Since its inception in 1996 with the affiliation of University of Missouri St. Louis, USA, MCBS has passionately strived to provide excellent learning opportunities and necessary skills in the specializations of Business and Computer Science & Technology. In addition to our renowned Associate's and Bachelor's degrees, MCBS has three outstanding Master's degrees: an MBA affiliated with Franklin University, USA, and a Master's in Islamic Banking and Finance affiliated with Management Sciences University, Malaysia. The MBA program is the first-ever American graduate program offered in Oman, while the Master's in Islamic Banking and Finance is the first program of its kind in the sultanate. The third Master's degree is in IT, affiliated with the University of Missouri-St. Louis and delivered at MCBS, led by faculty with real-world experience.
Our faculty and students come from different countries, which contributes to a dynamic cultural diversity while consciously maintaining the traditions and customs of this country and its people. As part of our flexible approach to learning, we offer courses for part-time students. The College offers Omanis and international students a chance to take their courses here in the Sultanate of Oman and later transfer to other universities in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, or elsewhere. Those who started their courses outside the Sultanate of Oman also have the opportunity to transfer their credits to MCBS.
In addition to our English as a Second Language Program (ESL), the College offers a wide range of courses in a variety of majors for Associate and Bachelor Degrees in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, MIS, Economics, Banking, IT, IT, Computer Science, Statistics, and Aviation Management. MCBS has also hosted an MBA program with a finance specialization, HRM and MIS, from Franklin University, USA.
We have always been proud of our students, graduates, and alumni, as they contribute to our excellent reputation and spread the word on our achievements as an educational establishment. MCBS graduates are now playing a significant role in the Sultanate of Oman and elsewhere. Many of our graduates are now occupying high-level positions in both private and government organizations. The College welcomes students from other countries, believing that students from other countries and different cultures enrich all students' academic experience. All international students must enter the Sultanate of Oman under the auspices of a student visa, which the College will secure upon receipt of the required financial guarantee and other evidence.
Advising systems play an essential role not only in the student development process but also in student retention. Academic scholars worldwide have emphasized the presence of an effective student advising system as one of the requirements of a standard educational set up. The current paper addresses these critical issues.
The MCBS Library provides access to information in electronic, print, audiovisual, and multimedia formats. The library provides a comfortable environment and helpful services to support reading, research, and individual and group study. Its principal mission is to provide high-quality educational and personal services, and it is committed to developing collections in support of the present and future teaching and research objectives. The library is open during regular teaching hours.
