    Touro College Berlin

Touro College was founded in New York City in 1970 by Dr. Bernard Lander as a Liberal Arts college. Since the 1970s, the college's expansion has reached California, Nevada, Israel, Russia, and Germany. In 2001, Dr. Lander asked Sara Nachama to work together and establish Touro College in Berlin. The decision to choose Germany's capital as the new campus for Touro College was based on the college's profound Jewish history and the unification of Berlin communities. In the Fall Semester 2003, Touro Berlin opened with 18 students studying the Bachelors in International Business program, which eventually became the Bachelor in Business Management degree. In 2005, Dr. Lander was inspired by a visit to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin and wanted to set up a Holocaust Institute at Touro. The Lander Institute for Communication and Tolerance was established on the Touro College Berlin campus in 2006. In the fall semester of 2007, the department welcomed its teaching staff for the Master in Holocaust Communication program. The MBA program was introduced shortly after in 2010, and the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology was established in 2013. At Touro College Berlin, we aim to bridge the gap between American and German educational systems and create a multicultural environment conducive to learning. Touro College is an independent institution dedicated to transmit and perpetuate the Jewish heritage and serve the general community in keeping with their commitment to intellectual inquiry, the transmission of knowledge, social justice, and service to society. Touro College Berlin offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business management, psychology, and Holocaust studies. These programs serve diverse components of the Touro community and the larger society, especially those underserved in the past. Touro Berlin is a college where students are prepared for the professional world and are given the courage and tools needed to embark on a successful career. We strive to provide a unique opportunity for an international education entirely in the English language on our picturesque Berlin campus. At Touro, our mission and vision are driven by our international, American, and Jewish values. We embrace students from all over the globe and strive to provide high-quality learning. Our campus is situated in the charming Charlottenburg district of Berlin. Touro College Berlin was established in 2003 in a historic Bauhaus villa with a profound history. Our campus's home originally belonged to the Lindemann family and was designed by German architect Bruno Paul. When the Nazis seized power in the 1930s, the Lindemann home at Am Rupenhorn became the official residence of Hanns Kerrl, the Reichskirchsminister (The Reich's Church Minister). When the war ended in 1945, the house was handed over to Allied Forces and was used as a learning center for the British Military in the years following the war. It was eventually handed back to the Berlin government and was used as a pedagogical and educational center in the 1950s. The campus was acquired by Touro College in 2003 with a class of just 18 students in the first Bachelor in Business program. Touro College Berlin offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, business management, and holocaust studies accredited in the United States and Germany. Our small community boasts of a genuinely diverse international faculty and student body. We believe in an education based on small classes and great discussions. Touro College Berlin offers undergraduate degrees in business management and psychology. The business management program provides a broad understanding of core business principles to choose a concentration in the following areas: Marketing, Management, Finance, or Managerial Economics. The comprehensive Bachelor's program in psychology provides education on psychology, including social, abnormal, cross-cultural, clinical, and industrial. The degree will offer students a solid foundation for future study or advance into a career in the field. Students have the option to select either US and German degree paths. Touro College Berlin offers graduate degrees in holocaust communication and tolerance and business administration (MBA). The unique research-based program in holocaust communication and tolerance allows students interested in the Holocaust and Jewish studies to acquire further knowledge on the subject. The MBA program aims to provide students with a concrete foundation of essential business theories and real-world management skills. Graduates will form the expertise needed to pursue a career in strategic planning, finance, sales, or marketing. Through this varied program, students will gain the opportunity to develop global perspectives on team management and core concepts of international business. We are delighted that you are considering applying to Touro College Berlin, and we are here to support you throughout the application process. Touro College Berlin seeks to admit students with positive energy and a passion for learning. Applications are evaluated on an ongoing basis until all spaces in the program have been filled. Students may apply to enter either the Fall semester (beginning in late August) or the Spring semester (beginning in early February).

