Want to get involved in campus life, and even leadership, starting your very first year? Come to Gordon - and jump in! Looking at Gordon State College today, it is hard to imagine that this College, vital to higher education in middle Georgia, began as a little schoolhouse for local children. In 1832, Josiah Holmes built a frame schoolhouse in the center of Barnesville's quiet town so that local children could learn the classics. Twenty years later, the Georgia General Assembly incorporated the school as the Barnesville Male and Female High School. Another 20 years later, 1872, the school was renamed the Gordon Institute, in honor of General John B. Gordon, who served Georgia during three terms in the U.S. Senate and two terms as governor. The Gordon Institute created a military department of study in 1890, and for the next 80 years, the school distinguished itself as a premier military institution. Despite the many changes, Gordon has held onto its roots. Though it is a larger school today, it still maintains its small-college feeling. Most important, Gordon State College is as committed to fulfilling the community's educational needs today as it was when it opened its doors more than 160 years ago.

    Gordon College

Education is a transformation. At Gordon, we take it personally. It is our privilege, not just our responsibility, to create unique academic, co-curricular, and relational milestones in our students' lives. The Gordon experience creates a context for knowledge gained, provides opportunities to apply what is learned, and refines a broader purpose—a vocation or calling—in each student's life. Gordon College strives to graduate men and women distinguished by intellectual maturity and Christian character, committed to service lives and prepared for leadership worldwide. As an intentional Christian community, Gordon serves students from a wide range of backgrounds who embrace the College's broadly evangelical identity and desire an experience that combines an exceptional liberal arts education with an informed Christian faith. We retain a commitment to integrating faith and learning, a heritage once embraced by many institutions, such as our neighbor in Boston, Harvard University—the first higher learning institution in the United States. Gordon also remains committed to the power of a liberal arts education to hone qualities most sought by employers—the ability to think holistically, reason analytically, communicate persuasively, and—even more importantly—to act morally. Our primary responsibility is to prepare students for the long haul to make them spiritually, intellectually, relationally, and professionally ready for a lifetime of growth—from the first job out of college and beyond, into fields not yet existing. When individuals are likely to switch occupations (not just employers) throughout a career, a vital liberal arts education offers flexibility and agility. Our mission is the foundation of all we do as we inspire the next generation toward faithful leadership for the common good. We're a community of scholars and servants, leaders and learners, truth-seekers, and globe-trotters. We have curious minds and compassionate hearts, and we want to change the world. Join us? It starts here. At Gordon—one of the nation's premier Christian colleges, just outside of Boston—you will discover how to lead your life with purpose, worthy of the unique call God has inspired in you. Scholarships can reduce your college costs by up to $120,000! Competitive scholarships require an invitation from the Admissions Office during the application process. Merit-based scholarships are determined by your GPA and SAT or acted score and are automatically awarded upon Gordon's acceptance. Also, unique and outside scholarships for particular circumstances or talents can help reduce your college costs. At Gordon College, we welcome the unique experience and perspective that transfer students bring to the classroom and campus life. From your first contact with Gordon, you will have an admissions counselor who works directly with you to make the process a seamless one. Your admissions counselor will help you navigate the transfer credit evaluation and the financial aid process. We look forward to welcoming you to Gordon. At Gordon, we value that you have already been a hard-working college student before applying to us as a transfer. We understand that evaluating the courses you intend to transfer is one of the essential pieces of your college decision. When a transfer student has been offered acceptance to Gordon College, we request a Transfer Evaluation to be completed by our Registrar's Office. We intend for you to receive your evaluation before making a final college choice. The area where Gordon is located could not be better. We are 25 miles from the thriving academic downtown of Boston, 3 miles from the Atlantic Ocean's beaches, and situated on 450 acres of beautiful New England forests. We encourage you to look at the area guide, but we would love to see it for yourself. Higher-Level International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme exams with five or better scores will be considered for college credit upon receipt of the official certificate. Specific course credit allocation will be determined by the academic department involved. Whether you are an American living abroad, a foreign citizen living in the States already, or a foreign citizen living abroad, your admissions counselor will help you navigate the process of applying to Gordon College as a freshman or transfer student. We look forward