  2. In 1973, the Medical Faculty Rotterdam and the Netherlands School of Economics merged to become Erasmus University Rotterdam – the first university in the Netherlands named for a person, a man to whom Rotterdam owes its reputation has held for centuries in the academic world, Desiderius Erasmus. In 2009, the International Institute of Social Sciences became part of Erasmus University. ISS is an internationally renowned institute in the field of development studies and international cooperation. The strategic plan 2014-2018 provides us with contours. It identifies goals and ambitions for the years 2014 through 2018 and establishes the policy framework. The plan was drawn up in consultation with various bodies and individuals throughout the university and many external parties. For this reason, it has the complete support of a great many people both inside and outside of the organization. Workshops and discussions with the faculties, the University Council, the Supervisory Board, students, support staff, experts, alumni, the municipal council of Rotterdam, and the Dutch government all contributed to this plan. Sustainability is very much in the spotlight, and rightly so. Fortunately, more and more people are starting to realize that making the way we live in the world more sustainable – both close to home and internationally – is essential for present and future generations. As a socially responsible organization, Erasmus University Rotterdam wants to play a leading role, not only by having sustainability as an essential part in our daily operations and by having regard for our environment, but also by giving important 'values' to our staff and our students as leaders for the future. This portal brings together our sustainability ambitions, initiatives, expertise, and our efforts' preliminary results. It also outlines students, staff, and partner organizations' journeys, creating a truly sustainable university. Erasmus University Rotterdam Holding BV (EUR Holding) is part of the organizational framework of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) but has its structure and rules of conduct. EUR Holding was founded in 1995 and, at this moment, comprises 20 subsidiaries. De subsidiaries are active in contract education, contract research, and knowledge-exploitation and perform service-activities for EUR. EUR is 100% shareholder of EUR Holding, and EUR Holding is 100% shareholder of her subsidiaries. EUR Holding has a 33,3% share in the Academie voor Medisch Specialisten (AMS) BV. To achieve its strategic ambitions, Erasmus University collaborates with national and international partners. The desire for collaboration and networking is initially strongly driven by scientific research, but in recent years also increasingly in other areas (such as education, marketing communication) visible. Erasmus University sets out to create a safe, respectful, and healthy work environment. Your well-being is also important because it affects your department's atmosphere and the extent to which your work affects the balance between your workload and your capacity. Erasmus Vitality is a program that aims to improve the physical fitness of its employees. The program starts with a Health Check. The Health Check is completed with a report that elaborates on the results and your tests and physical examination. Furthermore, you receive advice about a personal training plan. At the end of the Health Check, you can decide whether you want to participate in the follow-up program. Based on the examination results and your personal exercise preferences, a personal training plan will be drawn up in consultation with the sports medicine doctor. View full university

  4. Erasmus Primary School was established in 1996 by the School of Philosophy Melbourne, a worldwide group of schools that offer courses in philosophy and self-development to adults. The first of these schools of philosophy (known as the School of Economic Science) was established in London in the 1930s, and a number have gone on to establish children's schools around the world – St James Schools London, Johannesburg and Durban John Scottus School Dublin John Colet School Sydney and Ficino School Auckland. All share the same guiding ethos, which acknowledges that every person shares the same universal essence and can grow to their full potential, given the right conditions. As parents, we are understandably particular when selecting a school for our children; we naturally wish to provide the best possible schooling for our young and impressionable children. At Erasmus, we provide every individual child with a careful balance of challenges to help them strive and achieve. We have celebrations to share in each others' successes and stillness exercises to help bring out the very best, no matter the task or discipline. From a still point, launching into any activity draws on one's innate abilities, whether writing, singing, or throwing a javelin. This, in turn, can provide a sense of real self-confidence, steadiness, and resilience. These qualities are already naturally there in each child. It is our job to draw them out and allow them to shine. The primary years are the time to lay a firm foundation for the adult of tomorrow, at the heart of all that we do at Erasmus Primary School, desire to provide each child with what they need to flourish and live a civilized and cultured life for society's good. This means developing a caring, thoughtful, resilient, happy, realistic, and disciplined character. Through the provision of the finest materials, a rich and rigorous academic program, performing and fine arts, physical education, classical languages, philosophy, meditation, and service, we seek to empower each child to express their unique talents wholeheartedly with true self-confidence. Our focus is the cultivation of every aspect of the child's being – body, mind, heart, and spirit. During these primary schooling years, with the help of a team of dedicated educators and support staff, together with a challenging academic focus, immersing the children in good material, good company, and a sense of community, a firm foundation is established which assists each child to navigate through to his or her secondary years and beyond.
