  1. Centenary College of Louisiana is a selective, residential, national liberal arts college. Founded in 1825 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, it is the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River. Centenary College of Louisiana is a selective liberal arts college offering undergraduate programs and a limited number of graduate programs in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, strengthening the foundation for students' personal lives and career goals. Students and faculty work together to build a community focused on ethical and intellectual development, respect and concern for human and spiritual values, and the joy of creativity and discovery. Consistent with its affiliation with the United Methodist Church, the College encourages lifelong dedication to learning and serving others. It strives to overcome ignorance and intolerance to examine ideas critically to provide an understanding of the forces that have influenced the past, drive the present, and shape the future and to cultivate integrity, intellectual and moral courage, responsibility, fairness, and compassion. In pursuit of these ideals, the College challenges its students throughout their education to write and speak clearly to read, listen, and think critically to comprehend, interpret, and synthesize ideas to analyze information qualitatively and quantitatively to appreciate the diversity of human cultures to respect the value of the artistic expression and to recognize the importance of a healthy mind and body and the interdependence of people and the environment. Academic and co-curricular programs and the example of those who teach and work at Centenary support students in their development and encourage them to become leaders in the workplace, the community, the nation, and the world. The Diversity Statement adopted by Centenary College provides a solid foundation for academic and social life on campus. The Student Diversity Intern program and the Diversity Committee, made up of faculty, staff, and students, help plan and lead efforts to promote and celebrate diversity at the College and in the community. Centenary explores and celebrates human diversity throughout the year with heritage month events, diversity training, and advocacy. The Diversity Committee comprises faculty, staff, and students who seek to improve diversity both on campus and in the community. Education at Centenary is both traditional and progressive. Grounded in the liberal arts, our core curriculum embraces courses in the humanities, the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the visual and performing arts. Choosing a college home is all about exploration, discovery, and conversation - just like a Centenary education. We are excited to connect you with current students who will share their excitement about starting College in Paris, France, through our one-of-a-kind Centenary in Paris program for all freshmen. Others can tell you about the real-world expertise they've gained from professional internships and research projects with faculty, or the leadership and collaboration skills they've practiced in campus organizations and community service. Rigorous coursework and close mentoring relationships with professors propel Centenary students to successful careers in medicine, law, business, the arts, and non-profit work. 90% of Centenary students who apply to medical school are accepted, along with 80% of those who apply to law school. However, no matter which path they choose, all Centenary graduates leave empowered to do more for themselves, others, and the world. Could you read some of our Alumni stories? Whether you're here to request more information, schedule a visit, or submit your application, our Admission staff is ready to start a conversation. Centenary education is a rigorous and engaging journey. With professors who know your name and believe in your potential, you'll chart a course toward a rewarding and successful career. Centenary combines a traditional liberal arts education with real-world experience, courses, internships, and study abroad opportunities. Centenary is Louisiana's only Tier One National Liberal Arts College and is ranked as one of Princeton Review's "382 Best Colleges." Centenary College is an equal opportunity educational institution. The College does not discriminate based on race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, age, marital status, veteran's status in the administration of its educational policies, recruitment or admission of students, scholarships, grant or loan programs, athletic or other College-administered programs, employment procedures, training programs, promotion policies or other related personnel practices. The College follows the guidelines for records established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (1974). The College's designated coordinator for compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title IX of the Educational Amendment of 1972, and the Internal Revenue Service is Karen Soul, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Many men and women have contributed valuable leadership to Centenary College since its founding in 1825. Current President Dr. Christopher L. Holoman, a four-member cabinet, and a dedicated Board of Trustees continue that tradition. Students were primarily the sons of planters and professional men. The whole operation was mostly male -– students, faculty, administration, and staff. Tuition was $50 per year. Room, board, and firewood were $7 per month. Then, as now, the College was a liberal arts institution, concentrating on studies such as language, philosophy, history, literature, and abstract science. There was a stiff curriculum with an emphasis on Latin and Greek.

