  1. Since it was founded in 1897, San Diego State University has grown to offer bachelor's degrees in 84 areas, master's degrees in 76 areas, and doctorates in 21 areas. SDSU's approximately 31,000 students participate in an academic curriculum distinguished by direct contact with faculty and an increasing international emphasis that prepares them for a global future. SDSU's annual economic impact to the state of California is $6.5 billion. Of SDSU's 270,000-plus alumni, approximately 60 percent live in San Diego. They comprise more than half the region's engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and the local workforce for many other industries. We are one of the top 100 public research universities in the nation and growing each year. We see research as a way to engage our students in education and better the world. Our researchers are educators, scholars, humanitarians, scientists, creatives, and students. We work here in San Diego and throughout five of the continents. Undergraduates play a vital role in the success of San Diego State University research and creative activities, and students benefit enormously from their participation. Providing opportunities for students to participate in research is a priority at San Diego State University. Research opportunities help students discover which subjects interest them as scholars, allow them to gain the critical skills necessary to enter graduate school and help underscore classroom teachings' real-life applications. The COE Global Cultural Experience offers students a perspective of both a country's diverse people and the critical issues of its society, commerce, political spheres, religion(s), and culture(s). These experiences extend an opportunity for students to explore their responsibility to the global community. There is an array of global experiences that exist on and outside of the SDSU campus. Each department should determine the various kinds of global experiences (for credit and not for credit). The Library and Information Access support the university's diverse community's information, curricular, and research needs through the broadest possible range of resources. We are committed to information literacy, lifelong learning, and creative endeavors in a welcoming environment. In November 2017, San Diego State University unveiled "SDSU Mission Valley," a detailed vision and planned for the land, including and immediately surrounding SDCCU Stadium. The plan features architectural renderings by Carrier Johnson + CULTURE. The university can purchase the land at fair market value and finance the construction, should it have the opportunity to do so. The plan does not rely on taxpayer dollars. Founded in 1897, San Diego State University has grown from a small teachers' college into a national research university of 36,000 students enrolled in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. Today, with nearly 240,000 local alumni and 6,000 employees, SDSU is one of the top economic generators in the San Diego region. According to a recent ICF analysis, an international consulting firm specializing in economic impact studies, the university generates $5.67 billion in economic activity and $457 million in state and local tax revenues each year. To effectively serve the increasing demand for higher education and support regional economic growth, SDSU must identify expansion opportunities. However, the campus is landlocked within 288 acres. The Mission Valley site is the only nearby land capable of addressing San Diego State University's long-term expansion goals. The SDSU Curriculum Guide has been compiled to help you prepare curricular proposals for processing for consideration for inclusion in the General Catalog, the Graduate Bulletin, and the Imperial Valley Campus Bulletin. Also included are instructions on submitting proposals for new certificate programs, a degree to be placed in the Academic Master Plan, and topics courses and General Studies courses to be included in the SDSU Class Schedule and Extended Studies catalogs. Particular attention should be given to the following information. Graduate Affairs provides leadership and support to scholars engaged in over 100 master's, doctoral, and advanced certificate programs at San Diego State. In collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across the sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, arts, education, and business, our team strives to ensure the integrity and high quality of graduate degrees and facilitate their timely completion. San Diego State University excels in innovation, research, and creative activities, mainly due to our graduate students' success. For many graduate programs, these accomplishments culminate in a thesis or dissertation expected to be of the highest quality for the field. Because research expectations and requirements vary widely, students are generally expected to develop a research plan with their Graduate Advisor or Thesis Chair in their first semesters at SDSU. San Diego State University Media Relations is the university's representative to local, regional, national, and international media organizations. Team members determine the most compelling stories to convey, work with media to tell those stories, and frequently field requests for SDSU experts who can speak about current issues. The media team also prepares materials, including expert advisories and fact sheets about the university, and can provide media kits.

