    Hyogo University

Hyogo University was founded in 1995. It is located in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture, and is a public university with four faculties and six departments. The campus is spacious and lushly green and shared with the Hyogo University Junior College (established in 1955). Here we provide attentive education in small classes and develop human service professionals in nursing, childhood education, economics, and many other fields. The parent body of Hyogo University, the Mutsumi School Foundation, was founded in 1921 to guide children through the spirit of harmony. It currently has three campuses in Hyogo Prefecture. The Kakogawa campus is home to Hyogo University (the Graduate School, Faculty of Economics and Information Science, Faculty of Health Science, Faculty of Lifelong Welfare, and Junior College) and a university-affiliated kindergarten. The Suma campus is home to the Hyogo University-affiliated Sumanoura High School and Suma Kindergarten. Kobe International High School and Junior High School are both located at the Takakuradai campus. We have evolved into an educational institution with seven different schools. The "spirit of harmony expresses the founding spirit of the Mutsumi School Foundation." As such, we value gratitude, tolerance, and compromise while also respecting each student's individuality and independence. This spirit of harmony is rooted in Buddhism. Hyogo University's founding spirit of Wa ("harmony") has remained unchanged since the University began. Wa refers to peaceful, friendly relations with each other. Through practical learning based on human education grounded in this spirit, we have sent numerous graduates into society as highly trained professionals who possess human warmth and the overall ability to communicate and collaborate with others. Our educational goal is to train professionals who will combine human power with applied skills. Through enriched specialized education and general education along with practical learning grounded in practice in the field, we convey broad-ranging cultivation and specialized knowledge and skills, training human resources who will be able after graduation to continue to build on and put to use the knowledge and skill they have acquired. We also expect our students to be human beings with the feelings and characters capable of understanding others at a heart-to-heart level. At the same time, we consider ourselves a community-based university. We are deepening our ties with the local community in a wide range of areas, including providing lifelong learning for the residents of a diverse range of ages. As a university with roots in the community, we want to be an institution where students meet with residents to think about various issues, learn, and grow together. Consequently, a university whose growth can be willingly supported by the community. In 2015, Hyogo University celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding, and the Hyogo University Junior College celebrated its 60th anniversary. While valuing the traditions that we have built up over the years, we would like to aim to be a university that will be a pride for the current students and the graduates, and the members of the local community.

Researchers in this field are being developed in the Joint Graduate School (Ph.D. program) in the Science of School Education. In response to the growing demands of globalization, this university is actively committed to developing international exchange and contribution initiatives.
