  1. Presbyterian Ladies’ College was founded in 1915 and has since sustained an international reputation for academic excellence and outstanding success in preparing young women to lead active purposeful lives. Evidence of our Scottish heritage is apparent throughout the beautiful Peppermint Grove campus and the distinctive Blackwatch tartan uniform and PLC Pipe Band. However, perhaps the most significant legacy of our Scottish tradition is a belief in educational excellence, combined with a whole-of-person approach to intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual development. Today this continues to be the philosophical foundation on which a PLC education is based. At PLC, every girl is given the opportunity to: Develop an appreciation of intellectual challenge and a love of lifelong learning Gain the confidence to question, challenge, and be creative Give and receive warmth and human understanding Belong to a community in which to experience the beauty and joy of life itself. PLC students are encouraged to become critical and compassionate thinkers, assume responsibility for their learning, and be informed and engaged participants in local and global issues. Underlying these precepts is the conviction that women can, and should, make a difference in the world. At PLC, we measure our achievements through theirs. PLC Perth is more than a School. When your daughter joins us, your entire family becomes a member of a community rich in history, strong in its commitment to the values of compassion and respect, dedicated to intellectual challenge and inquiry, and which has a culture of participation, resilience, and courage. Our Founders’ values – integrity, learning, community, and effort – forged 105 years ago remain true to PLC Perth today. We educate girls to be global citizens and empower them to lead a principled life. PLC Perth is the only girls’ school in Western Australia to offer three tertiary education pathways – the world-recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program, the WA Certificate of Education (WACE), and the vocational education pathway. In our Junior School, our IB Primary Years Programme is a curriculum and pedagogy that focuses on developing the whole child – academically and social-emotionally. Our world-class well-being center – the PLC Lighthouse – delivers the health and well-being curriculum in a state-of-the-art facility where the focus is on feeling good, functioning well, and doing good for others. With its gymnasium, circuit and movement rooms, and well-being spaces, students are encouraged to use them before and after school, during study and lunch breaks. Presbyterian Ladies’ College is a Uniting Church School committed to an excellent, well-rounded educational experience that gives every girl confidence and empowers her to lead a principled life and make an active contribution to the community. PLC is: a school for a diverse and exceptional education that is innovative, vibrant, challenging, and fosters personal excellence. A community of friends, which is secure, inclusive, and values of the individual. An enduring legacy of values such as integrity, learning, community, and effort. A culture of learning for life and spiritual inquiry where character and leadership are nurtured to serve and shape the world. Vision: Providing opportunities for generations of girls to discover their uniqueness and have the courage to strive to live by their convictions and realize their potential. PLC is a values-based community. Staff, students, and parents subscribe to our values upon becoming members of the College. These values provide the compass by which community members come together to support one another and be of service to others. Taken together, our values create an enabling environment to meet the School’s Statement of Purpose: Presbyterian Ladies’ College is a Uniting Church School committed to an excellent, well-rounded educational experience that gives every girl confidence and empowers her to lead a principled life and make an active contribution towards the community. Strong ethical values make truth, compassion, respect, and moral courage highly-valued attitudes that are modeled every day. Integrity and a strong sense of social justice are particularly demonstrated through a commitment to celebrating diversity, including reconciliation for indigenous peoples of Australia and striving for equal opportunities for women. We learn and explore intellectual challenges and are inspired to value learning as inquirers, thinkers, risk-takers, communicators, and self-reflection. Students develop an understanding of themselves, their community, and the world around them through a balance of academic, social, cultural, and spiritual inquiry and physical pursuits. We value participation as an active means of making friends and building mutual understanding, showing care, support, respect, and an open mind to recognize everyone’s value and contributions. The value of belonging to a community accepts rights and responsibilities and recognizes that with privilege comes an individual and collective responsibility for the common good. We recognize that little is achieved without effort, and we encourage students to strive and achieve their best. Confidence, resilience, and boldness develop through a culture of participation, a get-up-and-go attitude, having the courage to try new things, managing unfamiliar situations, learning from mistakes in a supportive environment, and having opportunities to discover personal strengths. 2. If a child has been able in his play to give up his whole living being to the world around him, he will be able, in the serious tasks of later life, to devote himself with confidence and power to the service of the world. Each Waldorf School, while sharing a joint philosophical base and methodology with other Waldorf schools, has a unique character. In the broadest sense, Waldorf education aims to: Awaken and preserve the child's innate sense of wonder, awe, and reverence for life. Restore vitality to childhood by infusing the learning process with love and enthusiasm. Cultivate the child's capacity for clear thinking. The school's objective is to: Help each child blossom into young adulthood with a balanced capacity for both feeling and thinking to prepare, with self-confidence and inner resources to accept responsibility and take their places as creative, self-directed members of society. The Waldorf School curriculum has been developed and refined over the past 80 years and is designed as a unity. Its