The University currently has approximately 490 full-time and 340 part-time faculty members and has more than 6,100 students enrolled. We have been striving for excellence in both instruction and research areas since the establishment of our institution. While we have been continuously hiring outstanding scholars and experts to join our faculty community, our faculty members have played active roles in national-level research projects sponsored by the National Science Council, National Institute of Health, and other organizations. And in order to educate and shape our students to be "diligent, perseverant, frugal, and trustworthy" and well-versed in both theory and practice, we have instituted an extracurricular practicum system and been working closely with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, the Formosa Plastics Group, and other institutions to conduct work-study programs. In taking advantage of Formosa Plastics Group's abundant manufacturing and medical service resources, Chang Gung University aims to be a first-rate internationally renowned university that prepares high standard professional talents in the fields of medical science, high technology, and knowledge management. The CGU has established a solid foundation in pedagogy and research with the efforts of past Presidents. It is a great pleasure for me to be the President of CGU, and I shall continue this great tradition. I hope that the public can give us continual support to attract more talented students to join the CGU. We have never changed our founding aim and have been running the school step by step in order to cultivate students into pillars of the society who can combine theory to practice and work diligently and practically by the CGU motto—Diligence, Perseverance, Frugality, and Trustworthiness. Diligence, Perseverance, Frugality, and Trustworthiness" is the motto of Chang Gung University, which reminds and encourages our students and faculty to maintain a simple and hardworking lifestyle, always in pursuit of excellence and never satisfied with the second-best. To achieve this goal, Chang Gung University developed close collaborations with industry for both research and training. Looking ahead, Chang Gung University will continue to pursue improvement and enhancement in teaching, research, industry-academic cooperation, and international exchange. Chang Gung University will also persist in the philosophy of human concerns and serving others. In the end, Chang Gung University wishes to excel in our performance in cutting-edge research fields and foster outstanding students with high integrity, specialized knowledge, and willingness to become lifelong learners.
      2. Chang Gung University of Science and Technology's mission is "Diligence, Perseverance, Frugality, and Trustworthiness." It is an extension of our educational philosophy, "to focus on people and seek truth from fact." In terms of "Diligence and Perseverance," we expect the students not only to work hard but also to do the right and useful things. Students are encouraged to build up their wisdom and enhance self-confidence through the accumulation of such useful experiences. "Frugality and Trustworthiness" implies a simple and honest life; therefore, students can concentrate on pursuing their life goals. To instill these virtues in our students, we stress a balanced development that focuses on academics and morality, theories and practices, and humanities and social adaptation. In addition to this motto, we equally urge our students to become specialists in their chosen field and develop exceptional critical thinking skills, positive attitudes, and healthy lifestyles in addition to boosting their physical strength. To nurture a talented workforce of individuals who will improve society, the Institute strives to create a learning environment focused on students who embody humanism and celebrates healthy habits. Our mission is to become a top tier university that enables students to grow into distinguished professionals who, upon graduation, will be the superior choice among employers. CGUST offers a rigorous curriculum to ensure that all students are well-prepared for the work world. CGUST graduates are highly sought after by employers. CGUST attaches equal importance to theory and practical skills. Students are well-received by employers and have been repeatedly rated the most popular candidates among medical institutions by various magazines. Our practical training-oriented education improves the competitiveness of our students. CGUST pays particular attention to practical training and designs curricula with cooperation with private enterprises in mind so that every student has the opportunity to gain practical experience. Arrangements are made for CGUST students to acquire practical training experience at businesses within the Formosa Plastics Group or Chang Gung Medical Foundation. All students live on campus, which provides a quality living environment. All CGUST students are required to live on campus to facilitate meaningful study habits. To cultivate an ideal learning environment, CGUST has built a teaching building, a library, a gymnasium, a dormitory, and a fitness center in recent years, providing students with an intellectually and physically stimulating environment, fostering a friendly environment. Foreseeing the growing demand for high-quality medical personnel, Mr. Yong-Ching Wang founded the Institute intending to cultivate talented individuals in society and named the school after his father, Chung-Gung Wang, to commemorate him. A 2-year nursing internship program organized by the Ming-Chi College of Technology (now known as Ming Chi University of Technology) in 1983 was the forerunner of the Institute. In 