  1. The University of Münster is one of the largest universities in Germany with a rich and time-honored tradition. Some 44,000 students and 5,600 academics from Germany and around the world appreciate the University's extensive range of courses, diverse research profile, and the advantages of living in the city of Münster. Our slogan says it all: "living. knowledge" The University of Münster is committed to offering excellent research opportunities, high-quality teaching, and strong support to its junior researchers. Ensuring equal opportunity for both men and women is also a matter of vital interest. With close regional ties and a cosmopolitan attitude, the University of Münster promotes international exchange, interdisciplinary cooperation, and knowledge transfer. WWU Münster has developed a strong research profile in natural sciences, the humanities, medicine, law, and business administration. It targets top-level research in high-performance areas and combines this with promoting first-class young researchers. At the same time, ensuring that broad research can be carried out creates a secure basis for excellence. WWU Münster's research aims are closely linked with its commitment to providing high-quality courses of study covering a wide range of subjects. It has taken a pioneering lead in changing teacher training to the double bachelor's degree. The second step – a bottom-up process – will involve the master's courses. The development of programs for structured doctoral courses represents the third step in realizing the objectives set out in the Bologna process. WWU thus provides the best possible teaching based on high-quality broad and top-level research. The WWU Münster organizes outstanding academic junior researchers' promotion in graduate schools that provide structured doctoral courses. Moreover, the University creates an environment conducive to top-level research carried out by postdocs. It also supports the setting up of groups of young researchers and the creation of junior professorships to strengthen the links between postgraduate education and research. WWU Münster considers gender equality to be a task of strategic importance. The aim is to make it easier for women to combine an academic career and family interests. In combination with the high quality of life offered by the Münster region, the University hopes to reap benefits in recruiting brilliant researchers in the future. WWU's second strategic objective in gender mainstreaming is to apply suitable measures to strengthen women's social qualifications in pursuing academic careers. To initiate such measures to reach these goals, WWU subjects its gender mainstreaming policies to an external "family-friendly university audit." The University of Münster is proud to have ten winners of the renowned Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize teaching and researching at the university, four of whom work at the Mathematical Institute. The University itself honors outstanding achievements in research, teaching, and studies with remunerated Rectorate prizes. These include the Research Prize, Transfer Prize, Teaching Prize, Equal Opportunity Prize, Student Prize for Extraordinary Student Commitment, and the Faculty Dissertation Prizes. In addition to the Sybille Hahne awards for start-ups and excellence in the sciences and humanities, outstanding theses and dissertations are distinguished by the Maria Kassel Stiftung (in cooperation with the Department of Women in Theological Research). In past years, the University of Münster has awarded prestigious prizes in recognition of outstanding achievement in research, teaching, academics, and the area of equal opportunity. The prizes are conferred at the annual New Year's reception at the University of Münster. Not only do they acknowledge and reward remarkable achievements, but also – and perhaps more importantly – serve as an incentive and support for future projects. The University of Münster cooperates very closely with scientific institutes and corporate partners in several areas. These collaborations are conducted at both a regional and international level. The University of Münster supports a wide variety of projects and cooperative ventures. In this way, it plays a vital role in promoting academic and scientific networking in the Münsterland region. The University of Münster relies on a broad base of partners and sponsors committed to supporting profile-building and creative projects in research, teaching, and academia. In addition to the Stiftung WWU and the University Society Münster, these include other foundations, funding associations, companies, alumni, and other donors. The central contact partner for sponsors is the University Fundraising Department. The University also maintains close ties to its former students and staff. As the most extensive network at the University of Münster, the Alumni Club enables alumni to stay in touch with their alma mater and one other. Faculty and institute-based alumni associations contribute to strengthening the network in their respective disciplines. The University of Münster and its central facilities offer students a broad range of academic and study-related services. In addition to traditional teaching and learning methods, the University offers students and teachers an extensive range of digital services, from online instruction materials to electronic tests. The University offers students a diverse array of outstanding academic programs and events. These range from subject-specific lectures, General Studies courses, foreign language instruction at the Language Centre, and software training seminars at the ZIV – Centre for Information Processing. Students at the University of Münster are permitted to manage the details of their study place themselves to a large extent. This requires a certain degree of responsibility but also offers greater flexibility.
