- We are delighted to welcome you most cordially to the Hochschule Niederrhein, University of Applied Sciences. I am glad to see that many of you have consulted the English pages on our website to find out more about what the HN, as we call our university in short, has to offer you. Do you know the underlying idea for creating Germany's Fachhochschulen (Universities of Applied Sciences)? Well, you cannot only study there, but you can also simultaneously and very directly acquire the education and training specifically needed to enable you to embark on your chosen career path. This is why Fachhochschulen offers application-oriented studies coupled with a professional qualification. The degree programs aim to build a bridge extending from a sound academic education and disciplinary specialization and advanced training. It is not science for its significant stake; instead, it is applied science to which we attach importance, as the name says: A University of Applied Sciences. We are the No. 1 in our region: The University for the Niederrhein. We have provided regional companies, businesses, and enterprises with "precision engineered" specialists and executives for over 150 years. We aim to collaborate closely with business and industry in many different ways, thereby also delivering crucial impetus and momentum for our professors' dynamic research activities. For, we highlight the significance of innovative research. This approach, above all, benefits our students. There is probably no better way to prepare for a demanding and high-quality career life than that of having spent several years working on and dealing with applied research projects. That is the philosophy we pursue. As students, you get to benefit even more from our excellently geared and ideally interlinked collaboration with business and industry and the further advantages that this brings with it. Our professors, your teachers, are men and women who are familiar with science and academia and have extensive professional experience and practice. Before being appointed to a professorship at the Hochschule Niederrhein, they will often have spent many years working in companies of all kinds. They know the ins and outs of the profession they are training you for from the personal experience. They know what makes entrepreneurs tick, what their concerns and needs are, and, above all, what kind of academic background the skilled staff of the future will need to have when working in the industry. Many will also have gained years of experience abroad and can now pass on this knowledge to their students to extend horizons and open up new prospects and perspectives. The Hochschule Niederrhein is as bright and colorful as the region from which it comes. The diversity of industries operating in the region is reflected in the ten faculties of the Hochschule Niederrhein: the Faculties of Chemistry, Design, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science, Mechanical and Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Health Care in Krefeld, and the Faculties of Food, Nutrition and Hospitality Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Textile and Clothing Technology, Business Administration and Economics in Mönchengladbach. In the year 2013/14, the Hochschule Niederrhein will offer 51 Bachelor's and 24 Master's programs. The Lower Rhine itself is full of variety and diversity, too. Krefeld and Mönchengladbach both count around 250,000 inhabitants and offer a wealth of opportunities and plenty of choices for young people. As far as those interested in culture, partying, or going out are concerned, the Niederrhein always has something on, while those who still find it too small can easily reach one of Cologne's urban centers Düsseldorf or Essen by car in just around an hour. The Faculty of Design evolved from a tradition of more than 100 years of design education and training in Krefeld. Building on this experience, we have been teaching design as a subject that actively shapes the world in communication, spaces, and products. designkrefeld takes on responsibility for a holistically designed world in which relations between people and their artificially created environments decisively form a society. The design training we offer in Bachelor's and Master's programs combine artistic design with applied design practice and design theory knowledge. Our students develop into independently working individuals based on this self-conception, becoming designer personalities and team-orientated problem-solvers. Designkrefeld has 24 full-time teachers, 15 contract lecturers, highly-committed staff, and outstanding workshops to provide an ideal studying environment with a broad and diverse range of opportunities for engaging in projects with external partners. We carefully choose the 110 or so students we accept for each annual intake because we attach great importance to providing intensive, individual support and supervision, as well as a personal climate. Welcome to our website! Here you can find information on our study programs, projects with partners from research and business, and all things to know regarding our daily academic and administrative work and duties. We are located in Moenchengladbach, which is also called the green city on the Lower Rhine. With about 3,200 students, the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics is the largest faculty at Niederrhein University. Forty-five professors, one senior teacher, and five teachers for particular tasks are currently staff members of our faculty. Above that, more than 60 contract lecturers from business and industry are deployed in teaching. The faculty also employs 14 scientific and non-scientific staff, and at the research centers, there are 15 people plus two doctoral candidates engaged. We offer application-oriented full-time and extra-occupational study programs based on topical scientific findings and requirements relevant to the business. We value and focus on activity-oriented teaching and project work in collaboration with the business sector, thus ensuring a practice-oriented university education. Moreover, we also offer a constant exchange to our students and lecturers through national and international co-operations.

