Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin) was founded in 1930 as the Siberian Institute of Construction (Sibstrin). Being the first higher educational establishment in the field of construction and architecture in Novosibirsk, it has been considered for many years to be the only one in that field in the entire region of Siberia, Far East, and Central Asia of the former Soviet Union. In 1935 the Institute was transformed into Novosibirsk Institute of Civil Engineering, named after V.V.Kuibyshev. In July 1993, the Institute changed its name to Novosibirsk State Academy of Construction. In June 1997, the Academy got the status of the University. Since 2003 the full name of the University has been Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
Nowadays, NSUACE (Sibstrin) is an extensive educational and scientific establishment providing training of specialists for Russia's construction industry. The University carries out researches in various fields: mechanics of solids, fluid mechanics, CAD systems, nanotechnology, winter concreting technology, and developments for mechanization of construction. The University has gained universal recognition. Substring has been awarded several national and international prizes, including "The Leader of Russian Economy," "The American Golden Certificate of International Prestige," the gold medal of "SOCIETE D'ENCOURAGEMENT POUR L'INDUSTRIE NATIONALE" (The Association for Encouraging Industrial Development), "European Grand Prix for Quality. " Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin) is a member of the European Civil Engineering Education and Training (EUCEET) Association.
In order to facilitate international cooperation and to strengthen its position in the competitive international education market, Sibstrin University has founded the Consortium of Novosibirsk Universities (CNU), which includes the largest universities of the city: National Research Novosibirsk State University, Novosibirsk State Technical University, Siberian University of Geoinformation and Technologies and Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin). In June 2015, Sibstrin and UNESCO agreed to establish a UNESCO Chair on Theory and Technology of Environmental Safety in Water Resources Control at Sibstrin University. According to the Public Organizations "Business Russia," Sibstrin enters the top 50 higher educational establishments graduating specialists in high demand in the labor market. Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering has the State Accreditation Certificate and the License for the Right of Conducting Educational Activity.
The primary condition for any transformation and development in the country is the intensive construction of domestic dwellings and industrial objects. In this connection, the most important direction for us is the training of highly qualified specialists in construction. Traditions of high-quality training, scientific schools, and scientific-industrial and innovation subdivisions have been formed and are thriving in Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin). It allows us to succeed in solving problems of any complexity and taking part in the construction complex development.

The University has modern sports and fitness center with 6.3 thousand square meters, considered one of the best ones in Novosibirsk. It also has a stadium, a skiing lodge, and a shooting range.
