About Me

  1. Surrounded by a green environment, Tsukuba Gakuin University is located in the center of Tsukuba Science City--which is at the forefront of Japanese science and technology--and is 45 minutes from Tokyo on the Tsukuba Express. In order to cultivate independent human resources equipped with KVA spirit, Knowledge, Virtue, and Art ̶ which were the philosophy of the founder of Tokyo Kasei Gakuin University, Mrs. Sumi Oe ̶ our education fosters the willingness to contribute to society by acquiring the management and IT skills needed for the globalization of the future. There are four courses in the business and informatics department ̶ Business Management, Global Communications, Media Design, and Information Design ̶. Beyond the walls of these four courses, you can freely choose from among 150 other specialized foundation courses to acquire a broad range of knowledge and education. There are special international courses for international students to learn the Japanese language, and there are courses for international students in the university departments. The employment support staff is on call and always available to consult with students. The staff provides help with filling in applications and writing resumes, guidance for interviews, and companies' information. In the Career Design Course beginning in the freshman year, students develop communication skills and acquire the aptitude for self-analysis, research companies, local governments, and industries. Consultants provide guidance. In addition to academics, there are many activities, such as clubs, circles, overseas training, internships, and the like. Be sure to make the most of your campus life. The staff members in charge of international students at the International Exchange Center provide consultation on studies, daily life, and career assistance. There are also systems for second-year and third-year admissions. Also, "tuition fee exemptions" and "Let's Live in Tsukuba Scholarships" are available for those who move to Tsukuba. We conduct educational research as a university cooperating with the local community. Through the "Make Tsukuba City the Campus" Off-Campus Program (OCP) activities, students implement field activities off-campus at companies and local governments in the community, leading to discovering and solving problems in the community. Eight units are required. In terms of education and research, we are researching cooperation with the community, including an experimental study with Segways in cooperation with Tsukuba City tourism business hospitality and airport research image processing research on famous places in Tsukuba City Tsukuba Creative Laboratories, and the like. Besides, for citizens, we offer community college courses, eighty language and culture liberal arts courses for the intellectual curiosity of citizens, developing their love of learning, and encouraging lifelong education. Students can attend free of charge. Five hundred students, including 80 international students, are now studying under 28 professors /assistant professors with over 50 part-time lecturers. We accept international students to the Japanese-taught programs once a year, in April. An on-campus exam and interview (conducted primarily in Japanese) are held in November for admission. Applicants are also required to obtain the certificate of Japanese Language certificate. Various types of scholarships and financial aid are available for International students. According to a year-end survey of the senior class, including international students, 92 percent of the graduates had secured employment with a variety of local entities dealing in such areas as information technology, software development, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, financial services, and general trading companies, to list just some. The top employers for the graduates of Tsukuba Gakuin University during the past three years have been the Tsukuba City Hall, Toyota Motors East Japan Inc., the Self Defense Agency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Joyo Bank Ltd., Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, NTT Systems, and ANA Airport Services Co., Ltd. Over the last four years, the students have out-performed their collegiate counterparts in acceptance rates to graduate schools attached to national universities such as Tokyo University, the University of Tsukuba, and Ibaraki University.
  2. Tohoku Gakuin was founded in 1886 as Sendai Theological Seminary by Masayoshi Oshikawa and William E. Hoy, a missionary. Today, 132 years later, based on Christian ideals and ensuring academic freedom, Tohoku Gakuin University (TGU) aims to provide its students with an environment that allows them to pursue the truth and develop to their full potential. The world today is changing dramatically socially, politically, economically, and in other areas as well. Our mission is to send forth graduates who have a global perspective, individuals who are responsible and can make decisions and act upon them. To this end, TGU is committed to nurturing each student's character while also providing the education necessary so that they can integrate the knowledge of their discipline and interface with others. TGU has six faculties, and a graduate school from the humanities and social sciences to engineering and is the largest private university in the Tohoku and Hokkaido area. Since its foundation, TGU has been a place where people from different nations and cultures have come to study together, facilitating and contributing to the increased understanding of each culture represented. It is a tradition we are proud to continue. In order to increase understanding of our institution, in 2009, Tohoku Gakuin University announced the following "three-part plan" which outlines: The principles underlying the type of students we seek to graduate The educational programs employed to this end The types of students we seek to attract. TGU seeks graduate students with a Bachelor of Art's degree based on the following guiding principles. Students are expected to abide by these principles to pursue their degree via the prescribed academic curriculum. To live a good life, students should be aware of the ideas of those who came before them, particularly the word of the Bible and its relevance to modern society. Students should develop an awareness of the value of university education and the lifelong pursuit of knowledge. The fundamental communication skills, logical argumentation, information, and mathematical literacy constitute the foundation of such a pursuit. Students should gain a systematic understanding of essential knowledge and the critical lines of reasoning specific to their major of study. Students should develop a view of the world, and the self about history, society, and the natural order. They should also approach the specialized knowledge and reasoning patterns gained in their major field of study from a broad-minded perspective. Students should strive to apply the knowledge, skills, and temperament gained as a result of their academic endeavors in a holistic fashion to the identification and resolution of various issues. While studying at Tohoku Gakuin University (TGU), students may choose to participate in any of the numerous extra-curricular cultural and athletic activities, which play a vital developmental role in the lives of TGU students. Various events are planned and carried out by student groups, including the annual university festivals held on each campus. Every year, additional culture clubs, sports clubs, and circles are founded in response to students' growing interests.