- The Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin was founded in 1950 as the “Deutsche Hochschule für Musik” (German Academy for Music). The School provides training to circa 500 students at two attractive locations at the heart of Berlin – in direct proximity to the Konzerthaus Berlin at Gendarmenmarkt, as well as in the Neuer Marstall on Schloßplatz, across from the Humboldt Forum, currently under construction. Faculty members – among them Nicolas Altstaedt, Kolja Blacher, Claudio Bohórquez, Hanspeter Kyburz, Marie-Luise Neunecker, Thomas Quasthoff, Christine Schäfer, Julia Varady, Antje Weithaas, and Tabea Zimmermann – contribute to the school's outstanding international reputation, as well as its strong appeal for young musicians around the world. Two thirds of the student body comes from abroad. Professor Robert Ehrlich has served as Rector of the Hanns Eisler School since October 1, 2015 The subjects' spectrum revolves around the outside art music and encompasses voice, piano, string instruments, woodwind, brass instruments, conducting, music theater direction, musicology, and composition. Components of the schools edschool'sal profile include a trio of institutes operated in conjunction with the Universität der Künste/the University of the Arts Berlin: the Jazz Institute Berlin, klangzeitort: the Institute for New Music, and the Kurt Singer Institute for Music Physiology and Musicians' Health, along with a preparatory music school, the Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Berlin. The School's ensembles, among them the Symphony Orchestra and the Echo Ensemble, perform at the highest artistic levels. Through masterclasses and workshops, students hone their musical skills by working directly with leading artistic personalities – among those who have worked with students at the School in such settings have been Midori, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Seiji Ozawa, Thomas Quasthoff, Sir Simon Rattle, and Christian Thielemann. At nearly 300 public events annually, the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin provides insights into its students' artistic development. Concerts, opera projects, lecture evenings, and masterclasses occur on school premises and at several additional attractive venues throughout the German capital. As a vital link within the network of renowned cultural institutions found in the German Federal Republic's capital, the School works closely with the excellent Berlin orchestras, the city's three opera houses, and several other institutions of various sizes and types. The experience of performing publicly on concert and theater stages is a fundamental aspect of training at the Hanns Eisler School. Students accumulate necessary experience in the professional music business during their studies and establish contacts capable of furthering their subsequent careers. Claudio Abbado †, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, and Wolfgang Rihm are among those who have supported or are currently supporting the School's artistic and educational aims by serving in the function of Honorary Senators. Among the members of the University Board – an external representative body composed of personalities from culture, business, and scholarship and situated at the interface between the School, the government, and the wider society – are Bernd Wieczorek, Petra Mai-Hartung, Lothar Zagrosek, with Prof. Antje Weithaas, who represents the faculty. The Society of Friends and Patrons of the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin promotes our students' interests and has also established the artists' agency "Eisleriana. " Among the school's alumni are personalities such as Jochen Kowalski, Olga Peretyatko, Anna Prohaska, Roman Trekel (voice) Georg Katzer, Siegfried Matthus, Friedrich Schenker (composition) Vladimir Jurowski, Lahav Shani, Ernst Stoy, Sebastian Weigle, Kahchun Wong, Feng Yu (conducting) Jenny Erpenbeck, Tatjana Gürbaca, Peter Konwitschny, Christine Mielitz, Vera Nemirova (direction) Isabelle Faust (violin) Antoine Tamestit (viola) Nicolas Altstaedt, Claudio Bohórquez, Sol Gabetta, Danjulo Ishizaka, Johannes Moser (cello) Martin Helmchen (piano), as well as in the jazz realm, Volker Schlott and Rolf von Nordenskjöld (saxophone). It holds approximately 14 400 books, 57 000 scores, and 4100 CDs/Videos. Media can be researched online and reserved through the Online Catalogue. The Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin awards the Deutschlandstipendium to students of all nationalities and all subject areas who show exceptional promise under their outstanding achievements and social commitment. Through a Deutschlandstipendium, you will provide significant material assistance to an outstanding young musical talent, allowing him/her to focus entirely on his/her studies. The Deutschlandstipendium is based on mixed financing: one half of each stipend is financed through private donations, while the German Federal Republic covers the other half. Therefore, your contribution of €1800 means a total payment of €3600 for a one-year scholarship. Beginning in the winter semester, each student receives €300 monthly for 12 months. When you decide to sponsor a Deutschlandstipendium, you enjoy the prerogative of earmarking the award, i.e., for a specific artistic subject. We are also grateful for donations in amounts lower than the subsidy amount of €1800: these flow into a sponsorship pool through which contributions are bundled and used to cover additional stipends. Your gift can also be utilized for tax purposes (you will receive a donation receipt toward the end of the year). As a sponsor, you will be invited to official events such as the Deutschlandstipendium Awards Ceremony and an exclusive annual concert given by scholarship holders – and will hence enjoy opportunities to become acquainted with stipend holders, instructors, and the School's president. You can learn more from our brochure, which is available in the download area. If you decide to sponsor the Deutschlandstipendium with a donation, please fill out the sponsorship form and send it via mail, fax, or e-mail to the scholarship office. We would be happy to assist you at any time with your questions or concerns.

