical behavior, and respect for others. By supporting partnerships and expanding fields of research through new collaborations, we will build our research capacity and continue to push the boundaries of innovation and discovery. We will deliver research and innovation clusters that strengthen multidisciplinary research and enhance knowledge transfer capability. These clusters will provide a forum for business, industry, and government partners. The commitment to excellence and high achievement cannot be compromised as the university moves forward. We will face both extra opportunity and real challenges in the next decade. The challenges include relentless competition for students and faculty, growing pressures and demands on resources, and the increasing complexity and uncertainty of our technological, economic, and political environments.
