The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans has teaching, research, and health care functions state-wide, through its six professional schools and eight Centers of Excellence, as well as the more than one hundred hospitals and other health science-related institutions throughout the State, Region, Nation, and the World, with which they maintain affiliations.
The Student Financial Aid Office administers grants, loans, scholarships, and part-time employment. Students interested in receiving financial aid should contact this Office well in advance of their expected enrollment. Each student's need for aid will be evaluated on the Health Sciences Center's information supplied by the Financial Aid Policy. Representatives of the Office are available for consultation with all candidates for admission and with students.
Although the primary responsibility for financing an education rests with the student and the student's immediate family, it is recognized that many students require additional assistance in order to meet their educational costs. Awards from aid programs funded by the Federal or State government are administered according to laws and regulations governing those programs. Priority is given to students with the greatest documented need the appropriate deadline receives whose completed applications.
The mission of the Office of International Services is to offer the highest level of professional guidance and immigration-related services to international students and scholars who come to LSUHSC-NO to fulfill their educational and professional goals.
Student housing at LSU Health Sciences Center—New Orleans is more than just a place to stay. It is where our students can live, study, learn, and grow while enjoying the advantage of a dynamic and diverse university setting right at their doorstep. Elevated crosswalks increase safety and protect students from the weather while keeping them near classrooms and labs. Both student housing facilities are designed for the individual student to enjoy a safe home while living on campus.
Students of the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans are eligible to reside in LSUHSC housing facilities. Also, post-doctoral fellows and affiliates (i.e., visiting faculty, visiting researchers, and visiting students) will be allowed on-campus housing at Stanislaus Hall provided that capacity exists after fulfilling student demand and that they are here for training or educational purposes.