  7. The University of Louisiana at Monroe seeks students who find value in our programs and prepares them to compete, succeed, and contribute to an ever-changing global society through transformative education. The University of Louisiana at Monroe will be recognized among the top 200 universities in the nation for excellence in teaching, research, and innovation, emphasizing the health sciences. A great place to start learning about our academic programs, from accounting to toxicology. Multiple program areas are offering graduate and undergraduate degrees. The primary purposes of ULM are instruction, research, creative activity, and service. Degree programs are offered by the three Colleges and the Graduate School. The higher education environment is changing. The Louisiana Board of Regents has recently implemented several new plans and procedures that modify how our state's universities approach higher education. Financial support from the state continues to decrease – rising tuition costs for students – and the emergence of for-profit online institutions creates new competition for our public, non-profit universities, and colleges. Throughout our history, the University of Louisiana at Monroe has provided quality education for all prospective students in northeastern Louisiana. However, new operating conditions require our mission to be redefined for the betterment of the community. Our objective was to develop a roadmap to guide ULM to success over the next five years regardless of the environmental conditions we encounter. From the beginning, we wanted the redefinition of our university to be driven by information, especially from those whom the changes would affect. The planning committee collected this knowledge from various publicly available sources, from relevant reports and publications, and surveys answered by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. The committee worked toward a new vision in line with the consensus by analyzing all the gathered information, though final authority rested with me as university president. A first draft was developed during a focused two-day meeting before presentation at eighteen stakeholder meetings, allowing all stakeholders to provide input. Objectives to advance long-term strategies focus actions in the first year because we must act quickly in the current situation to "turn the ship," while annual updates will keep the plan relevant and up-to-date. The next step in this process requires division heads and their staff to develop the tactical steps necessary to realize our vision and meet our long-term objectives. With the educational landscape continuing to shift, ULM has seized the opportunity to advance and has established a bold new vision. In this time of adaptation and renovation, we ask all students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, community members, and friends to join us in our efforts and help ULM achieve its vision as a top-performing regional university. The ULM Honors Program is a unique program that seeks intellectually curious students who desire to challenge themselves with new ideas and to work with similarly motivated students. The program is open to all majors and offers various options while working within the degree. Honors students are exposed to more in-depth topics and work closely with the Honors Faculty. The University of Louisiana at Monroe has over 80 years of Student Success; that same commitment to student success is available online. ULM offers over 30-degree programs, resources, and a caring community to help you go the distance in school without traveling the distance to our campus. You are joining the Warhawk family and are an essential part of our student community, with access to all of our advisors, admissions counselors, and faculty. As an online student, you're a big part of ULM. The World Languages program in the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences offers various study abroad opportunities to all University students. French students are eligible for scholarships to study in Belgium, France, and Canada for a month in the summer. Students may also apply to study for a semester or a year in France as part of the MICEFA program. ULM also offers a two-week study abroad program in Montpelier, France. Students study mornings and take excursions to nearby sights in the afternoon. The Spanish program takes students to Mexico and Costa Rica. Students stay with families and study Spanish in Mérida and San José. When abroad, they also can participate in numerous excursions, including the Mayan ruins in Mexico and the rainforests in Costa Rica. Students accepted as participants in the ULM-Mexico study abroad program spend two and a half weeks in Merida, a city with a population of close to one million people. Before leaving for Mexico, the students attend several hours of orientation classes over several months, designed to prepare them for the experience. The topics covered in the classes include various aspects of the region's history, customs, food, art, and architecture. The participants live with host families during their stay in Mexico, and they attend classes five days a week at the Centro de Idiomas del Sureste. In addition to taking classes, students participate in several excursions in and around the city of Merida. These include visits to museums, archaeological sites, and cultural events. The ULM Scholarship Office assists students in searching for, awarding, and processing ULM scholarships. Specific scholarships are available only to incoming first-year students, while others are available to all ULM students who meet eligibility requirements.
