      1. Since 1950 Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School has provided superior secondary education in the greater Oklahoma City area. All students undertake a college-preparatory curriculum that comprises traditional core subjects, theology, and various electives in visual and performing arts, practical studies, STEM, and other fields. Bishop McGuinness educates the whole person by offering numerous extracurricular, athletic, and spiritual-development opportunities. As a Catholic community of faith, Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School is dedicated to educating and developing the whole person, providing a moral, ethical, and Christ-centered compass for life. The church's teachings permeate the school's spiritual, academic, and social life, forming a "Person for Others." Bishop McGuinness High School is a coeducational college preparatory institution of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, providing a Catholic secondary education for students in grades 9 through 12. As an extension of the family, the school community is dedicated to developing the whole person. Faith and values are integrated into learning, living, and service to others to stimulate students' spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, and physical growth. By studying secular and religious matters, the school community applies knowledge toward a more profound acceptance of holiness from God, under the doctrines and structures of the Catholic Church. A multi-level curriculum provides a variety of educational programs that meets the needs of each student. Bishop McGuinness High School is available to students regardless of ethnic origin, religious preference, or socioeconomic background. The McGuinness campus has been transformed over the past 15 years. Starting with our auditorium's renovation and culminating with the expansion of the new education building and science and math wings, we have made over $27 million in improvements. Our school is now a dedicated twenty-first-century educational facility. New buildings and improved facilities are exciting, but they do not define a school. McGuinness students are involved. From academics to extracurricular activities and service projects, our students are eager to make a difference in the world. The Acton Institute has honored bishop McGuinness Catholic High School as one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in America. Readers Choice consistently votes it as the top private school in the metropolitan area. The highly qualified McGuinness teaching staff works tirelessly to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. Sixty percent of the staff hold advanced degrees. The 14:1 student to teacher ratio gives our teachers the ability to spend quality instructional time with each student. McGuinness teachers provide an end-of-day tutorial time, allowing each student to achieve at their highest level. You will find many educational choices in our great city. The average school day consists of six 55-minute classes, a 30-minute tutorial program, and a 35-minute lunch period. Progress reports are issued every six weeks, with a final grade assigned each semester. Involvement is an essential aspect of student life at Bishop McGuinness. Extracurricular activities add to the enjoyment of school life and permit the development of broader insights and experiences in the academic, cultural, political, athletic, and social areas.