  3. Shizuoka Eiwa Gakuin University was founded in 1887 by Canadian missionaries. In 1966, the junior college was first opened, and then, in 2002, the university was established. As such, Eiwa has a long tradition in education based on Christian values. We are tremendously proud of our graduates, many of whom have contributed to regional development. With Christianity as its cornerstone, our approach to education and study is grounded in the spirit of “Love and Service.” To respect each other is nothing but “the practice of love” as in our scripture, “a faith that includes the practice of love is most important.” It is also to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” I would be grateful if you could deepen your learning in various academic fields to create a sustainable society. Please be aware that you are loved and serve others with your deepest love in that learning process. At Eiwa, you will meet people who will become your friends for life and find real enrichment. It is my wish that all of Eiwa’s students open up the future of a convivial society. With a school philosophy of “Love and Service” based on a spirit of Christianity, Eiwa nurtures its students to develop into people with a rich international perspective who contribute to the local community and humankind. Eiwa offers a variety of learning facilities in the heart of nature representative of Japan, such as Mt. Fuji, where one can fully savor the beauty of the four seasons. The new school building was completed in 2009. The campus features a library with a storage capacity of 108,000 books and 219 reading seats, a computer center, language laboratory (LL), worship center, volunteer center, Overseas Student Center, multipurpose athletics field, Interdisciplinary Mind Research Center, a gymnasium, and so on.
  4. Shokei Gakuin, since its establishment in 1892, has been devoted to educating people who can refine their inner self and walk together with others, based on the spirit of Christianity. Along with this principle, Shokei Gakuin University strives to encourage its students to develop a well-balanced character composed of empathy and the power to take action, along with academic and professional skills. With our beautiful campus and warm, friendly faculty and staff, Shokei Gakuin University endeavors to offer the best support to help students' dreams come true. Shokei Gakuin University is located in Natori City, a suburb south of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Sendai is the second-largest city in Northern Japan. The campus is in a natural setting on a hill that overlooks Sendai City, the Pacific Ocean, and the Zao mountain range. Shokei Gakuin University has the Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences consisting of six Departments: Dept. of Culture and Communication Activities, Dept. of Human Psychology, Dept. for the Scientific Study of Children, Dept. for the Study of Contemporary Society, Dept. of Life Environment Studies, and Dept. of Human Health and Nutrition. Shokei Gakuin University also has the Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences. To study the human mind and spirit gives one the power to change the future. At Shokei Gakuin University, we believe that most of the problems confronting society today are rooted in the human mind and spirit. By examining these worlds, we will discover clues that will lead us to a deeper understanding of our "problem society". We investigate the human mind /spirit and the human body to bring back vital humanity. Our Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences is a place to study how to develop new possibilities for humankind and live life to its fullest. In the Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences, the human being is seen as an integration of mind and body. To bring back the humanity the present-day society seems to be slowly taking away from us, we must have healthy minds and bodies. With this in mind, the Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences applies scientific methods to uncover how human beings might live in our world. In keeping with our efforts to develop dedicated internationally-minded citizens who can contribute to the global society of the 21st century, we are seeking applicants who have a particular interest in the cultures and traditions of Japan and other nations and who have clear goals and healthy academic initiatives and abilities. In order to confirm the applicant's adaptability to academic requirements at Shokei, we ask that the applicant submits his/her scores from department-specified subjects on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU). Additionally, we will use a short essay and interview to make a comprehensive assessment of the applicant's academic goals, enthusiasm for learning, and compatibility with Shokei University requirements. In the current age of lifelong learning, an increasing number of working adults show interest in college education. We are looking for applicants whose workforce experience has led them to seek further education and whose drive and ability make it possible to do so at our school. We seek applicants with exceptional athletic ability and leadership qualities, who have been recommended by the principal of their high school, and who show clear goals and healthy academic initiative and ability.
  5. In 2016 Seinan Gakuin celebrated its 100th Anniversary with a renewed commitment to endeavor to be faithful to Christ in the pursuit of truth in academic affairs and excellence in character development, striving to equip and nurture students who will be able to serve as creative and constructive leaders in local communities and global society. As you prepare for or continue your university education, the whole world lies before you. Since we live in a world that is rapidly becoming a community without borders, the opportunities which lie before us are almost limitless. The world community continues to become more and more interconnected socially, economically, and politically. Decisions or events in one country rapidly ripple across the globe, making an impact on every nation. At the same time, differences between people, cultures, and countries are being magnified. Rather than allowing differences to become walls of separation, there is a need for building bridges of understanding and cooperation. Seinan Gakuin University provides the opportunity for young people to respond to the challenges of our world. Our highly trained faculty is committed to providing a high level of education, helping our students understand the world, and preparing them to find a place in the world. The faculty is also committed to a high level of academic research and scholarship. Having published in a wide range of academic journals, professors implement their research in both teachings and contribute to the local and international communities. Our International Division is one of the oldest exchange programs in Japan. Reaching around the globe, we have exchange programs with universities in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, France, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Iceland, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Romania, Russia, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand —and the list continues to grow. The curriculum of the program includes classes in Japanese language, culture, and society. Participants from around the world learn about Japan together and have opportunities to learn about different ways of life and different cultures from each other, inside and outside the classroom. Because of the importance of personal communication between students and professors, first and second-year students are assigned to an extracurricular class supervised by a professor; thus, each student can get individual guidance. Discussion-based classes with relatively few students are available not only for foreign language and Christian Studies courses but also for specialized courses. All students in their junior and senior years can enroll in a seminar and thus experience a small-group setting the culmination of their four years of study.
