  1. St. Cecilia's is a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School in the Archdiocese of Southwark. The principal objective of the school is to establish, maintain and advance the Catholic religion. It was built to serve the local Catholic community, in particular, the children of practicing Catholic families in the parishes of St. Cecilia's, St. Matthias, and St. Christopher's. The school caters to children from three to eleven years of age. We have over 480 children on roll and fourteen classes, each of which is named after a Saint. At St Cecilia's, Religious Education is given the priority it pervades the whole ethos of the life and work of the school. We offer a wide curriculum incorporating the requirements of the National Curriculum. The Catholic community supports the school because they value a distinctive Catholic Education for their children. A substantial amount of funding for the upkeep of the school is donated by regular churchgoers in these parishes through their regular weekly contributions at Mass. As a Catholic School, we have a unique place in the local community with very close links to our Parish churches. Our school community is a beacon of the Gospel Message, it is reflected in all that we do. We have an active program of faith formation as evidenced in our recent Section 48 inspection which graded the school as "Outstanding." At our school, we place the person of Jesus Christ at the center of all we do and because of this we value individuality and diversity and recognize the preciousness of every individual. However, we also value the joy of working and learning in a community that is strengthened by common values and expectations. We recognize that each one of us has a special part to play in creating a better world and building up God’s Kingdom here on Earth. St Cecilia's is a very happy and settled place, it has a great sense of tradition, many of our valued and much-loved staff have taught here for many years and we are pleased to see past pupils return with their children. Our pupils work very hard and show tremendous achievement in their results. Our pastoral care is outstanding, children are happy to come to school and enjoy the challenging and varied curriculum that we offer. At St Cecilia’s we have the vision to create a school where learning is at the center of everything we do so that our children can grow as individuals to become lifelong learners. With the introduction of the new curriculum, St Cecilia’s has adopted a cross-curricular approach which means that subjects are linked through topics. This approach enhances children’s learning by making the curriculum more rounded, meaningful, and exciting. At St Cecilia’s we recognize the uniqueness of each child and their different learning styles across a broad range of activities and we aim to develop these so children make good progress and attain high standards. Subjects or areas of the curriculum that do not fit into a particular topic are taught discreetly. To complement learning and bring our topics alive the children have regular access to practical learning experiences, often there are themed days or weeks of visits to places of interest in both the local and wider community and Y6 has the opportunity to go on a residential trip. Relevant visitors to the school, including parents, are always welcomed to assemblies, to speak to classes, year groups, or larger groups to enhance the children’s learning and knowledge of the world around them. At St Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School we actively promote Christian values, virtues, and ethics that shape our children’s character and moral perspective based on the Gospel values and teaching of the Catholic Church. We are confident that this gives our children the awareness of what it means to be a good citizen in Britain today and embeds in them the skills to be an active citizen in the future as laid out in our vision statement. Educating today's children to live fulfilled Christian lives as positive participants in tomorrow's world community. At St Cecilia’s we are committed to serving our community, our local area, and beyond by promoting ‘The Common Good’. We can make real links between the values of our pupils and the lives of others and in doing so we reinforce British values regularly.
  2. Saint Cecilia’s is a co-educational comprehensive school for pupils aged 11-18 years in the Diocese of Southwark and the London Borough of Wandsworth. The school is highly successful and well-respected with a proven record of high academic standards taught in a caring, supportive, and distinctly Christian environment. The school respects the unique contribution which every individual can make to the community and seeks to place this contribution within a clear structure which both embraces the highest possible academic aspirations and accepts individual differences in ability, aptitude, and level of skills. Saint Cecilia’s is primarily a learning community and its culture of teaching and learning unlocks pupils’ potential for self-fulfillment and prepares them to take their place within adult life as well-rounded responsible and caring people. At the heart of the school is its Christian foundation, where Jesus Christ is reflected in every aspect of school life. This is true in the relationships we build, the choices we make, the attitudes we adopt, and the goals for which we strive, and as a Christian school we are proud to declare that we exist to “Glorify God through Outstanding, Enjoyable Education”. Our school community is enriched by a committed staff, good discipline, and a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities aimed at broadening our pupils’ experiences. We pride ourselves on knowing each child personally, thereby enabling us to monitor carefully the all-around development of each child during his or her time with us. Indeed, we want all pupils to look back on their time at this school as the happiest time of their lives this is what we strive for day in and day out. Our success is also built on the excellent partnerships developed with parents and carers, through which we can promote the kind of education that enables our pupils to prosper and receive the very best educational opportunities. Saint Cecilia specializes in the teaching and learning of Music and Mathematics. To provide a channel for the development of pupils’ creative and artistic skills, the Governing Body has reserved 10% of places in each year group for pupils showing a particular aptitude for music. Saint Cecilia’s is a very popular, over-subscribed school of which parents, staff, pupils, and the local community are immensely proud. As a Christian school, we are proud to declare that we exist to ‘Glorify God through outstanding, enjoyable education. The school values the uniqueness of each individual as a person made in the image of God, entitled to teaching and learning opportunities that will enable him or her to become a confident, competent, caring, and self-reliant person, fully prepared for adult life and the world of work in modern Britain. To fulfill its Mission Statement, the school seeks: To develop the whole child. To promote the highest standards of academic achievement, motivation, and self-discipline in all pupils. To ensure high-quality teaching and learning in all subjects and at all key stages. To encourage each child to develop her or his talents to the full. To ensure that everyone is treated equally and with respect. To develop in pupils an awareness and appreciation of spiritual, moral, social, and cultural values and attitudes. To help pupils develop creative, lively, and critically enquiring minds and the ability to question and discuss rationally. To promote an awareness of our place in, dependency on, and respect for the world environment. To promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. At Saint Cecilia’s we believe that pupils should enjoy and learn from their everyday experiences, both in and out of school, valuing their school days as part of a process of lifelong learning. Fulfillment grows from a sense of personal achievement and pupils are allowed to participate in a wide range of educational and recreational activities, including decision-making. Teaching is organized to enable pupils to work individually as well as in groups, cooperatively and well as competitively. Assessment of pupils’ work accentuates positive achievement as well as provides direction for future improvement. Our Mission Statement is Glorifying God through outstanding, enjoyable education. This school will value the uniqueness of each individual as a person made in the image of God, and called to be in a relationship with God and with other people. All are entitled to receive the best possible teaching and learning opportunities to enable them to achieve their full potential and to become good citizens of the world. Programs of study are broad and balanced in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum. All pupils are encouraged to achieve high standards through steady, determined effort. Extra support is given to very able pupils, and to those who find learning difficult. In Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9) pupils follow a common curriculum. Whilst Year 7 is mostly taught in mixed ability classes, from Year 8 onwards pupils are placed in ability sets for several subjects. In Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) pupils follow a common core of subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Studies, and Physical Education, and then elect to follow several optional subjects leading to GCSE or equivalent certification.