subjects are introduced and developed in a sequence that mirrors the pupil's inner development as they grow. Incoming students at every grade level easily adjust to the natural progression of the curriculum. The school does not seek any specific type of student. A broad spectrum of styles and abilities within each class is essential for creating a healthy environment. Our students all acquire knowledge and information in a curriculum approved by the W.A. Office of Non-Government Education. We may be sure about the future; we do not know what it holds in store. One of the prime reasons parents give for choosing Waldorf Education for their children is that it keeps the pupil inwardly supple and mobile, nearly for the technical adaptability and social flexibility invariably demanded in our fast-changing world. Former pupils of other Waldorf Schools are people with a broad range of disciplines and interests. They maintain within the framework of specialized work, a wealth of inner resourcefulness and initiative, and an outlook on life that is always ready to face challenges or initiate the next quest. Their education and the fact that schools make it their policy to attract a spectrum drawn from diverse backgrounds ensure that they cannot only function well in teams but are at home in different social settings – extremely important in today's multicultural, multi-disciplined world. As they do, all walks of life take with them all the above qualities in entering. One of the most controversial issues facing parents interested in Waldorf Education is the policy on television and other media forms, including radio and computer. Why is it in our modern age, where virtually every home and office is filled with electronic gadgets, computers, and television, that Waldorf teachers so passionately voice concerns over the effects these technologies have on children's development and education? The following information is given, not to discredit or deny positive aspects of the media, but as a guide to deciding at what age and what extent use of media is appropriate. Most people are aware of research indicating a relationship between what children view and their behavior afterward. However, are you aware of the following? When children are passively watching T.V., their cardiovascular system is working at its peak. Muscles are in a state of tension. The media requires the brain to form 625 lines composed of over 800 dots appearing 25 times per second – into meaningful images. This strain, combined with a lack of eye movement, can produce sleeplessness, anxiety, nightmares, headaches, perceptual disorders, low concentration, and blunted senses. Rapid visual image and content changes allow no time for reflecting and questioning. This inhibits the assimilation of the material and interferes with the brain's ability for concentrated thought. T.V. watching may be linked with hyperactivity. Artificial light and radiation? Research is inconclusive. Young children cannot discriminate between reality and make-believe; hence the news, drama, and commercials live in them indiscriminately. For this reason, media (movies, DVD's, videos, T.V., and magazines) can encourage false values, stereotypes, and deceptive thinking. The interpretation of techniques such as close-ups, flashbacks, shoulder shots, and reverse shots requires analyzing, symbolizing, and abstract. These abilities should only be appealed to and developed after year 9. Every early development of slumbering capabilities weakens those capabilities and results in a disharmony of the total organism. In the first seven years, children are real sense organs, building into themselves everything they hear, see, taste, and touch outwardly and the inner quality and atmosphere of that which surrounds them. Children imitate this in the minutest detail. Therefore, children must be given models of behavior worthy of imitation, which leads them to experience and express goodness and trust. Seeing it on T.V. is not the same as walking in the wilderness, listening to a concert in the park, or watching artists at their craft. It is not a substitute for reality. Television children lose or do not develop initiative and become almost dependent on outside stimulation to learn, think, create, and even play. Studies have shown that creativity, originality, and imaginativeness are diminished by television watching. Waldorf Education aims to educate the child artistically and holistically. For teachers to succeed in their task, they must know at what time and how to introduce subjects to them. On a spiritual level, they must be aware of the hindrances and impediments that work against each child's healthy development. The supportive partnership between teacher and parent for the child's love and nurturing is essential for this goal to be realized. These children have been entrusted to our care, and it is "our" responsibility to be awake to potential dangers to their health and well-being. View full school
  3. Perth Montessori School recently changed its name to Perth Individual – a progressive Montessori College. As one of the state’s leading Montessori educators, the College initiated the name change to reflect better its unique blend of Montessori-inspired education, personalized teaching, and comprehensive high school experience. “The name is already gathering momentum and has struck a chord with many students who now affectionately refer to the College as ‘Perth Indi,’” said Deputy Principal Ian Michael. “The College prides itself on providing great teaching staff and learning environments and focuses on building creative individuals rather than expensive sporting facilities.” With the same dedicated team of passionate educators, Perth Individual continues to tailor personalized education for students from early learning to high school in a boutique learning environment. Perth College

