Detroit Catholic Central High School is the largest Catholic and Private high school in Michigan. With a student body joined in Brotherhood, there is a place for every young man, no matter his interests. CC has a long-standing tradition of preparing young men for life in Mind, Body, and Spirit. The educational atmosphere sets high expectations for students and challenges them to reach their potential. They are mentored spiritually, academically, and in their extracurriculars.
Established in 1928 and run by the Basilian Fathers, there is a spiritual element to everything at CC. Not all students are Catholic, but students develop their faith life through daily prayer, theology, and Christian service. Also, our Campus Ministry office organizes retreats, all-school Liturgies, student-led community service, and numerous faith-building activities that enhance the spiritual life of our student body.
Students can take advantage of the beautiful facilities of our 113-acre campus and resources of a large school while maintaining a small school community's connection and the opportunity to build lifelong friendships. We have five counselors, with a student: teacher ratio of 16:1 and an average class size of 22 students.
Catholic Central High School recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children and collaborates with them to help their children learn and grow in the Catholic faith. We provide a safe and challenging environment where mutual respect and high expectations are maintained through students' active engagement in the learning process. The young men of Catholic Central learn the ideals of the Basilian Fathers – goodness, discipline, and knowledge holistically – to become productive members of the Church and society.
The Curriculum of Catholic Central High School is the result of careful planning and evaluation. It is designed to meet all students' unique needs and interests while developing skills and attitudes necessary to our social, civic, and economic life. The courses of study, offering an integrated Christian approach, are endorsed by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and lead to a fully accredited high school diploma. The course of study at Catholic Central High School is designed to prepare students for college. Students are given wide latitude in their subject selections but are advised to obtain their counselor's professional advice when choosing a program for the school year.
Catholic Central faculty and staff work hard to make sure that technology is at the forefront of our curriculum. Our students use iPads in the classroom to access many of their books, homework, tests, and other classwork. Our school offers Wi-Fi in all classrooms to ensure that our students and teachers have access to the latest educational resources. Student access to the Wi-Fi is monitored by the Tech Team at CC to ensure that our students are using the internet safely and responsibly.
The Catholic Central Technology Team has comprised of faculty members brought together to facilitate the use of technology by students and faculty members. They are here to field any questions and serve as a response team to any issues involving computers, iPods, TVs, audio/visual, printers, etc.