  6. Otemon Gakuin University was founded in 1966. The history of Otemon Gakuin dates back further to 1888, with the opening of the first private elementary school in western Japan, attached to Osaka Kaikosha. Since then, we grew into a comprehensive educational network that extends from nursery school to graduate school. From nursery school to graduate school, all of our institutions aim to foster society's leaders with a focus on education of the mind, under the common educational principles of "Independence and Self-Reliance." In the context of today's globalized society, we endeavor to develop individuals who can contribute to the world. Otemon Gakuin University is promoting various reforms in recent years. Applicant numbers, which have increased for six successive years since 2013, are a testament to our efforts. Preparations are also underway for a new campus scheduled to open in April 2019. Far from being content with the status quo, however, we need to revisit our origins and ask ourselves: Who is the university? The university is all for the students. I aspire to work with our faculty and administration staff to create a "new university." Today's role is to nurture students into full-fledged members of society and send them off to the real world. To this end, career education should be a pillar of academic instruction. At Otemon Gakuin University, this means basic educational programs must provide students with a solid foundation for proceeding to specialized programs. The teaching staff is responsible for drawing out new students' full potential and enabling them to bloom, whether in their chosen career path or graduate school. Educational reforms are a means of fulfilling this responsibility. Our sights are set on becoming a new, attractive university and establishing a new educational structure before opening the new campus. Otemon Gakuin is a comprehensive educational foundation that extends from nursery school through graduate school. We strive to instill in our students the following five specific traits. A democratic sensibility with a strong identity and respect for others, demonstrated by moderate behavior, with the courage to counter any violence that threatens the order and peace in society. A sharp and healthy sensitivity to aesthetic and ethical values, with a genuinely liberated spirit, strong will, and a sense of responsibility. A well-rounded mind, capable of complex thought and contributing to the development of the humanities, the social, natural, and other sciences. In-depth knowledge of Japanese history, culture, and arts, insights into the Japanese language, and the ability to use language to communicate effectively. An international viewpoint, social conscience, and practical ability to contribute to the human race's prosperity. The library holds 520,000 books, which includes textbooks, topical new publications and magazines, and audio-visual materials. It also is equipped with AV booths and study rooms. Reading on the terrace is also possible on sunny days. English Cafe at Otemon (E-CO) is a social learning space and self-access center established in April 2013 as a collaboration between Otemon Gakuin University and Kanda University of International Studies.
  7. Founder Taneo Shirai stated that Osaka Gakuin University should, through education and research, seek to develop individuals of both practical ability and broad vision, who can serve society at large and contribute to the peace and welfare of humankind, Osaka Gakuin University's history began in 1940 with the establishment of Kansai Accounting Institute, the forerunner of Kansai College of Accounting, now the oldest professional accounting school in Osaka. This institution has since developed into a full-scale general educational foundation comprising Osaka Gakuin University Graduate School, covering six disciplines (Graduate Schools of Commerce, Economics, International Studies, Law, Computer Science and Legal Profession(Law School)) Osaka Gakuin University, with eight faculties (Faculties of Distribution and Communication Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Economics, Law, Foreign Languages, International Studies, Informatics, and Corporate Intelligence), the Division of Correspondence Study (Faculty of Distribution and Communication Sciences, Department of Distribution and Communication Sciences), Osaka Gakuin Junior College with two departments (Departments of Business Administration and International Studies), Osaka Gakuin University High School and AST College. Osaka Gakuin University Organization continues its advance, always with a view toward the times' ongoing developments. It is now possible to instantaneously learn of events occurring almost anywhere on earth. Thus we have learned that many of the phenomena around the world do not necessarily occur independently from each other, but maybe inter-related, may influence each other internationally or in an interdisciplinary way. The expansion of IT (information technology) networks has ushered in an age of genuinely international exchange in terms of both scale and function, in which information can be shared on a global scale by individuals, bypassing nations and businesses. It is now possible for anyone to interact casually with all the rest of the world in our society. This means that, depending on ability, personality, and other factors, individuals have access to numerous opportunities that were unthinkable only a short time ago. In times like these, marked by increasingly active global communication and an expanding focus on individual competence, we believe that "individuals who have both practical ability and broad vision," as described in the founding principles of our University, are increasingly sought after. I also firmly believe that individuals of great practical ability and broad global vision, who are widely and profoundly cultured and dare to act, can offer excellent service to society by bringing about real affluence. In vigorously applying its founding principles, which emphasize the practical aspect of learning, Osaka Gakuin University seeks to enhance its educational system by continually broadening and deepening the scope of its academic endeavors, building a close network with universities around the world, and promoting practical education through overseas training. As we stay abreast of the times and what society now requires of education, Osaka Gakuin University's advanced educational technologies, augmented by its links with education and research-related networks, ensure the ideal environment and curriculum for students to explore their potential and develop their abilities to the fullest. Here, then, is your key to understanding, responding to, and leading the times.

    Poole Gakuin College

Poole Gakuin is a Christian organization supporting Poole Gakuin Junior and Senior High Schools, Poole Gakuin college, Poole Gakuin University, and Graduate School of Intercultural Studies. Its governing bodies are made up of Christian leaders, scholars, business people, and alumnae. Poole proceeds into the 21st century with its 135-year history of keeping the Christian spirit alive and healthy. In 1879, a school for girls was founded in Osaka by the Church Mission Society of the Anglican Church based on love and service ideals. Enveloped in the love of God, our campus has nourished the hearts and minds of young women, becoming a pioneer in girls’ education in Japan. The emphasis placed on freedom, cooperation, and self-reliance by the early founders of Poole Gakuin lives on in the Poole Gakuin college and the recently established co-educational University and Graduate School. In June of 2001, the newly built Eleanor chapel and Christian Center opened. Full and part-time chaplains staff the Christian Center and, in cooperation with the Christian Activities Committee, they are responsible for Christian life on the campus. A 15-minute chapel service is held daily, and students are encouraged to attend and to participate. The Christian Center organizes various activities, volunteer services, and fundraisers, including collecting charities at the Christmas chapel service. Poole Gakuin University Located in a residential area of Sakai in southern Osaka Prefecture, the ten-acre campus sits on a hill surrounded by a woodland public park. Facilities include classrooms fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, computer rooms, a library with 101,560 volumes, a gymnasium, athletic fields, a cafeteria, a student center, club offices, and a chapel. Poole has many clubs for students. In addition to the Chorus, the Asian Studies Club, and the Society for Overseas Studies, there are cultural clubs for students interested in art, jazz/folk music, cinema, Braille, outdoor activities, photography, kendo, judo, and other topics. Students who join sports clubs compete in badminton, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, skiing, and Korean karate. Most students commute from nearby communities. The campus is eight minutes by bus from Izumigaoka station on the Nankai/Senboku train line in southern Osaka Prefecture. Rooms are available in a nearby dormitory operated by the prefectural government. The “Center for Intercultural Exchange and Service” develops and coordinates all programs related to international or intercultural studies programs, exchanges, and volunteer projects, both domestic and foreign. Current programs involve study and exchange with Sungkonghoe University (Korea), Guangzhou Normal University (China), Kathmandu University (Nepal), Canon Slade School (Britain), to mention only a few. Other study abroad programs to the U.K., Canada, Australia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, and Indonesia are also available. Domestically, the center operates an outreach program for local public schools involving international students and students who have studied abroad. Thus, “intercultural studies” at Poole embraces study abroad and learning about cultural diversity and difference within all societies.
