      1. We are dedicated to promoting "Hospitality and Amenity." The university has been a vibrant hub for learning and inspiring research. Its contributions to local communities have been recognized based on its mission and goal of focusing on fostering human resources with a hospitality consciousness, an amenity sensitiveness, and a mix of highly specialized expertise and practical skills. These have enabled the school to lead in the region's development and play an active role in the world. We determined to follow their path and run the university by applying far-sighted measures to meet society's requests in this new era. Mission: "Hospitality" as consideration and compassion for fellow human beings. "Amenity" as nurturing healthy learning and living environments. MYU is dedicated to building a community of hospitality-conscious and amenity-sensitive people. At Miyagi University, we look forward to producing robust results to meet social needs as a university focused first and foremost on education. We will enhance our freshman-core courses - foundational education program - and other courses by reorganizing the institution to expand students' intellectual horizons. We will also be a leader in improving the university admission process. Goals: Education: We aim to graduate students who are equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Research: We aim to research to meet the evolving needs of society. Social Responsibility: We are dedicated to working as one with communities. Aims: We aim to be a university firmly rooted in the local community, but with our doors and networks open to all over the globe. We aim to contribute to our communities' academic, cultural, economic, health, and overall welfare. We aim to be a transparent institution an opens the door to the community. We aim to facilitate collaboration among researchers and students from around the world. The environment is a priority at Miyagi University. We believe that one's environment nurtures healthy minds, creative thought, and the ability to turn those thoughts into positive action; thus, our two campuses have been designed to meet this end. Within walking distance from the Miyagi Prefectural Public Library, Taiwan Campus is an aesthetic fusion of a wooded natural environment and sophisticated contemporary architecture. To the south is Taihaku Campus, which harmonizes the rural landscape with cutting-edge academic facilities. Both campuses are strategically located within urban center limits yet easily accessible to surrounding rural communities to ensure that students and staff are connected to urban and rural communities throughout Miyagi.
      2. The Miyagi University of Education is a teachers' college that has been educating teachers for more than 50 years. Besides having excellent pedagogical skills in their chosen fields, teachers need to possess the qualities required to appropriately consider the wide variety seen in students' academic abilities, behavioral management, stances on various issues, and learning difficulties that appear in the classroom. To attain such traits, it is imperative to receive an education that develops one's qualities as a human: an education our university has provided for more than half a century. Professors at our university offer a warm, friendly atmosphere in their classes in which students feel comfortable participating actively in discussions about topics in which they are interested. It is through the discussions held between teacher and student that real learning can occur? Real learning that stays with students well after graduation. Many graduates mention these discussions as one of the primary reasons for their high-level skills when they are teachers in the classroom. Furthermore, many students are inspired by their studies through interactions among different majors and participating in overseas exchange programs and volunteer teaching experience abroad programs. At the Miyagi University of Education, we have three departments in the undergraduate school (elementary school education, secondary school education, and special needs education) in addition to a graduate school and in-service graduate school. The challenge to obtain teaching licenses in different departments is not overly burdensome, and many students do indeed graduate with multiple qualifications. Education is continually facing changes, with special needs education, particularly receiving increased attention in recent years. At our university, we have experts in all special needs education fields, and we have earned an excellent reputation nationally for providing a complete education of the reciprocal relationships among the various special needs cases. In this age, when all teachers are required to have a solid understanding of the basics of special needs education, our university is proud and confident of the high level of education we have provided in the past and will continue to provide in the future. In addition to our work in special needs education, the Center for Teacher Career Research was established in 2017 in an attempt to continue providing the most up-to-date training in a variety of contemporary issues, such as elementary school English education, countermeasures for bullying, international understanding education, and environmental education. March 11, 2011, was a day that changed the lives of many of us. On that day, too many children lost their lives while still at school. We cannot even begin to imagine the children's fear and feelings that day, nor the living nightmare that their parents are faced with now as a consequence of the tragedy that, in an instant, tore away the futures of so many innocent lives. A teacher's most important duty is to protect the lives of his or her students. While in the classroom, teachers have the responsibility to look after the lives of many children. Regardless of what may happen, they must do whatever they can to guarantee those children's safety. At our university, many students have a keen awareness of the importance of protecting children in cases of natural disasters. In an endeavor to develop and strengthen education regarding safety and protection at times of disaster, the Center for Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Education was established in 2016, answering the call from teachers and students who want to make the protection of students' lives their top priority and to pass on the self-protection skills in the event of disasters to their students. The Center now has its roots firmly settled in the community as a place to learn about disaster education. The Miyagi University of Education is a university where teachers and students can think together, learn together, contemplate various issues, make educational advancements together, and be creative together. We hope you will come and experience the charm the Miyagi University of Education has to offer for yourself.
      3. Miyagi Gakuin Women's University has a history of over 130 years. It started as Miyagi Girls' School, founded by OSHIKAWA Masayoshi of the Church of Christ in Japan, with missionary William Edwin HOI's missionary. The Girls' School was expanded into a high school and chartered as a private university in 1949. Miyagi Gakuin today comprises a daycare preschool, junior high school, senior high school, university, and graduate school. Today, the university has four faculties (Faculty of Contemporary Business, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Human Life Sciences, Faculty of Arts) with nine departments, and two graduate schools (Research School in the Humanities, Research School in Health and Nutrition The total number of students is about 3,000, and the overall student to teacher ratio is between 25 to 30 students. Education at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University is based on the spirit of Evangelical Christianity, to educate women to fear God, to seek truth with both freedom and humility, to respect all people on the principle of loving all our neighbors, and to work for the better welfare of all humans and to contribute to world peace. The environment surrounding universities is becoming increasingly diverse and complicated. Accordingly, the social role of education and research is also becoming more critical. Miyagi Gakuin Women's University responds to these social needs through its education and research, conducted in line with the university's founding principles. We aim to educate members of society to have a broad understanding of both culture and society. The principles of freedom of education and research and the guarantee of self-determination for educators and researchers must be maintained, but to maintain these principles, educators and researchers are required to maintain the highest standards of moral principles and conduct in their work. We at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University will do everything possible to gain society's trust and respect through our education and research. There are many student activity circles at MGU, catering to a wide variety of people. MG-LAC provides interested students with the opportunity to identify problems in the society around them and to discover productive ways of helping other people find solutions to these problems. University faculty and staff provide advice and guidance as needed. MG-LAC plays a vital role in the university's commitment to training students who can play an active and leading role in building local society. Applicants whose first language is not English must have studied English as a foreign language during high school.