- The Hochschule fur Musik und Tanz Koln is one of the world's top-performing arts schools and one of the largest music institutions for higher education in Europe. Its three campuses in Cologne, Wuppertal, and Aachen. It is our mission to educate students and to accompany them in their artistic, educational. Personal growth, to respect every student's individuality, to treat men and women as equals, to make every student feel welcome and accepted, to bring together various cultures and art forms, and to establish and support an academic community with a high degree of solidarity, democracy, and humanity. These values are requirements for the University's educational mission and the foundation of an atmosphere in which art, instruction, and research can flourish. In 1927, as one of the first academic institutions for music in Germany, the University was honored with "Hochschule" (institution of higher education). This distinction followed the decision to abandon traditional academic programs, which focused solely on soloist performance offered at conservatories, instead of embracing a more global goal by introducing the "music education" program: artistically and pedagogically educating musicians multifaceted as possible. Even today, this aim of versatility remains the foundation for the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln's forward-looking image. The University is committed to providing students worldwide with comprehensive education and a high level of professional skills. To do so, we create modern degree programs that are both interdisciplinary and aimed at the future. Along with our partner institutions throughout the world and our affiliate in Italy (Europäische Akademie für Musik und Bildende Kunst, Montepulciano), we also guarantee a high degree of internationality, which will also be fostered by our partnerships with other higher education institutions for performing arts in North Rhine-Westphalia in the form of a jointly designed academic institution in Montepulciano. The three campuses, the Cologne campus boasts the most comprehensive and extensive course offerings in the arts, education, and academics. The Hochschule fur Musik und Tanz Koln prides itself on its extensive range of degree programs and curricula, more than at almost any other comparable institution of higher education in Europe. The Hochschule fur Musik und Tanz Koln emphasizes preparing its students with as targeted a focus as possible for their future careers. To achieve this goal, the curricula of the teaching degree in music and all the programs will be thoroughly evaluated and integrated into professional fields and overseen by mentors. Countless graduates from the Hochschule fur Musik und Tanz Koln have gone on to perform with Europe's most renowned orchestras and opera houses or have won prizes in the most significant international competitions, proving that the University's outstanding performing arts education is among Europe's premier institutions of higher education for music.