  9. Our University is founded on the Christian spirit “Fear God, Love People,” and our goal is ‘to foster our ambitions and global awareness and prepare leaders who will contribute to society.’ “Fear God” means to be humble before everything that exists around you and to learn humbly. Also, “Love People” means to love one another, but this has been an eternal task for the human race. However, if we start giving and keeping on giving, we can get even a little closer to the goal of love. ‘Learning’ and ‘giving’ is not that easy. However, within these difficulties lie hidden the seeds of growth. We have eight departments covering 11 subjects, each developing a unique, diverse pedagogy, and the University as a whole is dedicated to providing legal, international human resources, civil small-group classes, career training with a high employment rate, cutting-edge information sciences utilizing information and communication technologies, and nationally-renowned regional consortium programs. Here, you will gain specialized knowledge, abilities, and fundamental skills necessary to be a productive member of society. But the most important thing is to have the power to forge yourself a new path when you come upon a wall where the skills and knowledge you have learned will not help you. This elemental power can be gotten from “Learning” and “Giving” behind our University’s spirit. This power will set an excellent foundation for building a fruitful life. Many Fields of Knowledge and Individuals within an Advanced International Educational Environment to the World. We support acquiring various national licenses and other qualifications for higher education and valid licenses for the future. The number of applicants to Nagoya Gakuin University has increased steadily since its relocation to Nagoya campus in 2007. With a background of 50 years of tradition and regional confidence, our graduates have gone on to obtain employment in blue-chip companies in various fields.
  10. Meiji Gakuin University traces its origins to the Hepburn School, which was established in the Edo era's closing days. Over its history of more than 150 years, Meiji Gakuin University has supported Japan's globalization by playing a pioneering role in education. The four years you spend as a college undergraduate will be the most memorable time in your life. What awaits you after your experiences among the six faculties and 15 departments is your new self. Meiji Gakuin University places a strong emphasis on international education and exchanges. Meiji Gakuin University provides many opportunities to develop links to the world, through its overseas study program, as a place to understand the world through its political, economic, and cultural background, and as a place to consider the issues of the day through interactions with persons of many different nationalities. To come to know the world, you must come to know Japan and come to know yourself. If you are not confident of your language ability, this is your opportunity to discover a new self by exchanging experiences with others. No one knows what will happen in the world or what the future holds for oneself as an individual. This is why it is essential to use your four years of study as an undergraduate to develop the capacity to think (which is to say, to live). First, there is the door of curiosity: open it! What makes Meiji Gakuin University unique is the way that studying one thing can lead, via research and practice of various kinds, to all sorts of new possibilities that sometimes go beyond the scope of your faculty or department. The faculty consists of unique individuals who are ready to listen to your thoughts and doubts. Discover something new each day, and taste the joy of learning that comes from encountering yourself anew. Meiji Gakuin University aims to promote excellence in academics and athletics by actively supporting independent student activities related to sports and culture, resulting in a wide variety of active clubs and circles. The rugby club, the soccer club, and other sports clubs are part of the Project to Enhance Sports at Meiji Gakuin. Another example of the wide variety of activities that students can participate in is the dance circle Break Jam, which boasts having won the title of Best Dance Circle in Japan for both 2015 and 2017. The greatest pleasure of participation in clubs and circles is getting to know valued friends with whom one can share the joy and excitement of these activities. Based on its educational philosophy of "Do for Others," Meiji Gakuin University not only supports autonomous efforts by students through volunteering and other activities but also supports student life in a variety of ways, including note-taking, to address challenges in an increasingly diverse modern society. Standing by other people and getting to know them is the first step toward changing the world.
  11. Miyagi Gakuin Women's University has a history of over 130 years. It started as Miyagi Girls' School, founded by OSHIKAWA Masayoshi of the Church of Christ in Japan, with missionary William Edwin HOI's missionary. The Girls' School was expanded into a high school and chartered as a private university in 1949. Miyagi Gakuin today comprises a daycare preschool, junior high school, senior high school, university, and graduate school. Today, the university has four faculties (Faculty of Contemporary Business, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Human Life Sciences, Faculty of Arts) with nine departments, and two graduate schools (Research School in the Humanities, Research School in Health and Nutrition The total number of students is about 3,000, and the overall student to teacher ratio is between 25 to 30 students. Education at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University is based on the spirit of Evangelical Christianity, to educate women to fear God, to seek truth with both freedom and humility, to respect all people on the principle of loving all our neighbors, and to work for the better welfare of all humans and to contribute to world peace. The environment surrounding universities is becoming increasingly diverse and complicated. Accordingly, the social role of education and research is also becoming more critical. Miyagi Gakuin Women's University responds to these social needs through its education and research, conducted in line with the university's founding principles. We aim to educate members of society to have a broad understanding of both culture and society. The principles of freedom of education and research and the guarantee of self-determination for educators and researchers must be maintained, but to maintain these principles, educators and researchers are required to maintain the highest standards of moral principles and conduct in their work. We at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University will do everything possible to gain society's trust and respect through our education and research. There are many student activity circles at MGU, catering to a wide variety of people. There are 20 sports circles, 19 circles for cultural activities, and nine circles which either do non-competitive sports or hobbies. MGU also has a Liaison Action Center (MG-LAC) to promote, coordinate, and provide appropriate student volunteer support. MGU was first among the universities in Sendai to set up such an office after the tsunami and earthquake of March 2011. MG-LAC provides interested students with the opportunity to identify problems in the society around them and to discover productive ways of helping other people find solutions to these problems. University faculty and staff provide advice and guidance as needed. MG-LAC plays a vital role in the university's commitment to training students who can play an active and leading role in building local society. MGU welcomes young women who want to study in the vocational and liberal arts courses that we offer to develop their careers and further their personal development. To qualify for admission as international students, applicants must have completed a total of 12 years of school education, be of non-Japanese citizenship, and be 18 years or older by 31st March of the year of entry into university. Applicants whose first language is not English must have studied English as a foreign language during high school.