    Touro College

Touro students hail from all over the world, from all walks of life, in the pursuit of a common goal: To get the best possible education, to find a promising professional career, and to do so in an environment that respects and supports their backgrounds and beliefs. What sets Touro apart is not merely our top-notch programs, engaged faculty members, or experiential learning opportunities. It is our culture and curriculum that respects your commitments – to your community, your values, and your future. Established in 1970 to focus on higher education for the Jewish community, we have grown to serve a widely diverse population of over 19,000 students across 30 schools in 4 countries. We are uniquely attuned to the importance of an education that accommodates students from all backgrounds and circumstances. From liberal arts to law, health sciences to technology, business, Jewish studies, education—and everything in between—Touro provides educational opportunities and career paths to not only the most talented and motivated students but also those who have been overlooked and underserved, who have the drive and potential to succeed. Touro College was established in 1970 to educate, serve, perpetuate, and enrich the historic Jewish tradition of tolerance and dignity. Created as an independent institution that would support and strengthen the Jewish community, Touro has remained steadfast in its commitment to Jewish continuity and, more broadly, to humankind. Since its inception, Touro has served and supported diverse communities, making world-class educational opportunities accessible to all members of society, across all races, nations, and creeds. Our core values are drawn from our Jewish heritage and the Jewish intellectual tradition, focusing simultaneously on individual development and the greater good. Touro provides men and women an environment that nurtures personal growth and intellectual inquiry in superior academic programs. They also offer neighborhood-based programs that serve, and encourage service to, under-resourced communities. Our students, in turn, become accomplished, thoughtful citizens. The latter share and perpetuate our belief in equal access to quality education, the treatment of all human beings with integrity and respect, personal and professional ethics, and the building of a compassionate and responsible society. Touro College is America's largest private institution of higher and professional education under Jewish auspices. Every year, thousands of students from all countries and walks of life turn to us to pursue degrees in medicine, education, Jewish Studies, technology—and everything. Touro undergraduates choose from a wide range of disciplines—from the classic liberal arts and sciences to highly focused pre-professional programs. Our graduate programs are intensive and career-oriented. We give you the tools and support you need to thrive in the workforce and the world. In 1790, George Washington visited the Touro Synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island, and spoke eloquently of democracy, ethics, equal opportunity, and the American ideal. Little did he know how far his words would carry. Washington's vision inspired Isaac and Judah Touro, leaders in colonial America, to pioneer their family's efforts to enrich all people's lives, regardless of creed or color, through educational opportunities, spiritual outreach, and vocational enterprise. The Touro family began providing significant endowments for universities, the first free library in North America, independent health facilities across the United States, and communities in Israel. In 1970, in the tradition established by the early Jewish-American leaders for whom it is named, Dr. Bernard Lander founded Touro College to strengthen the Judaic tradition and serve the broader community with compassion and dignity. Chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York, the College welcomed its first 35 students in the Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1971. From humble beginnings, Dr. Lander built a flourishing institution that reaches across the country and the world—now enrolling over 19,000 students a year in a broad range of disciplines, including business, law, social work, Jewish Studies, and technology. Each decade has ushered in a wave of new academic and professional programs designed to give students an increasingly competitive world. The Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and the School for Lifelong Education opened, as well as a college for recent immigrants. The latter would eventually evolve into the New York School of Career and Applied Studies (NASCAR). Touro University California and the School of Health Sciences were established, introducing colleges of osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, and health sciences. Touro expanded its undergraduate offerings with new campuses in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Since 2000, the Touro network has grown to include international sites in Paris and Berlin and coastal campuses in Los Angeles and Miami. In 2004-5, the new Touro University Nevada launched programs in osteopathic medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, and education. From 1998 to 2007, Touro operated an online division of Touro University, Touro University International. Between 2007-2009 the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Pharmacy opened in Harlem. Touro University Worldwide was formed to offer professional degree programs online, and in 2011, New York Medical College, in Valhalla, NY, became part of the Touro family. In 2010, when Dr. Alan Kadish took over as president of Touro following Dr. Lander's esteemed tenure, he renewed our commitment to ensure that even as we grow, each campus, every program, and all of our students are held to the standard set for us over 220 years ago.
