  1. Hasmonean High School is a center of educational excellence serving the Orthodox Jewish Community of North-West London. Boys and girls are taught separately on two campuses. Our school combines the secular with the religious within a framework of Torah im Derech Eretz (respect for others, both within the school community and in the wider world). Academic rigor is combined with in-depth Torah study, incorporating values such as chesed (caring/ kindness) and tzedakah (supporting charities). Here at Hasmonean, we are committed to ensuring that our students grow as individuals who can make positive contributions to the school and in the wider community. Social, moral, spiritual, and cultural (SMSC) education is integral to our curricula and it allows our students to understand how to enhance their Jewish lives within the ethos of the school. Hasmonean is one of the best performing comprehensive schools in the country: our students attain consistently high standards in their GCSE, A/S, and A-Level examinations. The vast majority of our graduates go on to study in world-class yeshivas and seminaries, before pursuing university education and a wide variety of careers. The highest expectations are shared by students, staff, and parents. As a faith school, we believe it is important that our students are exposed to life in the wider community and that they have the opportunity to share their experiences with people of different faiths. Our students can do this through the various volunteering tasks that they carry out, through taking part in educational visits across London and the United Kingdom, through participating in sporting activities and events, and through various other activities that take place both within the school and within the wider community. Alongside our commitment to education is a determination that every Hasmonean student understands their place in their community and wider British society. Teaching them to embrace their place in the world around them is achieved through various aspects of our curriculum and a broader social, moral, spiritual, and cultural (SMSC) educational program. It is also reflected in our school ethos of Torah Im Derech Eretz and students have the opportunity to learn how to integrate with others from different backgrounds and respect British Values and the different cultures that make up our society. We expect our students to play a meaningful role in society and provide many opportunities during their school life for them to do so. Underpinning this is a clear expectation, modeled by our staff, that everyone, regardless of their background should be treated with dignity, courtesy, kindness, and respect. We have a first-class staff dedicated to making our school a happy and purposeful school for students. Each student is valued, along with his or her parents or carers. We aim to maximize each student’s potential within a caring, disciplined, and ordered environment, and, in return, expect all students to respect and support the values on which our community is based. All students, staff, and parents are aware of Hasmonean’s great purpose: to nurture students to become committed to, and ready to live, a life of Torah im Derech Eretz (to be successful in the wider world without compromising the attitudes and values enshrined in the Torah). This ethos has been at the heart of the school since its inception when it arose out of the ashes of the Holocaust to provide those who fled from it with a future it is this ethos that enables our students to become successful, responsible contributors to modern-day Britain. Hasmonean’s values go above and beyond academic achievement. We expect teachers to deliver a first-rate religious education, outstanding secular studies, and a broad and enriched curriculum that promotes values such as chesed (caring/ kindness) and tzedakah (supporting charities). Although the vast majority of our graduates go on to study in world-class yeshivas and seminaries, before pursuing university education and a wide variety of careers, all students are well-prepared for their future lives. Students are taught to love and cherish their religion and culture, to explore its rich depths and to be enriched by them, and that living an ethical life is a privilege rather than a burden. They are also taught to respect people of other faiths (or no faith), those who come from different cultures, and those who choose to lead different lifestyles. We ensure that students are supported, regardless of their economic background or academic ability, to make excellent progress and to enjoy their spiritual, personal, and academic journey. We aim to maximize each student’s potential within a caring, disciplined, and ordered environment in return, all students are obliged to respect and support the school’s values, act as role models to other students, try their best, and act with a kind heart. 3. Our school is dedicated to providing the best possible education for every pupil in a stimulating and safe environment. We follow a literacy-rich curriculum, centered around a text, which is linked to our termly themes. We aim to link the Humanities, Sciences and Arts subjects within these themes, following the recommendations of the new National Curriculum. To make learning exciting and engaging, we include lots of skills-based learning within our lessons. We are committed to all aspects of education and development, encouraging families to work in partnership with us to realize our aim, of successfully helping each child to achieve their full potential. At Haslemere, we are dedicated to providing the best possible education for every pupil in a safe and stimulating environment. We aim to encourage our children to become reflective, independent learners. Staff at Haslemere have very high expectations of the children and hope that they will leave us as confident, polite, and independent young people, ready to meet the challenges of further education and the future. We encourage our young people to aim high and to ‘reach for the stars so that they develop a sense of aspiration and ambition for the future. We encourage families to work in partnership with us to achieve our aim so that our children achieve their full academic potential and develop a life-long love of learning. We have an open-door approach that welcomes pop-in meetings, appointments, and emails for communications. We also support parents through regular