- Welcome to Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business, and Design! A long name clearly outlines our concept: three modern disciplines under one roof - interdisciplinary and practice-oriented. There are several good reasons why Wismar University often scores highly in national and regional rankings. We are an entrepreneurial institute of higher education, not just in the organization and design of optimal conditions for studying and working but also in terms of what we pass on to our graduates: developing innovative ideas and sustainably implementing them. This is what we call entrepreneurial spirit. Dynamism originates inside the head and is then transmitted to the surroundings. Wismar University works for hand in hand with academic institutions and business partners in the region and around the globe. This provides scope for new topics, perspectives, and cooperation projects. The development of innovations requires an inspiring working climate and the appropriate degree of on-site support. Our students find both in the form of state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops on our online campus, one-on-one supervision, and certified family-friendly infrastructure. There are only short distances to cover on campus, whether in Wismar or at Rostock-Warnemünde and Poel branches. Are you a student from abroad wishing to complete your entire studies in Germany? If so, the Studienkolleg may be for you. In this Foundation Course, you can gain the subject-related knowledge and skills required to study in Germany. At the end of the course, which usually lasts two terms, you will take an assessment examination. Your entitlement to embark upon a course of study in Germany. This applies to all foreign applicants for a degree course for whom direct admission to an institute of higher education in Germany is not possible following the assessment proposals.* Assessment proposals: Foreign education certificates and their assessment in the Federal Republic of Germany, issued by the office of the Kultusministerkonferenz (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany), the central agency for education systems abroad. The purpose of the Foundation Course is to prepare prospective students wishing to embark upon a degree course for the so-called assessment test, which serves as verification that the foreign applicant meets the language and specialist requirements for their chosen course of study. It is assumed that students from abroad applying for a place on a degree course who pass this assessment test will have a level of knowledge comparable to that of first-year German students. Students passing this test are eligible to take up a course of study at higher education in Germany. Of course, it is possible to sit the assessment test without attending the Foundation Course beforehand (external examination). This requires verification of a sufficient command of the German language, such as the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP) of Goethe-Institut, which corresponds to level C2 the Common European Framework (CEF) with 750-900 hours of lessons. The training takes place in specialization courses corresponding to the desired course of study of the student. Students typically attend the specialization courses of the Studienkolleg for two terms. In justified exceptional cases, the training period can be shortened to one term or extended by a maximum of two terms. Each term can only be repeated once. The training in the Foundation Course is concluded by the assessment test, verifying that the foreign applicants for a place of study meet the language and specialist requirements for their desired course of study and that they have the aptitude to take up a degree course at an institute of higher education in the Federal Republic of Germany. Wismar is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. It is here that old architectural structures in the brickwork of the Hanseatic town meet contemporary design, incorporated harmoniously. A backdrop is symptomatically embodying the spirit of the town. Wherever you are, you can sense how tradition and the spirit of the time come together. Wismar is a vibrant and bustling town whose liveliness is also contributed to, not least, by the university students, who leave their mark here and provide fresh impetus. This is the distinguishing feature of a Hanseatic town: preserving established structures and being receptive to new things. The eight-degree courses you see below offer both local and international students who speak English fluently and meet the other admission requirements. Each degree has its admission requirements that you are invited to read through by following the links. If you are an international student, you may want to know Wismar's unique advantages. Please look below to learn more! Sport, music, art, culture, parties, and festivals. Wismar may not be a metropolis, but it certainly offers a comprehensive and colorful range of possibilities for making meaningful use of your leisure time, depending on your preferences. Studentenwerk Rostock (Student Services Rostock) offers furnished rooms in several modernly furnished residential homes in Wismar. There, you share kitchen and bathroom facilities with other students. These rooms have a one-semester rent contract. For many international students, this is the first and most straightforward choice. You can make arrangements before your arrival. Contact the Studierendenwerk Rostock-Wismar. Often students share a flat and form a so-called Wohngemeinschaft, or WG (shared apartments). The rent for each flatmate is very reasonable. On several webpages, you can find offers for available rooms (also furnished). If you cannot arrange for housing until after your arrival, the International Office staff will be glad to assist you. Monthly rent in a WG can range from 170 to 230 euros. Sometimes extra fees are charged for electricity, heating, etc. Make sure to ask about these in advance.

