Ivanovo State Medical Academy has been training international students since 1991. This time, 247 foreign citizens were awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine, M.D. in specialties “General Medicine” and “Pediatrics” one of them (a Nepalese graduate, Dr. KRISHNA BHANDARI) was awarded the M.D. Diploma with honor 22 foreign alumnae maintained their Ph.D. dissertations.
Now more than 150 international students from 28 countries: Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Romania, Syria, Somali, Sudan, and some states of the CIS and former USSR republics are trained at the ISMA. Most of the ISMA alumnae works in large hospitals in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America.
Academy’s buildings and clinics, including a virtual library with a media library, are provided with up-to-date equipment.
All international students are provided with places at the hostel of blocked type with all conveniences. Also, they are obliged to be health insurance policyholders in need. They may be examined and treated in the Academy’s clinic.
Mastering of clinical disciplines and practical training are realized in full in native medicinal and preventive treatment facilities. Regional and municipal medicinal and preventive treatment facilities are clinical bases of the Academy.
Ivanovo State Medical Academy is situated in Ivanovo, which is 4-5 hours by bus or trains away from Moscow - the capital of Russia (335 km). Ivanovo is often called a student’s city, and it is not surprising. There are active 18 universities and their branches: Medical Academy, Agricultural Academy, State University, University of Chemistry and Technology, Power University, Polytechnic University, as well as Fire and Rescue Academy of the State Fire Service of EMERCOM of Russia.
The Academy is proud of its international students and graduates and is ready to develop international collaboration further.