A warm welcome to the Perth College community. Perth College has a long tradition of outstanding academic achievement and purposeful holistic education designed to grow confident, grounded, ethical, and socially-responsible contributing members of our world. We are an intellectually-challenging, energetic and creative school for girls from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 (boys from Pre-Kindergarten to Kindergarten). We also offer an engaging early learning program for boys and girls, which includes PC Playtime (playgroup), Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. Set on beautiful grounds 10 minutes from the Perth central business district, we have a contemporary boarding house for long and short stays, set amongst stunning gardens, historic buildings, and state-of-the-art facilities. We are proud of our inclusive and nurturing environment where girls are encouraged to be brave and to confidently push themselves beyond their limits in and out of the classroom. Our girls are not afraid to try, fail, and then grow from their experiences and adventures. These unique and challenging opportunities equip them to thrive as future pioneers. Perth College appreciates the importance of high quality, creative, and innovative teaching and learning. We value exposure to culture via music, literature, and the Arts. We provide our girls with opportunities to explore the realms of Science, Mathematics, and Technology for pioneering improvements in innovation and health and wellbeing. We help girls grow braver and more robust using the science of positive psychology and our unique model of self-leadership and wellbeing. We enable girls to flourish. As specialist educators of girls, we provide your daughter with opportunities to become confident, caring, independent, and determined to become the best version of herself. Perth College has drawn on more than 116 years of experience and knowledge to create a learning environment that enables girls to become remarkable women and mark history. Our mantra is ‘be brave, not perfect’ because girls become confident to challenge themselves and take risks by learning from their mistakes. We underpin this with a sense of ‘sisterhood,’ where the girls support each other, work as a team, and engage in an active school community that extends beyond the Perth College gates. Our staff strives to instill within our girls a sense of deep worth and strong values to equip them to bravely face life’s challenges and act courageously as citizens of the world beyond Perth College. We also collaborate with students to develop their wellbeing, spirituality, physicality, and emotional and academic intelligence. To make the most of the opportunity takes bravery. Let us acknowledge that we will fail and experience disappointment, setbacks, and perhaps heartbreak if we choose to be brave. That is the joy of living life to its fullest and becoming the best version of ourselves. When our girls are challenged, our role is to ask, “How can we help you with this challenge?” We know our girls are capable, and we have faith they will navigate and learn from such experiences. Perth College is one of the oldest independent girls’ schools in Western Australia, and one of many schools founded worldwide by the Community of the Sisters of the Church, an Anglican religious order established in 1870. From its original site in West Perth in 1902, Perth College proliferated and moved from 1916 to its current location in Mount Lawley. From the very beginning, Perth College was determined to do things differently. The Sisters’ vision for what women could do challenged the accepted ideas at the time. From this, a healthy belief system was born: that women should work hard to make the most of their opportunities and use these advantages to make a difference. Perth College has continued to go from strength to strength over many generations. Milestone events included the building of our Chapel in 1927, the 1968 handover of the school from the Sisters to the Anglican Province of Western Australia, and our 2002 centenary celebrations. Today, Perth College boasts a student population exceeding 1,000 girls, including over 100 boarders from regional WA and overseas. The school has recently added several landmark projects, including the purpose-built Founders Centre for Early Learning (Kindergarten to Year 4) and Excelsior House, a facility for Year 12 Students that prepares girls for university and life outside school. More than 13,000 students have been educated at Perth College since 1902. While much has changed since then, the determination of our girls has never waivered. We are proud of the spiritual foundations of our school. Spirituality is an essential part of the whole person and helps shape the girls and their attitudes to life. We challenge each student to develop her moral compass guided by an awareness of faith, in conjunction with the school’s broader positive education focus. Our Chapel of St Michael and All Angels is the spiritual heart of Perth College, consecrated in 1927. We hold regular services here, as well as providing a space for worship and quiet contemplation. In addition to our regular Chapel services, students across the year groups gather each year at St George’s Cathedral in the city to celebrate St Michael’s Day. We receive frequent requests for the use of our Chapel for weddings and baptisms. Use is reserved for Old Girls, staff members, and the broader Perth College community. For more information on our Chapel, click the button below. We believe in helping our girls make decisions in life with care, courage, and confidence. Our Beliefs and Values department works hard to encourage our girls to develop their spirituality through a range of challenging and enlightening programs tailored to each year level. In the Junior School, we focus on instilling the basics of Christianity. In the Senior School, we focus on global Anglicanism, faith, and spirituality. Students in Years 7 – 10 participate in subjects including Bible Studies, Philosophy, Social Justice, and Spirituality, while Year 11 students study Philosophy and Ethics 2A. Year 12 students have the opportunity further to undertake Philosophy and Ethics 3A/3B. View full school

  10. Perth Individual is one of the state’s most ethnically diverse Colleges, celebrating individual and cultural differences. The College has a detailed student profiling process to personalize education planning for all students and identify their gifts. Perth Individual also offers a more outstanding student to teacher ratio enabling the Montessori director/teacher to give their full attention to individual students. Perth Indi believes that children are outstanding individuals with unique gifts to share with the world. We believe that treating them as individuals gives them the best possible chance at lifelong success. We believe that an excellent education comes from an environment that allows a child to develop intellectually, academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally. PERTH INDIVIDUAL – GUIDING PRINCIPLES To respect.$11,644.00 To honor each child’s reality and experience. To nurture each child’s self-esteem and individual expression. 11.
