The Woodlands Prep International school is a private preschool through 12th-grade school committed to academic excellence in a nurturing and intimate environment that encourages personal initiative, creativity, and curiosity. We are an International Baccalaureate World School, where students can take the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program, and the Diploma Program at the school. We are the fourth school in Texas and the only school in the Houston area to offer the IB continuum program. Our campus is in a beautifully forested area at The Woodlands in north Houston, ranked as the 6th best city to live in America in 2017.
We are, by far, the school of choice for international education in this area. Families from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas have already found a home here at Woodlands Prep. Over half of our students hail from outside the United States. Our American-born students find that our school offers a much more exciting education than they could find elsewhere because we offer an environment that prepares them to live, study, and work anywhere in the world.
Ultimately, we believe that international education should provide a foundation for a well-rounded, fulfilling life. Our students deepen their knowledge of the world through inquiry, reflection, and action – learning from friends and teachers with very diverse backgrounds. They are encouraged to discover and develop talents, interests, and friendships through school and extracurricular activities. They also have many opportunities to make a difference in their local and global communities through service to others. We want all students at The Woodlands Preparatory School to find a sense of their passion and purpose in life and to develop the confidence and abilities they need to pursue their dreams.
Now, more than ever, the success of younger generations depends on their ability to adapt quickly to the ever-changing landscape, and that, in turn, is dependent on modern education, one that does not merely teach facts or test memorization and note-copying abilities, but, rather, one that empowers students to learn independently using the resources available and teaches them to communicate, collaborate, and coexist within an increasingly globalized society.
We chose to be an IB World school so that we could provide an education that is reflective of our globalized society, and we feel fortunate to be able to move freely outside of traditional curricula and standardization and teach students how to learn through hands-on experience, in the style that suits each of their individual needs. We believe we can change the world only by changing education first.
The Woodlands Prep is an IB World School, which means we can offer IB's exclusive and rigorous programs. The IB curriculum is designed to challenge students to excel in their studies and emphasize students' personal development and academic achievement through hands-on experience.
IB programs help develop students who will build a better world through respect and intercultural understanding. These programs' goal is to encourage students of all ages to think critically, challenge assumptions, consider both local and global contexts, build social responsibility, develop multilingual abilities, and develop other skills that are vital to succeed in a globalized society.