surveys, workshops, coffee mornings, and social events organized by the Friends of Haslemere Parent Teacher Association. We regularly celebrate our children’s achievements, to instill a sense of pride and appreciation for their dedication and endeavor. We actively promote and teach children how to stay safe and live a healthy and active lifestyle, through our excellent PSHCE curriculum. We believe that children should look beyond the walls of our school and consider issues that affect the wider world. To this end, every class ends the week on a Friday afternoon with WoW Time, (Windows on the World), where children might discuss events in the news, hold debates on issues that children raise themselves, discuss how to stay safe and healthy, and learn life skills, such as making sensible choices, resisting peer pressure, valuing others’ opinions and appreciating each other's differences. Alongside this, we follow a monthly Values Curriculum, which encourages children to consider principles that embrace all belief systems, such as honesty, cooperation, and responsibility. This enables our children to develop a principled approach to life, which will, in turn, support their future choices and achievements. At Haslemere, we take e-safety very seriously, at the start of each term children take part in e-safety sessions and they are reminded about e-safety at school and home and to be respectful of the equipment they use each time they undertake an ICT lesson. Children are taught how to email each other through our Learning Platform-they can only email their peers in their class group. Teachers can monitor conversations to ensure that children are being respectful to each other and the learning platform has a “Whistle” that can be clicked to let the class teacher, headteacher, and Website Administrator know if they see something they do not like on the learning platform. Children can also use the blog on the learning platform taking part in group discussions again this is monitored by the class teacher. Homework can be set and that can be uploaded to the learning platform for the teacher to mark. Haslemere Primary School is part of the London Grid for Learning and we have our internet and our filtering of the internet managed by them. This is a robust filtering system that protects our children in school. Children are encouraged to report to their class teacher if they see something on the internet that offends them and the school will look into the “offending item”, if it is something that has slipped through the filtering net we will request it to be blocked and normally it is blocked within 30 minutes, or quicker. We strongly recommend to parents and carers that parental controls are set up on all computers, tablets, mobile phones, and especially your broadband to keep your children safe. Give your child their login details with the parental controls set, on some devices you can even set how long they can use the device. Below is a list of different devices and how to set the parental controls, this is from your broadband to your handheld game device and everything in between. At Haslemere, we have a wonderfully diverse community, where all major world faiths are represented and all cultures valued. We have adopted 22 moral values which provide a common understanding in school and a framework from which to work in creating a cohesive atmosphere. The values run on a 2-year cycle. The British Values are also taught alongside the values curriculum. The values are broken down into a particular “Value of the Month” and provide a focus for assemblies, WOW lessons, and day-to-day school life. Our school is a harmonious place where children can thrive and work, and develop their full potential. View full school

  7. We are enormously proud of the school’s rich history which has laid down foundations for academic excellence. We are equally proud of our innovative approach to educating girls in the 21st century, incorporating the benefits of the traditional with the modern. Our small classes allow for personalized individual attention to each child and the academic successes of our children are a testimony to their excellent teaching and their very own desire and drive to excel. Standards are high and expectations are great. At Harvington Prep School we place a strong emphasis on the creative development of the children and our drama and music departments are a strength of the school, enabling the children to perform and shine triumphantly. As a small family unit, our pastoral care is second to none. The children are happy and motivated learners, confident yet caring to those around them. Harvington Nursery takes girls and boys from the term that they are three up until they move to the next stage of their education in our Transition or a Reception class. The girls then progress through our Prep School. We are a happy, thriving community, with high educational standards. We encourage a love of reading from a very early age and our girls are often to be found in one of our libraries, browsing through our varied collection of titles. The study of literature is key to everything we do and our experienced teachers guide the girls through a novel each term, discussing and sharing the richness and nuances of the English language. We look at a varied selection of poetry and prose, in preparation for the challenges of the English 11+ examination. Our girls love writing their own stories and each week, we select one to celebrate and share, in our weekly assembly, as our Story of the Week. The school’s mission is to identify and develop to the full the natural talents and potential of each pupil and to prepare them for the next step of their education. The school seeks to achieve this within the context of a multi-cultural community, emphasizing strong moral and spiritual tenets shared with all faiths. Harvington School opened in 1890 as Heidelberg College, a kindergarten school run by two sisters, Misses Watson. The school was named after the birthplace of Miss Christabel Watson’s mentor and remained Heidelberg College until the First World War when in 1915 the staff and parents took the decision to rename the school, and Harvington was born. We begin our study of mathematics in Nursery, with number recognition, counting, and sorting. Harvington Prep School follows the Singapore Maths method of teaching mathematics, which enables the girls to be independent learners of a kinesthetic