  8. We are smart, spirited, and seeking solutions. Those words say a lot about the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Sure, they capture the essence of the place. But that one sentence conveys who we are in a way that may not be obvious to anyone who has not experienced our University firsthand. It is not pretentious, for starters. There are no lofty phrases intended to impress others with our erudition. It is authentic. Not only does it distill who we are, it describes us in words that everyone can understand. That is because the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is all about inclusion. It strives to bring everyone to the same table. Our University does not embrace diversity. It celebrates diversity. It does not nod "hello" to strangers and keep walking. It invites strangers inside for a cup of coffee. By now, you should have gotten the hint that the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is not a regular university. It is not a school of almost higher education. We are the second-largest University in Louisiana, with over 19,000 students, and offer bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Our offerings range from the humanities to hard sciences, and we are among the nation's leaders in areas such as computer science, environmental biology, and nursing. We are among the top 180 universities in the United States in R&D expenditures. And we are the only University in the world whose sports teams are the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns®. Our student-athletes compete at the highest level of NCAA competition. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers an exceptional education informed by diverse worldviews grounded in tradition, heritage, and culture. We develop leaders and innovators who advance knowledge, cultivate aesthetic sensibility, and improve the human condition. We strive to be included in the top 25% of our peer institutions by 2020, improving our national and international status and recognition. Imagine a place where the welcome is in the air, the invention is a way of life, red is everywhere you look, and raging is what you want to be. That is UL, that is Lafayette, and we are pleased that you are applying for admission. Every year, we welcome more than 6,000 undergraduates: freshmen, transfers, students returning after a break, and international students. We invite you to explore the University and sample the raging spirit that drives our community, informs our work, and enhances our play. You will see that spirit in our collaborative classrooms. We recognize it in our primary and applied research, our efforts to improve the survival of coastal communities, the health of fisheries in the Gulf, and the literacy of low-income children. Just take a look at our nationally-recognized nursing program, our rigorous honors program, our new online options, our fast-moving campus renewal. You will see that a research university really can address large-scale issues with passion and ingenuity—and still nurture individual students with innovative, attentive teaching. Maybe the best discovery: our value. We are committed to providing high-quality education at a reasonable cost, which means you will graduate with good preparation and lower debt. When we say Bienvenue (welcome), we mean welcome to your future. With over 80 majors and more than 30 graduate programs, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is an impressive public university of 18,800 students, but being here feels like coming home. That is because we are an incomparable family of collaborative students and inspired faculty—teachers, researchers, scientists, engineers, nurses, and problem solvers—generously working and learning together. Faculty scholars bring real problems and pressing research questions to the classroom. Do aquatic animals have the potential to adapt to changing temperatures? What is the best way to revitalize a hurricane-prone town? Could alligator fat be a valuable, renewable source of fuel? Students contribute to the answers. They also create new solutions. Recently, they built a house that flexes its public and private spaces, adapting to big parties (or solitary contemplation) when needed. They helped to design the University's new bike path. Honors students regularly present original research. Student-athletes soar in the classroom. People-centered, the University is home to some of the best thinking in the world. It is a community where students learn, share what they learn, savor the experience, and thrive in their studies, careers, and lives. Whether you are looking to at schools to finish your bachelor's degree or take the next step in your career through one of our online graduate programs, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is committed to providing educational opportunities through rigorous online degree programs and engaging, challenging online courses. UL Lafayette's online degree and certificate programs are designed using nationally approved quality standards for course design and delivery. Resources for online and hybrid students include online tutoring, 24/7 technical support, online library services, and more. UL Lafayette offers International students an outstanding education for an exceptional value—located in one of the United States' unique cultural areas. Our University is a place where students from around the world and the country are offered virtually limitless opportunities to learn in our exceptional facilities while enjoying the personal attention and camaraderie that we (and the Cajun culture) are famous for. We believe that students get the most out of an education that makes it personal, which is why we stress student research throughout our undergraduate programs. Research and real-world experience can be found in many of our departments, such as in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, which is home to incredibly life-like, computerized human patient simulators and uses virtual reality technology to give students a realistic experience. Likewise, students in physics get hands-on training in the Louisiana Accelerator Center. The accelerator lab utilizes ion beams to advance nanotechnology's science—technology used to build machines one-billionth the size of a computer chip.

Through counseling, clients will have the support of a counselor and the freedom to determine how they wish to resolve the challenges facing them. The Office of Disability Services facilitates the process of academic accommodations for students with disabilities. It works in collaboration with other University departments to ensure full participation in all activities, programs, and services of the University. By applicable law and University policy, Southeastern Louisiana University ensures equal opportunity for all qualified students with disabilities, without regard to disability, in the University's programs and services. A person with a disability is any person with a physical or mental impairment, which substantially limits one or more major life activities. Disabilities include but are not limited to physical disabilities, blind or visual impairment, deaf or hearing impairment, psychological disorders, learning disabilities, and ADHD. Appropriate accommodations enable a student with a disability to compete equally with his/her non-disabled peers but are not intended to place a disabled student at an academic advantage. The Office of Career Services provides students and alumni with many career counseling and job search assistance services. All job opportunities posted by employers can be found in LionHire. We also help employers hire Southeastern students and alumni for part-time jobs, internships, and full-time positions. Southeastern Louisiana University began as a grass-roots movement by the people of Hammond and the surrounding area. They recognized the need for an institution of higher education to further the educational, economic, and cultural development of southeast Louisiana. What began as a junior college supported by local taxes has developed into a major university as Southeastern has grown to meet southeast Louisiana's evolving needs.
  10. Northwestern State University was established in 1884 in the old Bullard Mansion atop a hill overlooking the bustling river port city of Natchitoches. The campus grew as the school expanded from a two-year degree for teachers at Louisiana State Normal School to the four-year education degree at Louisiana Normal College in 1921. View full university