  3. As your children embark upon their formal education we take to welcome you to St Cecilia’s Catholic Infant and Nursery School. This is a heart–rending time for parents as you hand your children, possibly for the first time, into the care of someone else. We, at St Cecilia’s, hope to work in partnership with you in nurturing and educating your children. Your children will be happy in school when they are confident in the knowledge of a working partnership, based on mutual trust and understanding, between home and school. St Cecilia’s Catholic Infant and Nursery School strive to be a family community, inspired by the teachings of Christ where each individual is valued, nurtured, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We aim to create a welcoming environment and foster a meaningful Catholic ethos that involves the home and parish community in the life of the school. We aim to provide a child-centered broad-based curriculum that enables children to fully develop their talents, gifts, and skills. We aim to nurture confidence and self-esteem. We aim to inspire curiosity and encourage empathy for the global family communities. The Foundation Stage includes the Nursery and Reception years of a child’s education. It is a distinct stage and important both in its own right and in preparing children for later schooling. The Foundation Stage places emphasis on how children learn and engage with their learning journey through: Playing and exploring Active learning, Creating, and thinking critically. There are seven areas of learning that make up the curriculum. The Prime areas: Personal, social, and emotional development, Communication and language, Physical development. The Specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive arts, and design. To ensure a broad and balanced curriculum, activities follow the children’s interests wherever possible. Throughout the year a variety of topics and themes are introduced to the children as appropriate. Children are provided with opportunities to learn outdoors and all children can engage in planting and growing activities in our thriving Nursery allotment. At St Cecilia’s we are committed to ensuring the children in our care have time, every day, to explore their learning both indoors and outdoors with knowledgeable, interested, and enthusiastic adults. The Key Stage 1 curriculum covers Years 1 and 2 and provides a balanced and broadly based program of study which helps to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, and physical development of pupils. The children are taught topics that may be Science/ Geography/History based. From this literacy and maths, activities will be taught. Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education is a planned, developmental program of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future. As part of a whole-school approach, PSHE education develops the qualities and attributes pupils need to thrive as individuals, family members, and members of society. During KS1 learners gradually build on the skills, attitudes and values, knowledge, and understanding they have started to acquire and develop during the Early Years/Foundation Stage. PSHE education offers learning opportunities and experiences which reflect the increasing independence and physical and social awareness of learners as they move through the primary phase. They learn skills to develop effective relationships, assume greater personal responsibility, and keep themselves safe. The school's PSHE curriculum reflects national expectations and supports all of our children concerning their physical, emotional, and social development. It also promotes their understanding of their rights and responsibilities as members of a wide range of communities.

We want our children to be inquisitive and to come to school with a hunger for learning. We deliver a learning challenge curriculum, this is not simply a list of specific topics to cover, but it is a way of planning and delivering lessons that capture the interests of the children and make the learning relevant to them, whilst also meeting the National Curriculum requirements. We have used a topic-based approach to the curriculum for many years this involves linking some subject areas through a common topic or project, designed to ensure the children are interested in purposeful learning, allowing the children to take more ownership of their learning and to develop independence and confidence. The challenge for our many able and gifted children is ideally facilitated by this approach and it also provides an excellent platform as we do our utmost to ensure our SEND and Pupil Premium children are also given every chance to achieve. The Curriculum at our school is relevant to the needs of our pupils and our locality whilst being flexible and accessible for our mobile population. Through our bespoke design, subjects are linked together within a learning challenge where there are clear, relevant, and strong reasons for doing so, other subjects are taught discretely. Across all curriculum areas children have purposeful opportunities to use and apply their core skills (maths, reading, and writing) to ensure that, through a wide range of activities, children are progressing in their skills and understanding and extending their subject knowledge. At St. Cecilia’s Junior School we believe that the curriculum should be alive. The children must have a voice to say what they enjoy most and what they need to learn. Here’s to a rigorous, lively, and enjoyable curriculum that is fun to learn and great to teach.

At St. Cecilia’s Junior School we believe that the curriculum should be alive. The children must have a voice to say what they enjoy most and what they need to learn. Here’s to a rigorous, lively, and enjoyable curriculum that is fun to learn and great to teach. View full school
