The university has five institutes. The Institute for Music and Media (IMM) is the largest institution with around 200 students. There is also the Musicology Institute, the Institute of Sacred Music, and the Institute of Composition and Music Theory. Even Schumann Junior, the training center for gifted children and young people, is a private institution.
Robert Schumann University understands its quality management as a creative, systematic, and controlled development process of all levels. Together with all status groups, the learning and teaching of music in the tension between stage, media, and society is being developed constructively. In this context, it fulfills its obligation given by the Kunsthochschulgesetz to continuously and systematically review the fulfillment of its tasks, especially in teaching. The evaluations to be carried out in this context are summarized in the evaluation regulations of the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences.
The department for quality management and teaching at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences has been permanently set up since January 1, 2017, with 75% coverage. A scientific assistant supports Jürgen Reimann.

The state of NRW concludes a so-called university contract with every university, college, and art and music college. In this university contract, the university provides information, among other things, on its current and future priorities in teaching and research, the number of study places, its gender equality goals, and its projects in the field of cultural education. Besides, the university is committed to evaluating the success of its graduates entering the profession to conclude the study program's quality. In return, the state guarantees the universities financial planning security. The university contracts have a term of four years each.

The offers of the university library are addressed to all members and members of the university. At the beginning of the right to use (see Rules of Use and Fees ), a user account will be created for you at the circulation desk to present the identity card / a recognized identification document. You will have access via the online catalog. You will also receive your user card, which is required for each loan. For external interested parties, there is the possibility of present use.