  2. Welcome to the University of Munster's School of Business and Economics. We have a wide range of courses we offer and at our diverse research activities. As one of the leading faculties in the area of business administration and economics, the University of Münster School of Business & Economics of Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster aims to offer an attractive environment for distinguished researchers. Its primary objective is to identify and support young talent to qualify them to become distinguished scholars in different academic spheres. The faculty offers a professional environment for academic research with a broad range of methodological approaches. The university's historical environment and the University of Münster School of Business & Economics' size and diversity offer special conditions for discipline-specific and interdisciplinary research. All in all, the faculty accomplishes a sound balance between fundamental and applied research in order to be able to establish this a synthesis between the requirements of science and the demands of practice. This position constituted in the past, permits to cover a broad range of topics relevant to both science and society, including innovative issues. Another aim of the research activities is to qualify tomorrow's reflective and responsible executives who meet the qualified tasks in economy, science, and politics. Academic rigor is the basis of junior researchers' conceptual thinking, while applied research helps them apply scientific findings to the challenges of scientific and economic practice. Many faculty members participate in international and national research networks and work across faculty boundaries with cooperation partners in Germany and abroad. Current research results of our faculty's professors influence teaching, and research projects are developed and discussed in the courses. There is an interleaving of research and teaching. The faculty is recognized by the Scientific Community and accredited following the standards of the AACSB. Extensive courses and a generalist education characterize Münster University's School of Business and Economics. Great store is set by the international accreditation of the degree courses and other education programs. All the programs offer outstanding teaching quality. The aim is to be a significant breeding ground for those destined to achieve eminence in academia or the world of management. A high value is placed on close contacts with the practicalities of business life and economic policy and the early integration of current research into the teaching and learning environment. We seek to encourage the transfer of knowledge between tertiary educational institutions and the realm of practical realities. Despite high student numbers, the School manages to offer accompanying classes and seminars for small groups, thereby promoting mutual exchange and academic discussion. Internationalization takes a high priority at the School of Business and Economics. In both research and teaching, the School cooperates closely with institutions abroad and is involved in international networks worldwide. Professors and junior researchers are active members of international research groups and keep up a continuing exchange. Every year, the School welcomes an impressive number of international guest students, postgraduates, and renowned guest researchers worldwide. Simultaneously, numerous partnership agreements and cooperations make different kinds of academic stays abroad possible for students, staff, and professors.
  3. Munster University of Applied Sciences is a much valued, innovative partner in the region and throughout Germany and at the international level. Its strength lies in the diversity of its offerings. Backed by a network of strategic partnerships, it is continually consolidating its leading position by committing itself to provide education, knowledge, and research transfer on a long-term basis. Munster University of Applied Sciences has evolved into one of Germany's largest and most successful applied sciences universities. Munster University of Applied Sciences was founded on 1 August 1971 after the merger of public and private schools of construction and engineering and vocational training institutions. Back then, the student population was around 2,300 today. Almost 14,000 young people are pursuing one of our 87-degree programs, 38 of which are Master's programs - a high proportion compared to other applied sciences universities. Besides, around 110 cooperative doctoral candidates work towards a doctorate, supported by our Doctoral Studies Programme. Over the years, Munster University of Applied Sciences has evolved into a practice-oriented, international, and interdisciplinary university of applied sciences. Teaching staff and students contribute equally to the successful transfer of scientific findings to practice. This pays off: our establishment is now one of Germany's largest and most successful applied sciences universities. The increasing student population and the continued expansion of our research activities result in our university's growing importance as an employer. Munster University of Applied Sciences now employs around 1,000 people, including more than 250 professors, at our sites in Munster and Steinfurt and our study locations in Coesfeld and Ahlen/Beckum/Oelde. With our educational programs and research work, we place ourselves at the service of society. In this respect, quality is the foundation on which all of our working areas are based. Quality sets the standards for our teaching, with a wide range of programs consistent with the market's needs. Quality is the foundation for outstanding research success − we have the highest external funding rate at any German university of applied sciences. And quality is the hallmark of a finely tuned system of internal resource management. In 2011, Munster University of Applied Sciences became Germany's first system-accredited university of applied sciences. Our quality management and exchange processes with practitioners have earned us several awards, including from the Stifterverband fur die Deutsche Wissenschaft. Taken together, these quality attributes shape the image of our modern, high-performance, and customer-oriented university. Quality is also the mainspring for the companies that build strategic alliances and partnerships with our university. In teaching and research, we offer many points of reference for our cooperation partners. Whether in product development, company management, human resource development, or communication: our partners will always find the skills they require − either in individual disciplines or by combining various excellent elements.
