The Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard is one of the six University colleges managed by the Wallonia Brussels Federation. Located in the city center and the Namur province, the Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard offers you cutting-edge teaching. The Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard (HEAJ) was born on the 15th of September 1995 from the merger between the Institut d’Enseignement Superieur Pedagogique de la Communaute francaise in Namur (ESPENA) and the Institut d’Enseignement Superieur Economique de la Communaute francaise in Tamines (IESET) in compliance with the Decree of 8/5/1995 establishing the general organisation of higher education in University Colleges. In September 2000, the Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard opened the Bachelor's Degree in Computer graphics, the first specialized program in Belgium. The HEAJ grew thus with a third department, the technical department. In 2012-2013, an Honours year in video games was born in collaboration with the University of Namur. Finally, at the start of the 2012-2013 school year, a fourth department was added: the paramedic's department, Enseignement Superieur Paramedical de Namur (ESPAN). This department has been created following the French Community's decision to open a new Bachelor's Degree in Psycho-motility. This new program is organized as a Joint Degree with the Haute Ecole de la Province de Namur (HEPN). Our Programmes are Economics, Computer Graphics, Paramedics, Education. The "Hautes Écoles" is in charge of training half of the higher education students in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Thanks to their applied research activities, which are numerous, exciting, and still very little known, they ensure the high-quality teaching level and participate actively in the regional socio-economic development. Current research projects at HEAJ are BEE – Builders of Educative Ecosystem. The BEE research project focuses on teaching staff support. It aims at the development of digital learning ecosystems that are adapted to higher education. These ecosystems have the following goals, support students in their learning processes, allow more specific support from teachers during experimental learning stages. BEE makes the most of inductive methodologies and the wide range of digital tools available nowadays. All this for optimal use and entirely in line with the learning context of higher education students. The HEAJ supports entrepreneurship, supervises, and encourages student entrepreneurs who want to carry out their projects. This is what being a responsible school means. We at HEAJ think that a student's project, of whatever kind, deserves to be supported. The Haute Ecole Robert Schuman obtained the Erasmus European Charter for the 2014-2020 higher education allowing him to participate in the Erasmus + mobility program. This program provides academic mobility opportunities and training to students and opportunities for teaching assignments and training for staff in the 28 countries of the European Union plus Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, FYROM, and Turkey. There are also opportunities for national mobility through the Erasmus Belgica Exchanges cooperative programs. Finally, FAME (Fund for Aid to Student Mobility) enables mobility worldwide. The Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere, located in Brussels and the Walloon Brabant, offers a wide range of three-year (Bachelor’s degree) and five-year (Master’s degree) training. Each year, the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere welcomes 1600 students spread out in 15 pieces of training, themselves gathered in five categories: agronomic, educational, economic, paramedical, and technical. For each option, the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere offers training that combines the theoretical and practical aspects thanks to well-supervised and long-lasting training in the field and lots of seminars with professionals. While remaining an institution concerned about keeping its regional roots, the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere subscribes to the Bologna process to allow its students to go past the borders and complete their training towards European countries. Thus, for ten years, the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere has established instructive exchange partnerships with other institutes, higher schools, and European research centers. Other collaborations also exist with Canada and the United States, which thus favors transatlantic exchanges. Moreover, with the Free University of Brussels (ULB) and as a founder member of the Brussels-Wallonia European University Pole, the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere wishes to favor the exchanges between students and the bridges (reorientations) between training and levels to the most. Finally, the primary mission of the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere is to lead its students to build their knowledge and find a place in their working life. Thus, the future integration of the students in the socioeconomic world is, among other things, based on an education that is opening up to the outside world. Moreover, that practice is also acquired thanks to the collaborations of several companies and research centers to achieve the end of studies works. But the main asset for the students who accede to higher education is the organization, proposed by the Higher Education Institution Lucia de Brouckere, of continuous educational support. Elmo counts 8000 students, and more than 900 staff members spread over five departments located in Liège and its surroundings. Today, higher education operates in an increasingly international environment. The change is multi-facetted and fast-paced, yet offers real opportunities. 