  4. San Diego Christian College (sdc), as an academic and learning community, aims to prepare academically equipped, culturally, and globally involved graduates with a biblical worldview and godly character to serve God. As one of the top Southern California Christian colleges, san Diego Christian college (sdc) exists to educate and inspire students through the truth of ScriptureScripture and the development of competencies that prepare graduates whose purpose is to impact the world. As we look toward the future, we will continue to adapt and innovate our resources while upholding the mission and values that have guided the institution since its founding in 1970. Driven by our mission, our Executive Summary is comprised of three strategic initiatives and six priorities. The three strategic initiatives – academically equipped, biblical worldview, and culturally involved – provide the framework that guides our efforts to deliver transformative Christian education with global opportunities while building lifelong relationships. The six priorities allow us to define how and what we will focus on in the years ahead. At San Diego Christian, we believe that God has created you for much more than just getting a job and waiting for retirement. Jesus told us that He came to give us a new life that is worth living! And while that includes studying and preparing for your career, it also means growing and developing into the person you were created to become every day. So, while a portion of your time in college will be spent in the classroom, there is so much more to being a student and living life during your stay here, and Student Life and SDC exist to help you make the most of each of those moments. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed! While there will be times when it takes hard work and dedication, we also want your time in college to be a memorable one filled with laughter, great friends, and a vibrant social life shared with people living with and for the same purpose as you. Here at SDC, we will strive to create exciting opportunities to help you connect with other people, get plugged in, and make the most of your time here. It is our goal that years after graduating from SDC, you will think back on your time here and smile! Since we are created in God’s image and called to know and love Him, there is nothing more vital to living a truly successful and fulfilling life than to grow and develop in your relationship with and commitment to Jesus. This is the foundation upon which a healthy and fulfilled life must be built. To be a disciple of Jesus requires that we pattern our life off His example. This is especially true regarding His model of service and self-sacrificial love for others. As Jesus came, not to be served but to serve others, we too are called to model His servant leadership to the world around us. So here at SDC, we will challenge you to engage the world through service and giving of yourself and your time to help others both within the school community itself, as well as throughout San Diego County and beyond. San Diego Christian College (SDC) was founded in 1970 as Christian Heritage College (CHC) by Drs. Tim LaHaye, Art Peters, and Henry Morris desired to equip students with an education that trains both mind and heart. The first degrees were awarded in 1973. Soon after, the college moved campuses to share a 32 acre complex with Shadow Mountain Community Church. In 1976 Christian Heritage College was awarded the status of Candidate for Accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WSCUC) and was given full Accreditation in 1984. The college is also a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). In 2005, Christian Heritage College became San Diego Christian College, and in 2014, SDC moved to a new campus in Santee. While the name and location have changed, the mission remains the same: to educate and inspire students through the truth of ScriptureScripture and the development of competencies that prepare graduates whose purpose is to impact the world.

  7. Founded in 1979, San Diego Jewish Academy began in the San Carlos neighborhood of San Diego. Initially offering a general and Jewish education program to kindergarten through fifth-grade students, the Academy expanded its program to middle school students in 1988, then to high school students in 1999. In 2000, with incredible leadership and passion from our community, state-of-the-art campus on 52 acres in Carmel Valley was built. As our Jewish community has grown, and become more robust and more diverse, so have we. Serving children from preschool through high school, SDJA is the largest Jewish day school in San Diego. For 38 years, SDJA has been a leader in preschool to 12th-grade education – nurturing Jewish values and Jewish life in generations of students and preparing them to be advocates, entrepreneurs, and leaders in their communities to affect change worldwide world. We instill a deep understanding and respect for the values and insights of Jewish tradition and Israel's love that will lead students to live lives of Jewish meaning. We embrace a curriculum that brings creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking alive on campus and expands thinking through real-world experience. It starts here, where our children learn what it means to be an inheritor and designer of the Jewish future. Here, where they learn the tools to make a difference in the world by being an informed learner, listener, and leader. Here, where they become part of a community that will continue to serve them long after they have graduated. At San Diego Jewish Academy, we embrace a curriculum that inspires and explores creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking. Through our intimate learning environment, we recognize our students as individuals and appreciate their unique talents. We personalize our academics so that our students are not limited in learning by age or grade. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide students with a place to learn through science, music, art, and sports. At the same time, they explore their interests through our advanced enrichment programs such as robotics, debate, green technologies, and more. At San Diego Jewish Academy, we believe that our students' social-emotional growth is a vital component of their education, helping them succeed as individuals and as positive members of the community. We have several different but complementary support services to help students achieve these goals both in the Golda Meir Lower School and Maimonides Upper School. On-campus, our team of teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, faculty advisors, and learning specialists collaborate to help students cultivate powerful tools to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The Learning Center at San Diego Jewish Academy provides educational assistance during school hours to increase their success in the classroom. Small-group sessions combine both educational techniques and a global approach to learning. Unlike tutoring, which is often associated with one subject or content area, the learning center method is broader, emphasizing multiple strategies to help children learn more effectively. An integrative approach is taken while organizing and completing homework or studying for upcoming tests and quizzes; students simultaneously learn the tools needed to become independent learners. The lower school offers an ESL program for students learning English as a Second Language. The ESL teacher conducts a pull-out program to give students directed lessons that strengthen vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing skills. Students are pulled out in small groups for approximately 30-45 minutes, three to five days per week, with students of likeability and of similar age whenever possible. Because most of the school day is spent within the regular classroom among native English speakers, most students require just one or two years of ESL help before being fully integrated into their classrooms. A guidance counselor is on campus four days per week and acts as a resource for students, parents, teachers, and administrators. The counselor teaches formal guidance lessons on resolving conflicts peacefully, peer relationships, and respect. The counselor works with individual and small groups of students to help them problem-solve and runs social skills groups on an as-needed basis. Other services offered include professional development for staff and parent coffees on topics involving students' social and emotional development. College counseling at San Diego Jewish Academy is grounded in introspection. In the freshman and sophomore years, students and parents meet informally with the Dean of Academic Affairs to discuss academic counseling matters. 9. View full university
  10. 12. Formal college counseling begins in the junior year. A meeting with students and parents is held in late fall, during which an overview of the college selection and application process is offered. By the end of the process, suitable matches have been determined, and students go to destinations where they continue to grow. The Counseling Office smiles, just a touch, at each individual's individual 'sumph once the admission season draws to a close every year.
