Vinnytsia National Technical University is an educational establishment of the fourth level of accreditation well known in Ukraine and far abroad. VNTU consists of 8 scientific and educational faculties: Faculty of Computer Control Systems and Automatics. Faculty of Civil Engineering, Thermal Power Engineering and Gas Supply. Faculty of Power Engineering, Ecology and Electrical Mechanics. Faculty of Information Technologies and Computer Engineering. Faculty of Machine Building and Transport. Faculty of Radio Engineering, Telecommunication and Electronic Instrument Engineering. Faculty of Management and information security. Seven Integral Institutes, designed for the provision of the training process: Institute of Master's, Post-Graduate and Doctor Degree Studies (InMPDDS) Institute of Humanitarian and Educational Policy (InHEP) Institute of Training and Production Integration (TPI) Institute of International Relations (IR) Institute of Pre-University Training (InRUT) Institute of Organizational and Methodical Provision of Training (InOMPT) Institute of Progressive Training Technologies (InPTT) Institute of Ecology and Ecology Cybernetics (InEEC) The University trains 6000 day time students, 1500. part-time students, 100 PhD and Doctor degree students, 1000. pre-University students. The educational and scientific activity is conducted by 47 departments, 26 of which are running branch offices with the Vinnytsia and Vinnytsia region enterprises. The departments are run by Doctors of Sciences, Professors. 84 % of teaching staff in the graduating departments and 72 % of University teachers have scientific degrees and titles. 2 % of University teaches have an honorary title. VNTU is the unique University in Ukraine and among the New Independent States' countries to introduce in 1991 the three-semester study system, two semesters of which are conducted following the curricula, and the third. Training of scientific and educational specialists is conducted on the post-graduate courses on 19 specialities and the Doctoral courses on four specialities. There are 5 Specialized Scientific Councils for the examination of PhD and Doctoral Thesis on 12 specialities. During the previous ten years, there had been defended 36 Doctoral and 255 PhD theses. Vinnytsia Medical Institute n.a. N.I. Pirogov and since 1994 the University has been training competent doctors for 90 years. For this period, about 44 thousand specialists have been trained, who work in Ukraine and many countries of the world. Now the training of specialists is carried out at 53 chairs, where the competent scientific-pedagogical staff works. Among them, there is an academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, five academicians and five members-correspondents of Academies of Science, 120 doctors of science, professors, 554 candidates of science, associated professors. At the medical University, 6250 students are trained, including 2080 foreigners. In total about 44000 doctors, among them 2100 specialists of the highest level, possessing the Candidate's and PhD, M.D. degrees, including more than 7500 foreign citizens from 106 foreign countries of Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America, Africa) have been trained. In the management of the international citizens' education function the department for international links, the dean's office of the preparatory faculty and the dean's office for undergraduate and postgraduate international students. VNMU is known nationally and internationally for its high quality of specialist training and was rated by the International Personnel Academy ranking of higher education schools as one of the best institutions in Ukraine in 1995, 1997, and 2000. For 1997 and 2000, VNMU was determined to be among the best educational, medical establishments and was awarded a unique Diploma. Foreign graduates recommended themselves by the high quality of training at VNMU, which trains them for more than 50 years. Today, at the University study, almost 1500 foreign citizens from 63 countries (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and CIS). Each year the University receives more than 20-25 delegations from embassies, representative offices, foreign firms for scientific cooperation, and training of foreign nationals. Each year 15-20 scientific conferences, congresses, and symposia are held at the University, which testifies to the University's high prestige, its staff significant contribution to education and science. In 2010, dedicated to the 200th birth anniversary of M.Pirogov held V International Congress "Pirogov's readings" in the framework of which was also conducted the XXII Congress of Surgeons of Ukraine five days 2173 delegates from 28 countries took part in the congress. In 2012 university staff was awarded by - "Leader of the national ranking assessment of higher educational institutions in Ukraine" and the Gold Award "Recognition of the Year - 2012" to develop international cooperation. The University has one of the highest among the educational institutions of Ukraine sufficient level of teachers with academic degrees and titles. Every sixth teacher - Doctor of Science, Professor. As of 01.01.2013, the University staff is 1646. The teaching staff consists of - 812 persons, among them 120 doctors of science including 75 professors, 17 academicians, and five members-correspondents of Academies of Science, 4 Honoured Workers of Higher School and Education of Ukraine, 559 candidates of science including 283 associate professors, 12 Honoured Physicians of Ukraine, teachers with no degree - 138. Seven lecturers were given honorary titles of the Honoured Scientist and Technologist of Ukraine. Many of its research workers are laureates of the State Prize of Ukraine and one laureate of the State Prize of Belarus. The University is developing dynamically, over the past 15 years, were organized faculties of dentistry and pharmacy, began training in five new specialities, opened part-time (by correspondence) training in pharmacy, organized department of internal and family medicine for major faculties and the faculty of postgraduate training, which operates based on medical institutions in Khmelnytskyi. Improving physicians on family medicine is a significant contribution of the university staff in implementing the modern concept of public health services in Ukraine. The University has perfect material-technical and methodological bases. The following centres were created: new information technologies, scientific-research, diagnostic, medical psychological advisory centre, educational and scientific-industrial complex - the institution of rehabilitating disabled persons, educational-industrial complex - dental clinic. They are equipped with modern facilities, which contributes to a combination of medical aid's educational process and rendering. We built a new education building were placed four departments and laboratories of the research centre. At present, a modern library with book depository for 500,000 books is in the process of construction. We carry out a program of significant reconstruction of students dormitories on creation in them hotel-like rooms. For the nearest future, we plan to open university students polyclinic and drugstore. All these transformations are realized with funds earned by university employees providing educational and other services. Computer technologies are widely used in the training process and management of the University. Operates 32 computer classrooms, using 4 Internet channels, with free access for students, postgraduate students and teachers. University staff takes an active part in developing a fundamental reform of higher medical education and social protection of students, teachers, high school pensioners, and protection of training databases for medical education. The University has 12 research schools, priority directions of scientific activity are - maternal and child health, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of chronic diseases among different population groups, creation, experimental research and introduction of new drugs, devices and appliances. Nearly 1,000 students, members of scientific students society involved in scientific studies. More than 40 students are winners and prize-winners of inter-university, national subject competitions, and students scientific conferences each year. The contribution of university graduates in medical science and higher medical education is also very substantial. The founder of Ukrainian anesthesiology school is professor A.I.Treschynskyy, a lot for the development of neurosurgery in Ukraine did professor Y.A. Zozulya, significant progress in the development of orthopaedics and traumatology reached professors Petro and Vitaliy Fishchenko. Among our foreign graduates: the head of the military hospital in Panama, Deputy Minister of Health of Angola, trusted doctor of the President of Syria, the head of large cardiology clinic in Chicago. The majority of foreign graduates praiseworthy represent our University in 106 countries. The University maintains close relations and cooperates with medical faculties of 19 foreign countries (including the U.S., Germany, France, England, Russia, etc.), clinical departments have close ties with 28 foreign pharmaceutical firms.