  12. Kwansei Gakuin is one of Japan's most prestigious private schools, dating back to 1889, founded in Kobe by the American missionary Reverend Walter Russell Lambuth, M.D. It is now a comprehensive and integrated educational institution spread across six campuses: Nishinomiya Uegahara, Nishinomiya Seiwa, Kobe Sanda, Osaka Umeda, Tokyo Marunouchi, and Takarazuka. Kwansei Gakuin is relatively large learning and research community with 27,000 students from kindergarten through undergraduate and graduate levels and an International School (K-12), spread over seven campuses—two in Nishinomiya with Sanda, Takarazuka, Senri, Osaka, and Tokyo. When the parents and guardians of those students and our more than 200,000 alumni are included, that community extends throughout the world. At the time of its founding 127 years ago, Kwansei Gakuin had just 19 students. Nonetheless, the school conceived by Walter R. Lambuth, the missionary who served as Kwansei's first chancellor, was a global one, just like today's Kwansei Gakuin. For him, it was not the institution's size but rather the global perspective that shaped its essential studies. He returned to the United States two years after founding the school and subsequently worked in locations including South America, Europe, Africa, and Siberia, earning the description on a monument in Mississippi that memorializes him as a "World Citizen and Christian Apostle too many lands." All schools of Kwansei strive to endow their students with an awareness of being part of the larger world. When he created the school motto of "Mastery for Service," C.J.L. Bates, the school's fourth chancellor, wrote of his wish to "render some useful service to humanity in order that the world may be better for our having lived in it" (C.J.L. Bates, Mastery for Service, 1915). Everyone connected by Kwansei Gakuin is an essential member of a united community in its dedication to making the world better. We hope that we will be able to achieve a better society that expresses humankind's uniqueness and excellence. We are Kwansei! Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) is an independent institution for higher education, offering Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in over 35 different disciplines to about 24,500, including approximately 800 international students. The University maintains academic standards that rank among the highest of all Japanese universities and colleges. Our school motto, "Mastery for Service," is based on the institution's founding principles. After introducing this motto in his statement, he said, "We do not desire to be weaklings. We aim to be strong, to be masters," urging his students to be vital for their self-culture and to train themselves to be healthy not only for their own sake but also for all humanity. One thing you should do is to become aware of what the problems are. To determine the presence of problems in a particular event, you should have your standards. In other words, you should have your view of the world. Learning at University prepares you to form your view of the world. Another important thing you should do is master the basics that will enable you to keep learning even after graduation. Rapid changes are taking place in the world, and what you learn at University soon becomes obsolete. It would help if you always tried to continue acquiring new knowledge and information. To that end, it is essential for you to acquire scientific thinking skills—thinking skills to conclude by making scientific investigations in your field of specialization. In the 21st century, the so-called "soft power" created by information, knowledge, and wisdom has come to have great value for the progress of humankind. We are entering an age in which there will be ever-increasing demands for sophisticated intelligence if society continues to develop. The role that higher education and research organizations like Kwansei Gakuin play will become critically important. We see it as our sublime mission and social obligation to train young people and send them out into the world, equipped with sufficient capabilities to carry the progress of the 21st century. We believe that we can achieve our mission and contribute to realizing a spiritually prosperous society by vigorously promoting world citizens' education who embody our school motto, "Mastery for Service." To meet these aims, we will strive to educate young people who commit themselves unceasingly to academic endeavors during their time with us and go on to put the knowledge they have acquired to fair use after graduation. We will achieve these goals based on the cornerstones of the philosophy and traditions that Kwansei Gakuin has cultivated over the years while maintaining our determination to take on new challenges.
  13. Kobe Gakuin University was established in 1966 with Shigeki Mori as the first President. It initially offered a single course of study with 100 students in the Faculty of Nutrition, founded on the philosophy of "shine-aikokosei-poncho" (love of truth and respect for individuality). Today, 50 years later, the University has expanded to become the largest private University in Kobe City, with two distinctive campuses, ten faculties and seven graduate schools, and more than 11,000 students. About 80,000 students have graduated from the University of completed graduate school courses. This charter is implemented in order to achieve consistent development and improvement of Kobe Gakuin University. Every one of us at this moment vows to uphold it with integrity and responsibility. "Shinra-Aiko Kosei-poncho" ( love of truth and respect for individuality)Through learning and the pursuit of knowledge, we aim to experience the joy that comes with acquiring the wisdom offered by universal academic systems and to discover the individualities of ourselves and others and develop respect for both in the process. In 2012, Kobe Gakuin Educational Foundation celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding. In 2016, the University marked the 50th anniversary of its founding. Reflecting our belief that the timing of these 100 years and 50 year anniversaries provides us with an excellent opportunity for Kobe Gakuin University to transform itself, we announced the Kobe Gakuin 100-Year Declaration. We carried out a mid-term action plan for over five years. During AY2018, we will develop a second mid-term action plan and transition to implementing that new five-year plan. Also, we took advantage of the 50th anniversary of the University's founding to announce a vision for its next 50 years. That vision articulates the issues that the University needs to address, and we have begun to do so in a steady manner. As part of that effort, the Faculty of Psychology, which will offer a curriculum designed to prepare students to earn Japan's new certified psychologist qualification, will start accepting students on Arise Campus as the University's 10th undergraduate faculty. We will also start to offer credits under our inter-professional education (IPE) program, a workshop-based offering where students of the four faculties and six departments related to medicine, health, and social welfare learn about the requirements (and qualifications) of each other's disciplines to facilitate collaboration. Going forward, we believe it must be the mission of Kobe Gakuin University to offer an education based on its founding philosophy so that students can experience their growth and go forth into society with a sense of self-confidence, and to provide a range of support so that all students can achieve their dreams and goals. We must also strive to become an institution that will continue to operate into the indefinite future, prized for its essential role in society, by enhancing our education, research, and social outreach programs. Our goals for Kobe Gakuin University: To allow people to achieve their full potential. To create people with the aptitude and vitality to be leaders in the community. To create and disseminate knowledge. To evolve together with the people and industries of our local communities. To study the very nature of education and further respect for human rights. Our primary education principles: To provide lifelong education as a foundation on which people can build themselves. To provide education through which people can attain a high level of expertise at any stage in their lives. To provide education with a global perspective that meets the ever-diversifying needs of the community.