'Mobility' is one of the most well-known of these. Mobility gives students the chance to study or do a work placement in another country. Lecturers can also benefit from Mobility by training or teaching in another European country ‒ at any stage of their career. At our University College, Leonardo da Vinci (HE Vinci), we have a twenty-strong team initiating and supporting international projects. We encourage our students, lecturers, and administrative staff to take advantage of mobility opportunities, and we provide them with support and supervision. What is more, international coordinators from each of our 5 Institutes meet in an International Relations Group (GRI), which meets every month. Its purpose is to discuss promising practices in international action and coordinate projects, such as Erasmus's recent 30th-anniversary celebration. The GRI works for hand in hand with the Quality Assurance and Communication Departments and the Board of Governors. In 2017, more than 300 HE Vinci students and staff participated in the Erasmus+ program at the time of writing. And 200 more are pursuing their studies or are undertaking work placements of different durations outside Europe. The annual EAIE Conference (European Association for International Education) is a critical event in international cooperation in higher education. HE Vinci participates every year to develop new partnerships. The Conference is an opportunity to meet the prominent figures and practitioners in higher education. Belgian State visits to foreign countries, involving King Philippe and Queen Mathilde ‒ Queen Mathilde studied speech therapy at Marie Haps ‒ always have an academic dimension. The President Director of HE Vinci takes part to generate contacts with the business world and forge new partnerships. HE Vinci also participates in foreign inter-university visits organized by ARES, the Federation of French-speaking higher education institutions in Belgium. ARES is a unique umbrella organization that enables universities, university colleges, and colleges of arts to present a united front to international partners. A study visit or a work placement in another country helps to build independence and creativity. It is a unique opportunity to experience a different way to learn and benefit from innovative methods. The skills acquired during such visits: the ability to adapt, resilience, curiosity, and greater productivity are highly sought after by employers. Our international projects and student exchanges are possible thanks to partnerships with institutions worldwide, with NGOs and businesses. These partnerships spring from international colloquiums or seminars or arise out of disciplinary networks. The ENCBW is a founding member of the Comenius Association. Comenius is a network of European teacher training institutions, set to obtain participatory status with the Council of European Council. The association aims to help develop trainee lecturers' intercultural skills by, for example, developing techniques to help them understand other cultures. In our university college, Leonardo da Vinci (HE Vinci), where 68 nationalities mingle together, intercultural openness and alterity are essential. The European Association of Institutions of Higher Education, EURASHE, offers professionally oriented programs. Its members include universities, university technology institutes (IUT), and university colleges. EURASHE also: organizes international projects, conferences and colloquiums, expresses its opinion on policy initiatives, and represents the teacher training profession to political institutions and social partners. The most recent EURASHE annual conference, on the theme of Quality, was hosted by HE Vinci. The European Union has set the goal of 20% of students undertaking exchanges by 2020. HE Vinci has adopted this goal. We encourage our students to go abroad and welcome our partners' students to study with us. We pay close attention to the Quality of the exchanges we offer. An international presence cannot be achieved by decree. Nor can attractiveness be measured by the number of student or teacher exchanges alone. We have taken concrete steps to raise our profile and increase our recognition among both our current and potential partners. These include enhancing our professionalism, our teaching quality, our services, and our research capabilities. The 'internationalization at home' concept refers to a wide range of situations. Generally speaking, it refers to offering activities ‒ in which the 'international' is present ‒ to students and members of staff who do not take part in exchanges, thereby improving their international and intercultural skills. The Haute École de Namur-Liège-Luxembourg was born from the merging of two famous institutions: the Haute École de Namur and the Haute École Blaise Pascal. The Haute École de Namur-Liège-Luxembourg counts about 5500 students working on eleven campuses in the provinces of Namur, Liège, and Luxembourg. They offer a nearly complete range of training in three years (bachelor) and several years of specialization, a Master in Social Management Engineering, a Master in Computer System Architecture, and a Master in Industrial Engineering. The Haute École de Namur-Liège-Luxembourg trains field practitioners. That means the studies we offer are meant for students motivated by specific training and concrete action. Bachelor studies in an Haute École or university both last three years. However, they vary quite a lot, fundamentally. Bachelor studies offered at university are called “transition” they help provide access to further years called “master.” They do not offer direct access to a job. Bachelor studies offered in an Haute École, among them the Haute École de Namur-Liège Luxembourg, are called “professionalizing”: they offer full degrees giving direct access to professional life. Moreover, the Haute École de Namur-Liège-Luxembourg organizes three Masters, all of them handling together theory and practice: the Master in Social Management Engineering, the Master in Computer System Architecture, and the Master in Industrial Engineering. On each campus of the Haute École, many services are at your disposal: libraries, computer and multimedia rooms, cafeterias… There are also very regular sport or cultural activities, visits and study trips, lectures. In its constant research of opportunities to offer to its students, the Haute École de Namur Liège-Luxembourg is turned to Europe and the other continents. In the European Lifelong Learning Programme, our students can spend academic time studying or placement abroad in one of the many partner-universities.