and visual approach, that lays down the foundations of problem-solving at a very early age. That way, our girls are well prepared and confident at applying their skills and their knowledge to the 11+ examination. Art and design are taught throughout the school and also in weekly after-school clubs for pre-Prep and Prep students. The art room is light and airy with a pleasant outlook conducive to a quiet, calm, and creative atmosphere. Throughout their learning, pupils have the opportunity to develop their skills and techniques in a wide variety of areas including painting, drawing, sculpting, needlework, clay modeling, and design. Students are exposed to a variety of artists and art styles to enhance their knowledge and understanding of art history, and to put their artworks into context. They are encouraged to work boldly and creatively in art lessons and have the opportunity to display and celebrate their masterpieces throughout the school and in external exhibitions and art competitions. 9. Hartley is a happy and inclusive primary school and we welcome children and families from a range of backgrounds. We are lucky to have a dedicated and supportive staff team who work very hard to provide the best opportunities for all our children in a safe and happy school environment. At Hartley we want our children to be both happy and successful. We have high expectations of our pupils and wish them to be successful life-long learners. Our Vision Statement is: "Hartley's commitment is to instill confidence in all pupils to achieve their very best and become successful lifelong learners." As a school we will: Cater for the needs of all pupils. Challenge, excite, and promote positive attitudes - develop a 'growth mindset'. Draw on and value the religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity of all our learners. Encourage children to be independent and to take ownership of their learning. Provide a purposeful environment where every child discovers their potential and love of learning. Equip our pupils with the ability to acquire the skills they need for the rapidly evolving world in which they live. At Hartley, we believe that children learn through their total experience. This policy guides what children do, what teachers do, how time is managed, the organization of the classroom, and what the school as an organization does to create effective and well-managed teaching and learning environment in which the individual children’s needs are met. At Hartley School, we believe that effective learning is achieved by creating an environment that is peaceful and calm. Teaching must challenge and stimulate children. The teacher should aim to keep a well-organized accessible room that welcomes, encourages, and appreciates learning. All teachers must plan lessons that provide equal learning opportunities. The development of the growth mindset is promoted across the school we want our pupils to be resilient, assessment-literate children who love learning and challenge themselves to do more. At Hartley, we value display as an important resource that stimulates pupils’ interest and extends learning. Displays should reflect individual children’s efforts and abilities. Also, they should reflect the range of backgrounds, languages, and abilities represented in our school, promoting the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of all pupils. Children should be continually encouraged to take increasing responsibility for the care of their work and the displays. Hartley Primary is committed to the Equality Act 2010 which provides a single, consolidated source of discrimination law, covering all the unlawful types of discrimination. We aim to enable all pupils to take part as fully as possible in every part of school life by developing each child's self-confidence, recognizing their strengths, and encouraging them to achieve their full potential. “Our vision for children with special educational needs and disabilities is the same as for all children and young people – that they achieve well in their early years, at school and in college, and lead happy and fulfilled lives.” Hartley Primary School has a strong focus on high aspirations and improving outcomes for all its pupils. Teachers use appropriate assessment to set deliberately ambitious targets. Lessons are planned to address potential areas of difficulty and to remove barriers to pupil achievement. View full school

  11. Harry Gosling School is situated in Whitechapel in the London borough of Tower Hamlets. 450 children attend the school, from the age of three to eleven. The school building is a wonderful mix of new and old. The original building dates from 1910, and our Centenary building opened in 2010. All children learn in spacious, well-resourced classrooms, and we have a large and exciting outdoor space that provides an exceptional play and learning environment. At Harry Gosling, we aim to provide the best possible start in life for all our pupils. We are committed to equality and diversity and we ensure that this is reflected in all our policies, procedures, and practices. We simply aim for the best, so that all our children are ready not only for their next stage of learning, but also to take up their place with confidence in modern Britain. Inspiring excellence is at the heart of what we do. That is why we all share our motto 'Learning to shine in everything we do'. Our values at Harry Gosling are Equality, Excellence, Responsibility, and Teamwork. The entire school community has contributed to selecting our values and determining how we demonstrate those values at school. Harry Gosling Primary School is committed to serving its community. It recognizes the multi-cultural, multi-faith, and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom. It also understands the vital role it has in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalization by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them. It follows equal opportunities guidance which guarantees that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar. Harry Gosling Primary School is dedicated to preparing students for their adult life beyond the formal, examined curriculum and ensuring that it promotes and reinforces British values to all its students. At Harry Gosling Primary School we believe that every child must be provided with opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, academically, and physically