  14. Kinjo Gakuin was founded in 1889 as a women's private school by an American Presbyterian missionary named Mrs. Annie Edgar Randolph. The Japanese word "Kinjo" means "Golden Castle," and our founder, Mrs. Randolph, named our school. Golden Castle Women's School has developed over a century into an educational complex consisting of a university, a senior high school, a junior high school, and a kindergarten. It holds approximately 7,500 students and about 400 teachers and administrative staff at present. Kinjo Gakuin University is located in Omori, a suburban area of Nagoya, which has a population of 2.2 million people. Our campus is safe, spacious, wooded, and blessed with the beauties of nature, including ponds and wetlands of over 270,000 square meters. At the center of the campus, we have a beautiful chapel called Ela Houston Memorial Chapel. The protestant morning service occurs every day for 15 minutes just before the class begins. The service is carried out in Japanese and, occasionally, English. Participants include students, teachers, and administrative staff. Everyone enjoys worship led by pastors or chaplains and beautiful hymns played by pipe organists who are also university students and teachers. Kinjo Gakuin University provides higher education for women based on the spirit of Protestantism. The idea that scholarship is wasted on girls persists even in modern Japanese society. However, Mrs. Randolph refused to believe this, committing herself to educate the young women of Nagoya in a way rooted in the teachings of the Bible. She taught that women's rights and responsibilities—their inherent power, in other words—must be fully expressed in the outside world and that women must also do their part to promote world peace. Kinjo Gakuin University was eventually founded in 1949, just after World War II. It began with a single department (the College of English Literature), gradually expanding its depth and reach (of note was the addition of the College of Pharmacy, Kinjo's first college of science, in 2005) to become what is today the only fully-fledged university for women in the Tokai region. Through it all, the university has always maintained a steadfast dedication to its founding principles. Education at Kinjo Gakuin University is based on Biblical teachings and is designed to balance both sound character and profound scholarship. Our greatest wish is that our graduates will come to be seen as "the salt of the earth" and "lights in the world" for the 21st century. For this reason, we have adopted Proverbs 1:7 as our school motto: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." The slogan represents a simple way to understand our school's founding spirit and our overall approach to education. Underlying it is the idea of educating women based on evangelical Christian principles. Through the learning process, we can become more broadly cultured, gain highly specialized knowledge, develop precision skills, and more. These are the qualities that give us tremendous power out in the world. This is what it means to "be strong." Simultaneously, if we do not have a sympathetic and kind heart towards others, we cannot be a part of the world. This is what it means to "be kind." A Christian education makes it possible to learn and develop in a way that combines both of these principles. Christianity teaches us to be humble in the presence of God and to rid ourselves of human pride. The motto of Kinjo Gakuin University is taken from Proverbs 1:7, which states that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." We must kneel before God, place our faith in Him, and strive to live every stage of our lives by His will. This, the verse tells us, is a life of knowledge and wisdom. Another defining feature of our school is its forested campus surrounded by lush greenery. Studying or talking with professors and friends in this natural environment makes students aware of the need to protect and live in harmony with the earth. Environmental concerns cannot be pushed aside in any discussion of Japan's future and the rest of the world. This makes Kinjo Gakuin University an ideal space for learning. In 2018 we celebrated our 129th year as an educational institution and our 69th year as a university. Backed by this longstanding tradition, Kinjo Gakuin University will continue to pursue women's excellent education, rooted in a Christian spirit.
  15. Hiroshima Kokusai Gakuin University offers student-centered, sensitive, and thorough Education based on our university's founding spirit, 'Education is love' and the educational concept of 'Gentleness, honesty, co-operation, and teamwork.' Our university focuses on contributing to local communities and aims to cultivate students' talent, who mainly find employment with local companies, and are employed as officers and teachers locally, after going through our educational program. A unique feature of our university is that students can study a wide range of subjects and satisfy many intellectual curiosities by undertaking courses, combinations of subjects drawn from the faculties of arts and sciences. This approach corresponds well with the recently emerging issues of globalization, information society, and an aging society. We respect gentleness, honesty, co-operation, and teamwork among our students in an educational system that we call 'Integral Education involving Study with the Whole Body.' Also, customized teaching arrangements for building various capacities and for obtaining licenses are provided. Another unique characteristic of this university life is that every student can enjoy a 'Bright and Fun-filled Joyous College Life.' Toradora Tsuru, the founder of our institute. What drove the founder to dedicate himself to Education appears to have been his profound caring and willingness to give everything he owned to the youth deprived of educational opportunities due to economic, physical, and various other reasons. It was this characteristic that helped his students. He made every effort for those who were poverty-stricken and never gave up on the young who gave in to temptation. The founder's statue was erected in 1965 and had an inscription that reads "Education is Love." Those who carried on the founder's wishes later described the essence of his educational spirit in this message. The founder never publicly announced "Education is Love," but yet, he was the one who put "Education is Love" into practice. Our university's founding spirit, "Education is Love," was therefore created by the founder's educational practice, "Love can never exist without practicing it." This is a message with deep significance. Our institute's mission is to carry on the founder's spirit, faithfully.
