  3. Welcome to the Living Faith Lutheran Primary School website. We appreciate that choosing the right school for your family is not only tricky but is likely to be one of the most important decisions you will make. We trust your visit to our site will help you discover what makes Living Faith distinctive. Living Faith opened its doors to 66 students in 2001. Before this, many hours of work had gone into planning by members of the Lutheran congregations at Petrie and Sandgate. Both congregations sold their properties to purchase eight hectares of land at Murrumba Downs with the express purpose of establishing a Lutheran school. What a thrill it is to be involved in 21st-century education – to accept the colossal responsibility of inspiring and influencing our future generations' lives so that they might make a positive contribution to the world in which they live. Together with the dedicated team of staff that serves Living Faith so selflessly and enthusiastically, we delight in partnering with parents to nurture their children's spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Enrolling a child in a Lutheran school is not merely about securing a child's seat in a classroom. Instead, it is about welcoming a family into a Christian community. With this in mind, we are excited about the opportunity to enter into a relationship with you as, collectively, we grow the values, attitudes, dreams, and ambitions that reflect a community exuding Christian love. Lutheran schools have been part of Australia's education scene since 1839 when early German settlers saw the value of home and school working as partners in their children's education. Turbulent times during the wars closed many schools, but with a resurgence in growth, there are now over 125 schools and early childhood centers across all states of Australia, educating more than 36,000 children and young people. A Lutheran school curriculum matches all State, and Australian Government requirements, with Christian Studies, added as a Key Learning Area and worship as a regular part of school life. While each Lutheran school has its unique character, there is a commonality between us as we share the belief that each child is a unique creation of God and loved by God. Christian beliefs permeate all aspects of school life. Relationships are central in a Lutheran School – particularly the relationship between a child and his/her teacher – and are characterized by care. The value of parents and schools being partners in their child's education still stands today as Lutheran schools see their role as supporting parents in their children's general education – academic, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual. The mission describes an organization's overarching purpose, while a vision offers a preferred future and guiding image of success. At Living Faith Lutheran Primary School, we combine our mission and vision. Values are at the heart of any community, and Living Faith intentionally embeds the following values in the school's everyday life: compassion, doing your best, forgiveness, respect, responsibility, and teamwork. The Living Faith logo's central aspect is the cross: the most readily identifiable symbol of the Christian faith. It represents the faith that motivates everything done in our school. Jesus' death on the cross brings us into a relationship with our loving God. The dove is a symbol for the Holy Spirit, and it is in flight to suggest something active, living. The dove's journey is traced in the shape of a heart, the symbol of love, which is how faith shows itself in action. And so the logo represents a faith in Jesus which is lived out through love.
