The great variety of universities offered by universities makes it difficult for a person to decide on the »right« university and the »right« course. But what should you bear in mind when choosing a future degree course? Primarily, the choice of degree should depend on personal talents, skills, and interests. Also, the course of study should be geared towards the practical demands of companies or business sectors. This is the only way a graduate can start a career both quickly and successfully and avoid shock when entering the job market.
Studying at EBC University especially involves a high degree of practical orientation through internships and practical projects and internationalism through foreign language orientation, including the acquisition of cross-cultural competencies. Our students complete an internship at our officially recognized university either in Germany or abroad after the second semester and another internship abroad after the fourth semester. In these internships, the knowledge acquired is put into practice, and students can reflect upon the specialized subjects they will take later in their studies.
Becoming familiar with practical working methods – also in international, foreign-language contexts – makes it easier for students to decide on a future career path. It is also essential for a constant dialogue between companies and academic institutions, and thus for practice-oriented programs, the business world wants to see. The international market orientation is reinforced by a semester abroad at one of the many institutions that cooperate with EBC University. In all specialized subjects, advanced academic training prepares future graduates to become responsible participants in the international network of a globalized economy. Our coaching concept will enhance and promote our students' personal potential during the studies and their entry into the job market.
Soft Skills such as cross-cultural competencies and presentation techniques are also essential subjects at EBC University. We also want our students to develop an understanding of the complex issues of sustainability and ethics. Because such aspects are an integral part of all EBC programs, internships and projects will not prolong the period of study. EBC students usually graduate with a Bachelor of Arts after six semesters. This, as well as the option to complete foreign language certificates of the respective chambers of commerce, enhances a smooth job entry. Graduates may also wish to complete a Master's degree in Germany or abroad upon graduation. Whatever the plans – our graduates are equipped with intercultural competencies and business expertise to pursue their careers with great confidence.
A challenging study program in a learning environment with a personal touch strengthens the sense of we with your fellow students, faculty, and staff: this primarily supports your personal development next to your professional and academic competencies. Additionally, you gain further insights into the working world with a domestic and an international internship, and last but not least, we guide you through a study period abroad. Equipped with these experiences and your intercultural competence, you are well-prepared for an international working environment in Germany, Europe, and the world. Our earliest beginnings over seven decades ago, the focus of all of our predeceasing institutions was explicitly beyond German-speaking countries' borders. This tradition manifested in EBC University's internationally oriented study programs, which always included mobility windows for studying and working abroad. When EBC University was granted the ERASMUS University Charta in 2008, we moved from only outgoing student mobility to our twelve partner institutions in France, United Kingdom, Ireland, USA, China, Australia, Spain, and Denmark, to a nowadays very lively student exchange within a network of now over 80 partners in 30 states, now also including two-degree programs. Further, we see a growing interest in staff mobility in- and outbound and not only within our ERASMUS partnerships. The nucleus of this fantastic development was EBC's International Office, which grew from one to five members between 2008 and 2015, and whose officers at our three campuses in Hamburg, Berlin, and Düsseldorf worked hard with high spirit and a love for international cooperation to fill the word "internationality" with life.