to achieve the highest possible standards. We are an inclusive learning community that is forward-thinking, innovative and confident, and committed to ensuring that all of the children in our care are happy, enthusiastic, and purposeful learners. A school is a place in which we can expand our minds and our horizons. At Harry Gosling, we aim to provide excellent learning and teaching opportunities in all areas of the curriculum. We plan activities to motivate, inspire and extend pupils. We cover all aspects of the National Curriculum and, to help children make connections in their learning, we weave the curriculum in broad ‘topic-based themes. We go on lots of trips and invite many visitors into school to build on the curriculum we offer in school. At Harry Gosling this year we have a focus on growing our brains so we can be the best learners possible. We have adapted Guy Claxton's approach to learning behaviors to suit the needs of our pupils. Every third week we have a whole school assembly where we learn about a new learning behavior. Each learning behavior is linked to a familiar story so the pupils can see the learning behaviors in action and understand how to apply them. This enables our pupils to then go back into their lessons and have a go at practicing this particular learning behavior. Each phase then has a weekly assembly where two children from each class are awarded for demonstrating that learning behavior throughout the week. View full school

  13. A full-boarding school for boys aged 13-18, founded in 1572 under a Royal Charter granted by Elizabeth I. We are one of just a few full-boarding, all-boys schools in the United Kingdom. Through the full-boarding model, we can use the whole day productively: the timings of games and lessons change with the seasons, and the available light groups and societies meet after prep and at weekends, and extra subjects find room around the timetable. Although we never pretend that single-sex schooling is the only way to educate someone, it does help to prolong childhood in a very healthy way, enabling children to express themselves intellectually, emotionally, and creatively without feeling self-conscious. Our rare full-boarding, all-boys environment is key to what makes Harrow, Harrow. Harrow was founded in 1572 under a royal charter from Queen Elizabeth I by the local landowning farmer, John Lyon. It soon became one of the greatest schools in the country, attracting pupils from all over the world. This distinguished history enriches the daily life of our entire community. From the boys’ distinctive dress and the carving of their names onto boards in the Houses to our unusual form of football, archaic slang, and the communal singing of Harrow Songs, these customs develop a strong corporate spirit and a sense of belonging to something bigger than oneself. Harrow’s 324 acres comprise six conservation areas, a registered park, a nine-hole golf course, and even a working farm. Coupled with its buildings of special architectural and historic interest, the School has the quality of a village. Positioned as we are on the Metropolitan Line, 20 minutes from Baker Street on a fast train, we enjoy the best of both worlds – a spacious boarding community within easy reach of the vibrancy of the capital. At Harrow, we believe that success should be measured not by grades, but by one's influence on the world. The willingness and ability to learn, to lead, and to serve are what enable a life to be both well-lived and worthwhile. Our purpose is to develop these qualities in Harrovians during their five years with us, by focusing on five key areas. In the process of educating adolescents, more than half the battle is won if they awaken looking forward to the day ahead. Employing inspiring Beaks is crucial, as is a stimulating academic diet. Harrow's Super-Curriculum promotes research, reflection, and debate through habitual reading, extended projects, over 80 clubs and societies, lectures from subject experts almost every day, and a non-examined Electives program. These intellectual pursuits develop the freedom and confidence to think and speak independently, and mature our pupils into the candidates that leading universities look for. Achieving good results in public examinations increases one's options in life. Virtually all of our boys take up places at the best universities. Our Universities Team includes subject and regional specialists and gives specific guidance to those heading towards Oxbridge, Ivy League, and other very competitive institutions. In sport and the arts, some of the country's leading coaches and mentors help boys to capitalize on their talents, leading in many cases to professional careers. Not all Harrovians can be Winston Churchill but each, in their fashion, can make a positive contribution. To develop a strong character, boys are encouraged to adopt a robust moral code and to embrace wholeheartedly all that Harrow has to offer. Our busy, structured, and purposeful environment produces young men who are confident, creative, and better team players - be it in the form room or the board room, these are things that count. While Harrow is oversubscribed and selective, we do not focus simply on academic performance when it comes to admissions. Harrovians have a range of talents, but all share a willingness to contribute and the ability to thrive in our full-boarding environment. Maintaining this optimal composition of our pupil body is vital, as is the recruitment and development of those we employ. While Harrow is, ostensibly, a traditional place, at its heart is a hunger for innovation. As our pupils' needs develop, so too does the organization that surrounds them. On the horizon are major building plans, including a new state-of-the-art sports hall, biology and chemistry laboratories, and some significant landscaping that will enhance our outdoor space. We have a track record of excellent examination outcomes at both GCSE and post-16 level (A-level and BTEC), where year on year learners progress by more than the national average. We know that when young people join us, their parents expect them to be successful and to enjoy school, and we work hard as a community to meet and exceed these expectations. Our staff expects to learn too and are all involved in research and pedagogical study to ensure that their practice is constantly evolving allowing us to deliver even greater rates of progress for our learners. We are delighted to invite you to be part of Harrow High School’s new Alumni Association which will be supported by a thriving, engaged alumni community. 