Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) is an international learning and development community that operates in its compact campus area. KAMK uses internationalization as a regional development tool. One profile that cuts through all operations at KAMK, smart solutions, is used to steer all activities. In addition to using technological solutions, smart solutions mean the ability to do the right things right. The five schools of KAMK each have one focus area that supports this profile. The focus areas will enable the schools to increase their national status. Integrating the focus areas creates a readiness for international activities in line with the profile. KAMK is a proactive, genuinely international university with a strong regional and national profile. An international learning and development community consisting of approximately 2000 students and 230 experts operates in its compact campus area located in Kajaani's impressive natural surroundings. The Kajaani UAS quality control policy is that all staff and students are committed to the university's operations' continual improvement. The policy ensures and enables excellence to be the primary goal of all operations. All quality control operations are based on the vision, values, strategic choices, and agreed procedures used to implement strategy within different processes. Planning, implementation, and development follow the principle of continual improvement based on quality evaluation within all operations. Quality management covers all operations of the University of Applied Sciences. Development partnership KAMK carries out teaching, research, and development in local, regional, national, and international networks. KAMK is a state-recognized institution in Finland. The activities in universities of applied sciences are regulated by the Polytechnics Act (932/2014). The government decree on polytechnics/universities of applied sciences (1129/2014) defines the objectives, extent, and overall polytechnic degree structure. The Ministry of Education confirms the degree programs of universities of applied sciences. The European Qualifications Framework provides a tool for defining the interrelations of national qualifications and qualifications systems. Each country references its national qualifications to the eight levels of the European Qualifications Framework by using national qualifications frameworks or levels of national qualifications systems as guides. Internationalization has long been among the Finnish higher education policy's key aims and at the core of higher education institutions' strategies. The national aim is to develop higher education institutions into genuinely international education and research communities where the international experience and connections of the staff support students' internationalization. Each of five KAMK schools has an International Co-ordinators who deals with international affairs as well as teaching. In all matters concerning international affairs, please contact the International Co-ordinators or the International Office staff. KAMK has partner universities and other partners in more than forty countries. Each School in KAMK has its co-operation partner. KAMK is a member of the Arctic University that has an exchange program called North2north (n2n). Students from KAMK can exchange the n2n program's partner universities in Canada, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, and the United States. KAMK Sports offers sports services accessible for all skill levels for students. Activities take place in the areas and sports locations of our campus. We offer instructed group fitness lessons and the possibility of using the sports locations of the campus independently. KAMK Sports aims to enhance our students' well-being and make it possible for everyone to do sports throughout the studies. You are allowed to use the services of KAMK Sports with a sports sticker: if you buy the brief membership (20€/ semester), you are allowed to use the sports hall (ball sports turns) and the gym independently. With the broad membership (30€/semester), you get all these and the possibility to attend every instructed lesson offered. There is a battle between the staff and the students of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences going on. The winner takes it all and holds the undeniable title of the championship of our campus! Kainuu Vocational school and high school are also participating in this competition. The battle consists of five playful competitions. The purpose is to strengthen the most powerful weapon of our campus: the feeling of unity. The competitions will also bring life to our campus every month. We are also competing between two campuses. The winning team will be the one who gets the most points from all five contests altogether! Anyone from Kajaani UAS with a playful mind can participate in this battle!
