State Establishment "Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy of Health Ministry of Ukraine" (SE "DMA") is a center of education, science, and culture in the highly-developed industrial Dnipropetrovsk region. Nowadays, SE "DMA" is one of Ukraine's prominent higher educational institutions with unique integrated continuous training of specialists at three levels: premedical, undergraduate, and post-graduate studies. The academic staff considers the constant improvement of educational quality to be the primary task corresponding to present requirements. More than 600 teachers (among them 100 doctors and 350 candidates of sciences, one academician and three corresponding members of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, one corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) help to master challenging, responsible but infinitely grateful specialty at seven faculties of the medical Academy (three faculties of general medicine, dentistry, two international and post-graduate studies faculties). Our Academy is a higher educational institution of the 4th accreditation level with the continuous integrated training of specialists premedical, undergraduate, and post-graduate. The premedical level includes a preparatory course, which is the language training and studying general education disciplines. Undergraduate studies include training in general medicine, pediatrics, stomatology, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacy. Post-graduate studies include an internship, master's degree courses, Ph.D. courses, clinical fellowship, and specialization. The premedical course for foreign citizens was founded in 1990. More than 1000 listeners successfully graduated from the premedical course. Among them are 44 countries: China, Congo, Jordan, Egypt, India, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey, Tunisia, etc. The premedical course's primary goal is the language training and studying of general education disciplines that will allow students to continue successfully study in the Academy and become highly qualified specialists who will be able to work on the chosen specialty in the different countries of the world. Premedical course listeners participate in all academy activities, national and religious festivals, evenings of international friendship, became prize-winners and winners of the annual "Student's Spring" festival, participate at the international student's conferences in all higher education institutions of Dnipro city, their works appear in the academy newspaper "Pulse." The highly professional teachers provide high-quality education in chemistry, physics, biology, the Ukrainian, and Russian languages. The departments working with premedical course listeners actively develop their teaching techniques, the material, and technical resources, computer classes work with the new training programs. The Academy staff considers problems and gives help in the long process of foreign citizens' adaptation to a way of life in Ukraine, national traditions, Slavic culture, and mentality. DMA has a partnership with higher education institutions of Germany, France, the USA, Canada, Russia, the People's Republic of China, some organizations in Sweden, the Netherlands, Great Britain, etc. DMA is a member of the International Medical Education member who actively cooperates with the World Health Organization and other establishments. The Academy has all conditions for students' all-round development. If you are interested in scientific activity, you will be gladly accepted in students' scientific societies. Being one of Ukraine's oldest educational institutions, Academy was based on the 15th of September 1916 as the Katerynoslav higher female medical courses. For the years of its existence, SE "DMA" has prepared 50 thousand doctors, pharmacists, and nurses. The main objective of Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy is not only to prepare qualified professionals but also to bring healthy, physically developed, mentally stable, strong spirits, and well-built doctors. Sport and social work is an excellent part of it. The Academy has done a lot to expand and improve sports facilities for students, staff and faculty members, and residents. The sport - base of DMA includes a modern sports complex, which consists of four halls. There are classes of physical education, fitness groups, and sports clubs. In 1972, a 25-meter open-air swimming pool was built, and a little bit later there were built a tennis court and an open-air playground for athletics, general physical fitness, volleyball, football, and badminton. Each summer, health and sports camp "Health" ("Zdorovia"), which is situated near the Samara River, works in Orlovshchyna (Novomoskovsk district). It consists of 210 places. Every year about 450 students, staff, faculty, and family members improve their health there. The physical rehabilitation, sports medicine, and ideology department present 12 different sport sections such as athletics, volleyball, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, dancing, weight lifting, wrestling (sambo). There are over 300 students engaged. More than 1,400 students and staff take part in numerous sports events (about 30 events per year), which are held in DMA. After Galina Romanova, student sports competitions, freshmen cups, student dormitory tournaments, and employee competitions after Professor Popkov and other games have become traditional. Sports and music festival "Medical Students for a healthy lifestyle" ("Studenty-medicine za Dorothy deposit zhittia") is held on World Health Day. Research activity is an indispensable part of the training process and has been directed at developing fundamental and applied studies in medical science and practice overall years of its existence, science training, and educational personnel. Dnipro National University (DNU) is a higher educational establishment of the VI level of accreditation multibranch educational-scientific complex where 20 faculties, a post-graduate course and an institution of doctoral candidacy, 3 scientific research including 150 doctors of science, professors and almost 700 candidates of science, docents. In the structure of the university are also higher educational pedagogical college, technical school of the rocket-space machine-building, Zhovti Vody industrial technical school), a preparatory department (including such department for foreigners), a