1988, Chang Gung Institute of Nursing (CGIN) began as a 2-year junior college nursing program. The 5-year junior college program for nursing was later established in 1991, and CGIN was promoted to Chang Gung Institute of Technology (CGIT). CGIT started offering the 4-year college programs in 2004. In early 2004, the Chiayi Campus's establishment was approved by the Ministry of Education, and student applications were accepted in the fall of the same year. CGIT transitioned into Chang Gung University of Science and Technology (CGUST) in August 2011. CGUST has set up three colleges, three graduate programs, six departments, and four centers. The Nursing College has three undergraduate departments, two graduate schools, one cross-subject accredited program, one clinical competence center, and one health promotion research center. The three departments consist of the Nursing Department, the Respiratory Care Department, and the Geriatric Care and Management Department. The two graduate schools located in Chiayi and Linko campuses recruit degree-holding nurses working in the field. The cross-subject accredited program is designed to cultivate professionals specializing in both cosmetic science and Chinese medicine. The College of Human Ecology adheres to focusing on the person and seeking truth from facts. These principles are integrated throughout every level of our institution. Our mission hinges on practicing professional care, increasing quality of life, and building a better life for everyone. The College of Human Ecology was established in August 2011. We have three undergraduate departments, one graduate institute, and two research centers: the Department of Child Care and Education, the Department of Cosmetic Science, and the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, the Graduate Institute of Health Industry and Technology and the Research Center for Food and Cosmetic Safety and the Research Center for Chinese Herbal Medicine. We have also established three committees: the College Personnel Committee, the Faculty Review Committee, and the Curriculum Development Committee.
      3. Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) is a private university located in southern Taiwan. CJCU is committed to developing the God-given gifts and abilities of each student within a culture of love, respect, and service. The University was founded in 1992 but is the outgrowth of a vision that began more than one hundred years earlier with Chang Jung Senior High School's founding, Taiwan's first western-style high school, in 1885. Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) and seeks to continue the PCT's role as an educational pioneer in Taiwan. The University offers a unique approach to education based on the Biblical model of the Good Shepherd, who is not willing to lose one sheep. It places great value on each student's potential and yet, at the same time, seeks to build a culture of humble service. Sustainability is a foundational principle at Chang Jung Christian University. At this critical juncture in the planet's history, we cannot afford to educate the current generation for "business as usual." We are proud of the University's sustainability achievements, including the River Restoration Center, a joint project of CJCU and the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency. We are committed to educating students who will be at the forefront of the sustainability movement. We must equip students with skills that will enable them to succeed in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. In this age of rapidly evolving technology, we must prepare them to be lifetime learners. This means that we, as administrators and educators, must also master new technologies to their fullest advantage. We laud the efforts of CJCU's Computer Center in this area. Chang Jung Christian University seeks to build its relationships with the civic, industrial, and educational institutions in southern Taiwan through active service. As we grow in awareness of our community's needs and strive to meet them, our value in the community's eyes will grow. CJCU is an institution that cherishes its local roots and seeks to prepare students responsible for global citizens. This means that we must make them aware of the whole world and not just the privileged One-Third World. These principles will bear good fruit, but only if they are put into practice, practiced well, and practiced over a sustained period. They will keep us on a sure path toward our goal to be the best private University in southern Taiwan and to be a Christian university that changes the world by the grace of God. They will ensure that Chang Jung Christian University fulfills the destiny contained in its name (長榮, Chang Jung, "lasting glory"). Chang Jung Christian University founded the Office of International Affairs in 2006 to advance its goals of global engagement and expansion of its international relationships. Our responsibilities include initiation and development of cooperation between CJCU and international partner schools, supervision of inbound and outbound student exchange programs, coordination of international student admissions, and international students' support. CJCU is a community of approximately 11,000 students and 350 faculty members eager to extend the warmth and hospitality of southern Taiwan to the rest of the world. The University places a high value on its relationships with partner schools, research agencies, churches, and other organizations worldwide. As a Christian university, we seek to live out a gospel message that is for all peoples. As we press toward the goal of greater internationalization, we remain committed to the beauty and diversity of local culture.