to welcoming you here. Gordon's devoted faculty and staff and active student organizations provide crucial support for students transitioning into education in the USA. Whether you require help with paperwork or want to enjoy fellowship with other international students, you will find a supportive network of caring peers and mentors on your Gordon journey. Studying at Gordon is about preparing to lead your life well. A challenging education within a faith framework offers students the freedom to curiously and courageously wrestle with tough questions, entertain new ideas, seek the truth, and take action. The journey to personal and professional development begins on day one at Gordon. Over four years, we want students to aim for more than just a job out of College. We want them to discover and pursue their God-given calling. The Career Services Office is here as a guide along the way, helping students bridge their classroom learning to real-world experience to prepare them well for life after graduation. When studying abroad, you discover a place that follows a different rhythm, and you learn its customs—from kneeling in Franciscan caves on the slope of Monte Subasio, to buying fresh caracoles at the local fish market in Seville, to salsa dancing on the streets of Zagreb during a Cuban festival. Global Education at Gordon is about intentionality and immersion, in connecting to a new community as a participant and not just as an observer.
  3. As one of the largest regional TAFEs in Victoria, Gordon has helped people gain real skills for real jobs for over 125 years. We pride ourselves on delivering a great range of options in vocational 'hands-on' training with one of the most comprehensive suites of courses in Western Victoria. Students can choose from hundreds of short courses and nationally accredited qualifications across apprenticeships, traineeships, certificates, diplomas, and advanced diplomas, leading you to a great career or create a pathway to University. From Geelong, Victoria, around Australia and overseas, thousands choose to study with us each year via flexible options, including on-campus, full and part-time, off-campus, online, and in the workplace. Gordon also embraces the partnership model working with secondary schools, Deakin University, employers, and the community in programs that deliver real benefits. We are also forging strong international strategic partnerships, particularly in China and Indonesia. Gordon has four campuses. Two are located in Geelong, the largest regional city in Victoria. The gateway to the Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast, and Otways regions means you can enjoy a fantastic lifestyle while studying or working. We also have one campus in Werribee and a smaller trades campus in Hoppers Crossing. The Gordon grew out of the need for technical training in the brave new world of the 1800s industrial age. Gordon has become the embodiment of quality vocational education and training in Geelong and beyond from its origins as a mechanics institute and a night school for tradespeople. During the late 1800s, Geelong's increasing importance as an industrial center and a worrying overseas trend showing Britain was losing its traditional markets to the United States, and Europe spurred leading Geelong citizens to campaign for more effective technical training. However, it was another overseas event that hastened The Gordon's development. Since opening in 1887, Gordon has developed into an institution operating across four campuses in a single-storied hall and operating mainly night classes for tradespeople. In 2017 The Gordon celebrated 130 years of its proud history of leading education in the Geelong region. View full university

  6. Founded in 2000, we are the University of Pretoria's internationally accredited business school, based in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa's economic hub. The school is named after Sir Donald Gordon, recognizing his contribution to South African business and a significant endowment to GIBS. In May 2017, the annual UK Financial Times Executive Education rankings, a global benchmark for executive education providers, ranked us as the top South African and African business school. This is the 14th year running that we have been ranked among the top business schools worldwide. In October 2017, our MBA was ranked among the top 100 business schools globally in the prestigious Financial Times Executive MBA Rankings. We are the only business school in Africa to appear in this ranking. At GIBS, we believe in business. We believe passionately that business can, and should be, a force for good, a force for positive change, and a force for our country and continent's economic development so desperately needs. We believe that business should work closely together and co-operatively with government and civil society to create a better, more equal South Africa, of which we can all be proud. While we are firmly rooted in a university system, we are, as an organization, philosophically close to the business, and this is enacted in everything we do. Building management and leadership capability sit at the heart of any business school. While this is our primary focus, we believe that we play a crucial part in ensuring business executives can develop a broader view and constructively engage with government, labor, and civil society – both locally and internationally. We enable the building of competitive institutions to generate the growth that the country needs responsibly.

View full university

  12. View full university