Regional centre of the continuous study “Prydniprovia” (in the structure of the Centre are colleges and technical schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, schools, production associations), a Centre of humanitarian problems of education, Regional centre of the education monitoring and others. In the Dnipropetrovs'k national university – in one of leading classical universities of Ukraine, the balanced system of the organisation and providing of fundamental and applied researches, research-design works, scientific, scientific and technical and innovative forms of activity which is caused by requirements of development of a science for the state and educational process is created. Work of a research part of university organizationally and methodically structured according to types of research works. There are accomplished specialists of educational-qualified level “master” training of all specialties, except “Fine arts” and “Design” at the faculty. The faculty trains scientific and scientific-pedagogical skilled workers through the post-graduate course the specialties: the Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, comparative study of literature, the Russian language, the German language and literature, foreign countries literature, the English language, the Russian language and an institution of doctoral candidacy: Russian literature, the Ukrainian language, foreign countries literature. 70 masters, 40 post-graduate students study at the faculty. Their scientific works are ruled by 14 doctors of philological science and 12 candidates of philological science. 7 students study at the institute of the external students. There are main and special disciples such as modern Ukrainian literal language, the English language, the German language, the Japanese language, the Chinese language, the French language, modern Russian language, history of Ukrainian literature, history of foreign literature, theory and practice of translation, history of Russian literature, principles of artistic text analysis, languages and literatures teaching methods, linguistic country-specific studies, the Slavonic languages (Bulgarian, Polish, Serbian, Slovak), the Latin language, theory of literature, painting, history of arts, computer graphics. Graduates from the faculty can work at the education establishments (schools, medium special educational establishments, gymnasiums, colleges, higher educational establishments), mass-media (newspaper, radio, television), touristic agencies, occupy translators’ place. Students’ self-government functions at the faculty not first year. A paramount task of the Council of the faculty students is to protect the rights and responsibilities of students, to improve and to make different the students’ life, to open a creative potential of the young people. The teachers and scientists of the faculty created a Regional center of the Ukrainian language history and development, where students’ scientific association “Philologist” functions. The deepening of the knowledge, working out the skills of scientific researches is an urgent direction of students’ association activity. An annual collection of students’ scientific publications “The young people are eager to comprehend the word” was founded. A French speaking students’ theatre and speaking club was founded at the Roman philology chair in 1995. The students of the Ukrainian and foreign philology and art-criticism faculty were always the creative personalities. Evidences of it is the conduction of the days of the first-year student, author’s song contests, New Year carnivals “Masks disappear in midnight”, CFI – the contests among faculties, “Miss faculty” contests and others. But not only contests and entertainments define the students’ life of the faculty. The Council of the students organizes visits to children’s homes with festival concerts and gifts during some years. The meeting with creators became traditional at the faculty: Irena Rozdobud’ko, Larisa Denysenko, Lesia Stepovychka, brothers Kapranov, Liubko Deresh, Yurii Andrushevych, Serhii Zhadan and others.The students of the faculty conducted an action “Do not be indifferent, find out more about AIDS”. Students take an active part in cultural life of the university: national circus studio “Raiduha”, national dance ensembles “Veselka”, theter studio “Hravtsi”. An ensemble of guitar players is organized at the faculty. It is a known activity of a theatre group “Vidlunnia”, besides its plays “Roksolana”, “Marusia Churai”, “Evening at the farmstead FUPandAC” and other. A young people’s chamber choir “Yunist’” is famous which is now 35 years old, the most active participants of it were the students of the faculty during this time. Second-year students of the English philology chair organized a studio of a modern dance “Sweets”, and first-year students organized a show-ballet “Dance sensation”. Dnipro National University is the member of the Magna Charta of the European universities (Magna Charta Observatory) of the Eurasian association of the universities which unites 69 leading educational establishments of CIS countries and the Baltic states. There is an intensive exchange of students, scientists and teachers in accordance with the directions of the university work and its foreign establishments-partners. Over 100 teachers and colleagues of scientific-research part are in the business foreign trips every year. Approximately 30 foreign lecturers and scientists take part in the educational process of the University every year. A scientific library of the University is one of the biggest among the libraries of Prydniprovia educational establishments. There are over 2 mln copies in its funds, 1 mln 400000 of which is scientific publications from different areas of knowledge, 460000 copies are educational methodological literature, 165000 – belles-lettres, 300000 – periodical publications, over 100000 – foreign publications. Dnipro National University has Prysamars’kyi international biosphere permanent establishment, botanical gardens, a complex of freshwater fauna “Akvarium”, a zoological museum. The pearl of the University is a palace of students, which is appointed to be historical-architectonical monument of the national significance by the decree of the government. 24 collectives of amateur art activities work at the Palace of students of the university, 13 of them have honorary titles “National” or “Exemplary”.