  16. Bunkyo Gakuin University is part of Bunkyo Gakuen, an educational institution founded in 1924. Today Bunkyo Gakuen is comprised of a full range of educational institutions, including graduate school, University, junior college, vocational college, high school, junior high school, and kindergarten. For more than 80 years, Bunkyo Gakuen has emphasized and concentrated on practical education under a principle of education that encourages independence and co-existence. The University currently has over 4000 students enrolled in the undergraduate program who study within nine separate Departments. Bunkyo Gakuin University has sensed the need for continuous change and is taking on new challenges. Developing our International exchange program is another aspect of our mission. We are expanding our connections with the international universities we cooperate with as part of our exchange program. We are currently accepting exchange students from countries like the United States, Canada, China, and Malaysia. On our campuses, Japanese and International students engage freely and enthusiastically in exchange. These students are aware of cultural diversity and the importance of "co-existence" who are journeying to the various corners of the globe to carry out our mission. Another point that we must not forget in the 21st century is the urgent need to ensure our "co-existence" with the natural world. In 2006, we established a course designed to nurture aspiring environmental experts in the Department of Co-existence Studies. This new system was established to assist in the acquisition of environment-related qualifications, and also it works in close partnership with the Faculty of Business Administration. This department enables students to learn about environmental issues using a multi-pronged approach. In terms of post-graduation employment opportunities, our school receives a high evaluation from the business community each year. We are strengthening our support system for post-graduation employment and enhancing the opportunities that we can provide for overseas internships. We currently provide students with opportunities to participate in the international community through internships in various locations and corporations overseas. Students majoring in Programs of Contents and Marketing in the Faculty of Business Administration have exhibited their work at the 2006 Tokyo International Anime Fair, the largest anime fair of its kind in the world. These students have attracted the attention of companies and businesses both in Japan and overseas. Moving forward from With these achievements in mind, we will concentrate our efforts on the nurturing of creators of computers contents who will go on to open up new horizons in new and exciting fields. Bunkyo Gakuin University provides a learning environment where a student can major in one specific area while sampling from multiple other related areas. As students open their minds to new learning opportunities, they will expand their horizons, build ties with other people, and provide themselves with the tools to open up their boundless hidden potential.
  17. Since its establishment in 1876 as a branch training center of Soto Zen Buddhism, Aichi Gakuin University (AGU) has produced graduates who can contribute to society. Over 130 years, it has been passing down the Buddhist spirit that emphasizes humanity. According to Zen teaching, our founding spirit is realized in the development of students' personality under the unity of learning and practice. This spirit also provides society with graduates capable of demonstrating gratitude towards all life in the world. Carrying forward this philosophy, AGU is about to turn a new page in its history. In 2013, the university will establish the Faculty of Economics. In 2014, Meijo Koen Campus will open a new campus in the center of Nagoya to offer students stimulating and inspiring academic experiences, promoting the synergy of partnerships between academia and industry. AGU is also engaged in enhancing and enriching the curriculum in all its departments. We will strive to provide more attractive learning opportunities in order to increase student motivation for learning. We will also do our utmost to support the self-realization of each student. We have always been committed to offering human education based on Zen teachings by engaging each student eye-to-eye in our effort to bring out their capabilities. As we enter into a new era, our sincere hope is that students will develop their full potential at AGU. The Philosophy of Aichi Gakuin: Unity of Learning and Practice: "Unity of Learning and Practice" refers to the teaching of Dogen Zenji, the founder of Soto Zen Buddhism, based on his own religious experience. The phrase means that practice (the formation of personality) and learning (the pursuit of truth) are not two different things but exist in unity. A Sense of Gratitude towards All Life in the World: Each one of us owes our life to our mutual interdependence with all other beings. In awareness of this debt and to repay it, we are obliged to devote ourselves to society. In light of this, AGU bases its education on the spirit of a sense of gratitude towards all life in the world. Being one of the largest universities in the Chubu area, Aichi Gakuin University has several schools and programs that cater to various learning needs. The Research Centers and Institutes represent the best of AGU's academic offerings. They pride themselves on their range of research achievements? from commissioned projects and research to joint studies, regional studies, and independent studies? The fruits of which are given back to society through public lectures, symposia, and various publications. In this time of rapid globalization, and ability in foreign languages to effectively communicate with people around the world and an in-depth understanding of other cultures are becoming all the more critical. In this light, AGU places a particular emphasis on education in English and other foreign languages and offers various international programs to develop in students a global perspective. We also engage in the cross-border exchange of teaching staff, international joint research projects, and other academic exchange modes.
  18. Momoyama Gakuin University was founded in 1959. Nearly 7,000 undergraduate students study at the Faculties of Economics, Sociology, Management, International Studies and Liberal Arts, and Law. Momoyama Gakuin University, which is just one part of the educational foundation known collectively as Momoyama Gakuin, has its roots in the Christian evangelizing activity begun in Japan in 1869 by the Church Missionary Society of England. The Rev. C. F. Warren and other missionaries who arrived in Japan in 1873 strongly felt the importance of education for the future of Japan, and in 1884 opened a school for boys in one of the Holy Trinity Church rooms, Osaka. Ever since, despite the tumultuous events of the past several decades, the Christian ethos that cherishes love and freedom has been sustained by Momoyama Gakuin, and it flourishes today on the campus of Momoyama Gakuin University. Our educational principle is "Fostering Citizens of the World Based on Christian Humanities," and our vision is "Supporting people in the region and the world." We are educating students to adjust themselves to any community and support local people within Japan and abroad. We provide a variety of experience-oriented programs both inside and outside of Japan. Many students participate in overseas programs, from language courses to volunteer programs to business internships, thus experiencing different cultures. Moreover, about 100 international students from over 20 countries and areas join our university every year. Global society is a society that various individuals can live together. We hope that students learn to cooperate with people of different backgrounds such as race, religion, and culture, while they acquire the power of knowledge and enthusiasm to clear the path of lives. At Momoyama Gakuin University, make new friends, broaden your mind, and enrich your world. While becoming an independent and free human being, respect the individuality and human dignity of others. Think of yourself as a member of human society, setting aside all barriers of race and nationality. In other words, seek to become a "Citizen of the World". Momoyama Gakuin University's educational philosophy fosters people who can genuinely call themselves "Citizens of the World".
