At Wentworth Institute of Technology, our students are always engaged in the process of making – and of making things better. When you join our community, you'll take on that mission for yourself. You'll learn to master your area of expertise and collaborate with other students and professionals from across the university and region. You'll benefit from our interdisciplinary curriculum, which combines rigorous studies with practical learning opportunities, and spend hours in our leading-edge labs and studios bring your ideas to life. You'll learn firsthand how Wentworth's multifaceted approach will equip you with the broad skills, in-depth knowledge, and real-world experience you need to excel.
Wentworth's traditions and the vision upon which it was founded make the Institute distinct. Our leadership has developed a series of comprehensive and collaborative strategic plans designed to keep our offerings on the leading edge. This ensures that students enjoy an education of exceptional value – both while they are studying here and throughout their careers.
Our traditions comprise the foundation of our culture and community. These include the school's seal, which has historical origins, our school colors, our mascot, the leopard, and our alma mater. The Wentworth experience is the culmination of what happens when our traditions inspire our students. Our students respond through their school pride, diversity, ingenuity, and commitment to making the world a better place.
A leader in engineering, technology, design, and management education, Wentworth provides the technical skills, and professional knowledge students need to become leaders in rewarding and successful careers—and engaged citizens.
Our talented and engaged faculty—who bring extensive industry experience—and staff provide high-quality learning opportunities that meet the industry's ever-changing needs. Our hands-on, practical education prepares our students to hit the ground running when they enter the workforce.
Wentworth is a maker community. We build things, and we learn by doing. Academics, of course, are essential, and our classroom learning marries the skills of our exceptional faculty with rigorous curricula that represent the leading edge of knowledge in every discipline we offer.
We integrate experiential learning with our academics. This takes many forms. Only Wentworth requires a minimum of two co-op semesters in order to graduate. But that is just the beginning. Other hands-on activities involve EPIC Learning projects, interdisciplinary engagements with external parties, opportunities to develop entrepreneurial ventures, and service-learning projects with community partners.
We believe that our unique blend of academics and experiential learning helps students learn more, but what they have learned into practice, and graduate with the know-how needed to succeed in their careers.
We strive to create connections between the Wentworth community and the professional community around us. All Undergraduates work in Coops to complete their degrees. And we work with Alumni to open up future Coops. In today's economy, success depends mostly on working collaboratively with others from different disciplines and organizations. Our Externally Collaborative, Project-based, Interdisciplinary Curricula will build that success for all students.