- Given the ever-increasing qualification demands the banking industry makes on its workforce, the trend towards upgrading skills will continue. As a response to this development, the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (which is the group of savings banks, Landesbanken, and associated companies) has founded its own state-approved University of Applied Sciences in summer 2003. The "Hochschule der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe - University of Applied Sciences - Bonn "(University of the Savings Banks Finance Group) offers performance-oriented employees of financial institutions the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized academic degree in parallel to their vocational training or professional activity. The unique features of the University of the Savings Banks Finance Group are the solid foundation on international standards, practice-related new and quality-secured programs of study, the integration of university education and advanced professional training, and a successful studies-guaranteeing, web-based learning, tutorial, and student support concept via the Internet. One particularity of the study concept is the programs of studies specially tailored to the financial services area, which prepare the students in and for the present and future business segments of the banking industry in line with business policy and market requirements. The courses of study are thus a qualification offer for fields of activity in the financial services sector in which the complexity of professional skills calls for graduate recruitment. Brilliant career opportunities are opened up to the graduates, as the curricula of study envision a tight interlinking of theoretical and practical contents strongly related to everyday work activities. An internationally renowned accreditation agency has fully accredited the four undergraduate and two graduate degree programs. Against this background, the University of the Savings Banks Finance Group provides its students with professional skill-enhancing academic degrees recognized at the national and international level. The principal guidelines of the study concept are the orientation towards practical aspects, a strong focus on application to the students' careers that take studying from the conceptual to the practical, allowing students to integrate needed skills and competencies into daily work efforts immediately, quality assurance and a modern, trend-setting study concept. The overriding goal of the training- and career-accompanying study concept of the University of the Savings Banks Finance Group is to ensure the students' ability and capability to study and exercise their job tasks simultaneously. With this in mind, a distance education-based learning and counseling scheme has been developed, offering the students comprehensive organizational, technical, and expert support and guidance during their distance studies. Unlike the traditional distance studying of the text and study materials at home, the students are thoroughly instructed and tutored over the Hochschule's Internet-based learning platform and carefully prepared for their examinations. This platform serves as an information terminal and access portal to study materials and as a self-tuition medium and communication center for students and teaching staff alike. In addition to the high-quality distance study program marked by comprehensive counseling and advisory services for all students, the University of the Savings Banks Finance Group offers its students a wide range of events and activities with compulsory attendance in its decentralized distance study centers. The aim of these activities taking the form of lectures, exercise courses, seminar courses, and case study reviews are, on the one hand, to revise and deepen the contents of the subjects relevant to the exams as well as the specialized knowledge and method competences acquired in the course of the distance studies. On the other hand, they give the students additional room for questions and the practice-related application of the learned subjects.

Those pillars contain significant challenges for the future of the region, but as well as for national and global development. Our current main priorities divert from those pillars: Raw materials and Post-mining Industrial production techniques and material-efficiency Smart Energy and energy-efficiency The TH provides the university development plan that the research priorities are going to be developed further in their field of competences of the TH in the next years. Next to the main priorities, the TH is also dealing with a lot of other research topics. From designing machines and equipment to developing mechatronic systems to utilizing renewable energy, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Material Sciences explores a wide range of subjects. Interdisciplinary projects at the Faculty look at programmable logic controllers for simulating materials handling processes in factories. Or analyzing chassis and quality management programs for the automotive industry. TH Georg Agricola tackles issues relating to climate change in its energy development program. From biofuels to wind turbines and solar energy, it fosters a sustainable energy mix and cleans energy supplies with renewable power production processes. The applied material sciences research the properties, safety characteristics, and quality of materials and develop products using renewable materials. In their research, they look at both the financial issues and the technical aspects. View full university

View full university

View full university

View full university

You can only be admitted to a Bachelor's degree program if your high school diploma entitles you to attend a university of applied science (Fachhochschulreife) or a research university ("Allgemeine Hochschulreife") and you have completed a six weeks internship before enrolling. Applicants for Master's degree programs must have a German Diplom or Bachelor's degree. The final admission decisions are made based on the student's overall grade point average. Applicants may have to take qualification tests for specific fields and programs. International applicants must provide proof of a university degree that is equivalent to the German Bachelor's. International applicants must present transcripts and other documents that prove that they are entitled to attend a university in their home country. This entitlement is equivalent to the German Fachhochschulreife. Alternatively, they can present (a) documents that show that they have passed the tests granting them the Fachhochschulreife, or (b) foreign documents recognized by the Ministry of Education that show they have obtained the Fachhochschulreife or the Allgemeine Hochschulreife. Chinese applicants must also present the certificate granted by the Academic Testing Center (Akademische Prüfstelle – APS) of the German Embassy in Beijing. Moroccan applicants must attend a one-year college preparatory program (Studienkolleg). Alternatively, they can present a general or technical baccalauréat along with documents showing that they completed one year of studies in Morocco in a degree program similar to the one they are applying for The three main pillars of the TH are raw-materials, energy, and the environment.