  19. Aoyama Gakuin has as its aim education based upon the Christian faith and its purpose: the building up of persons who live in sincerity before God, who seek truth with humility, and who actively take responsibility for all people society in a spirit of love and service. Aoyama Gakuin University is an educational and research institution based on the Educational Policy of Aoyama Gakuin, which is to serve God and persons, contributing to society as the Salt of the Earth and Light of the World. Our institution nurtures persons who, with a sound understanding based on global perspectives, possess the wisdom and strength to discover and solve issues personally. This is achieved through a wide range of barrier-free academic research that pursues service and commitment to humanity. Jesus Christ spoke of "the salt of the earth" and "the light of the world," but this was a proclamation rather than an exhortation. Aoyama Gakuin has founded based on the proclamation that your life is of inestimable value. The Salt of the Earth: Salt adds taste, prevents spoilage, and is used for purification. The human body needs a 0.7% concentration of salt, and we must consume 10–15 grams a day to live. This school will continue to produce individuals who strive to contribute significantly to society, resist corruption, and purify its degradation with creativity and humility. Light provides brightness and warmth. Light leads people like a guiding light at a lighthouse, and it also disinfects and nourishes. Similarly, this school will forthrightly endeavor to create a robust and energetic society, igniting the spark of hope. In contrast to its literal meanings, earth and world stand for "a world without God" and "the loss of human dignity." Hence, as the individuals who make up Aoyama Gakuin, we are blessed by God as "Salt" and "Light," and we will strive to fulfill our purpose. Aoyama Gakuin University, a distinct cultural ambiance, was founded as a university in 1949, with Aoyama Gakuin as its parent organization. In turn, Aoyama Gakuin has three schools founded in 1874 by missionaries sent by the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States as its origin. Today, having ten departments and 12 graduate courses, Aoyama Gakuin University is one of the public universities that play a leading role among Japanese universities. As the 18th president of Aoyama Gakuin University, I want to do my utmost to reform the institution to increase further the esteem in which society holds it, cooperating with the teaching staff over the next four years. For this and other reasons, I would like to further enrich the function of Aoyama Gakuin University as a place for scholarship and research. Scholarship and research at the University is a world in which prevailing views are doubted, and there is more than just one correct answer. However, as one finds something resembling an answer, he also recognizes the existence of a world previously unknown to him. The more one researches, the more one becomes aware of the existence of unknown worlds. This is what researchers at the University reveal to us, and that is why I believe research is challenging and exciting. If teachers can vividly convey such aspects of research work to students, I expect them to get enthusiastic about it. Encountering such teachers would cause a student to make great strides. That is because the students of Aoyama Gakuin have great potential, which is why we are considering the question of what kind of systemic reform is desirable at the University from various angles. There are many issues to be addressed. Specifically, these include accepting many international students and filling the campus with international character while also using the English language tradition of Aoyama to conduct advanced language education so that many Aoyama University students can study abroad. They also include further enriching the internship system within Japan, institutionalizing volunteer activities, and diversifying research seminars. I want to ambitiously tackle these issues and make the university brim with intellectual stimulation. Within this ambiance, the students of Aoyama Gakuin will recognize their abilities, acquire a superior specialization, and become aware of their roles within Japan and the international community, thus playing active roles as leaders who are kind to others. I want Aoyama Gakuin University to be an institution that produces many such students. In 1874, Dora E. Schoonmaker, a missionary sent to Japan by the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States, founded the Girls' Elementary School, one of the three original schools of Aoyama Gakuin. In 1878, Julius Soper founded the Kokyo Gakusha Boys' School, and Robert S. Maclay founded the Methodist Mission Seminary in 1879. These three schools evolved into the present-day Aoyama Gakuin. In 1883, the Methodist Mission Seminary and Tokyo English School merged to become the Tokyo Anglo-Japanese College, and then in 1894, the Tokyo. Anglo-Japanese College was renamed Aoyama Gakuin. In 1927, Aoyama Gakuin and Aoyama Jogakuin merged. Aoyama Gakuin became an academy comprising about 3,000 students by adding students from Aoyama Jogakuin to the student body of its Theological School, senior high school, and junior high school. In 1949, the establishment of Aoyama Gakuin University was approved, and the University opened with the three colleges of literature, commerce, and engineering (Yokosuka Campus). The Faculty of Law was established in 1959, the College of Science and Engineering was established in Megurisawa, Setagaya Ward in 1965, and the School of Business was founded in 1966. In 1982, at the same time that the School of International Politics and Economics was founded, the freshmen and sophomores of the humanities departments and the freshmen of the College of Science and Engineering on the Setagaya Campus were transferred to the new campus established in Atsugi to enhance education at the University and expand its campus area. In 2003, Aoyama Gakuin closed the Atsugi and Setagaya campuses and opened the Sagamihara Campus, integrating the humanities and sciences. In 2008, the School of Cultural and Creative Studies and the School of Social Informatics were established, and the College of Education, Psychology, and Human Studies was established in 2009. In 2013, the school campuses of the seven colleges of humanities and social sciences were transferred to the Aoyama Campus. Since 2013, all undergraduate students spend their academic life at a single campus (Aoyama campus has seven faculties, and Sagamihara has two faculties). Our 10th faculty, the School of Global Studies and Collaboration, opened in April 2015 at the Sagamihara Campus.

  21. View full university

  23. 24. View full university
