      1. Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls has a long tradition of providing students with a high-quality, broad, and balanced education. This is a happy and purposeful learning environment, where staff and students work together and enjoy coming to school. Here, teachers are subject specialists who share their enthusiasm as well as their knowledge. Students are encouraged to develop ‘a growth mindset’ to see the value of effort, have a positive approach to overcoming difficulties, and take responsibility for their learning. The welcoming and supportive atmosphere is underpinned by excellent pastoral care and well-planned transition programs. Throughout Years 7 to 13 there is a program of PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic education), tutor time, assemblies, and house activities that help students become well-rounded individuals and provides them with leadership opportunities. There are numerous charity events throughout the year which are led by students. Our day-to-day activities and ethos mean we live up to our motto ‘not for our advantage but the common good. There is a huge variety of extra-curricular activities on offer here. There are numerous sports, drama, music, clubs, and societies for students to participate in. There is a wide variety of trips and visits organized both in the UK and internationally. We are fortunate to have fantastic facilities, including state-of-the-art science laboratories, sports hall, library, and a brand new teaching block which is home to the English department in addition to a multi-purpose social space. Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls is about so much more than academic success. Over seven years it provides students with numerous opportunities to develop their existing skills, to discover new ones, to challenge themselves, and broaden their horizons. We welcome girls from all backgrounds and use the Pupil Premium funds to provide support, narrow the attainment gap and allow every student to fully engage in all aspects of school life.