23. We opened in 2012 with reception students and have grown by a year group each year. We now have two classes in Year groups Reception to Year 5. By growing slowly but steadily, we can give every one of our 300 children a great deal of personal attention. As well as focusing on helping our pupils become confident readers, writers and mathematicians, we will also be ensuring that, as our pupils progress through the school there is a range of music, drama, and sporting activities for them to choose from. We are proud to be part of a vibrant and supportive international community and are keen that parents and families play an active part in our school life. Our building is smart and modern, and we are fortunate enough to have a lovely playground and excellent equipment and facilities. Especially at such a young age, it is important children are taught and looked after in the right way for them. We want children to retain their individuality and be treated the right way. We step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. As an Academy parent, you would be welcome to discuss your son or daughter with us at any time. We also send reports home every term. We welcome children of all abilities and want them to enjoy school and thrive. For children with special needs, one of our first steps is to work with their parents and other specialists to create a plan for supporting them. Our approach as a whole is reviewed with children’s classroom teachers, relevant specialists, and parents every half term. As children progress through school, one of our aims will be to make sure we give them a ‘head start’ for the rest of their education. As well as engaging them in the excitement of the subject at hand, these experiences help prepare children for a successful transition to secondary school. In Reception, we follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. The curriculum consists of seven areas of learning: Personal, Social, and Emotional Development Physical Development Communication and Language Literacy Mathematics Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design There are then 17 Early Learning Goals (ELGs) that are part of these areas of learning. If a child achieves these goals by the end of the Reception year then they are said to be working at the expected level. Early Year's learning and development are provided through purposeful play and adult-led structures and routines that build confidence and provide intellectual stimulus and challenge. Throughout the day, children have direct teaching sessions for maths, literacy, and phonics, either as the whole class or in small groups. The rest of the time they take part in activities inside and outside the classroom. Some of the activities are prepared to focus on specific objectives. The children are also able to choose activities from any of the other resources available. View full school

  25. Our Academy opened in September 2014 to provide high-quality primary places for local families. We believe that every child is unique and that each deserves the opportunity to be happy, feel valued, and experience success. We are part of a Federation of schools with an established track record in Bromley and across London. The Harris Federation Primary Team provides a great deal of support to our staff, helping give pupils the highest quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. Our ethos at the Academy is that all children can achieve: it is our job as educators are to do everything possible to enable this to happen. We are delighted to be in a brand new building, which will be a bright, modern, and welcoming place for children to attend. We are fortunate to have a strong and committed partnership with our parent body, a tradition we want to continue as the Academy grows and develops. Whatever a child’s background or starting point, we want to make sure that they finish Year 6 with the academic skills, social skills, and knowledge necessary to succeed. Every lesson at our school will be creative and there will be plenty of time for children to think, to play, to discover and wonder. Each child will be taught in the way that suits them best and we will step in quickly if a change is needed. For some children, this might involve one-to-one support if they are finding something difficult and for others, it could mean stretching them more to keep them interested. Our school will be relaxed and comfortable but pupils will know that good behavior is expected of them. They will be frequently praised and rewarded for trying their best and for being kind, hard-working, and well-behaved. We want the school to feel friendly and welcoming and will always make sure that every pupil has at least one friend. Our children will be taught to respect each other and their teachers. Our academy is a member of the Harris Federation, a group of 44 primary and secondary academies in and around London educating some 30,000 young people. The Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance enables us not only to train and develop teachers and leaders in our academies but also to do so for other schools. Each academy is led and run by its Principal and other senior leaders: we are deliberately a federation rather than a chain. What unites us is a culture that ensures the children and teenagers in our schools get an excellent education within a happy, caring, and supportive environment. As a result of this, all Harris academies so far to have been inspected by Ofsted have been rated either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ with the vast majority being Outstanding. Many of these academies replaced schools previously considered to have been failing. The aim of our teachers is always to deliver lessons that children enjoy and feel motivated by. We believe that all lessons should be creative, not just arts subjects. We want all of our pupils to be confident readers, writers, and mathematicians. Our teachers make sure these areas as well as the rest of the National Curriculum are taught in ways that engage the natural sense of curiosity that children have. The result of this is that children become eager, confident pupils who understand the joy of learning and are prepared well for academic success. View full school
